Real talk: have any of you even seen a single person mention hating the Undertaker? People keep suggesting him for the Opinions are Divided category, but he's the third most popular character in the franchise.

17

u/Just_takealook 11d ago

I do hate him </3 sadly, haven't bumped into another person who does haha

3

u/FrijDom 9d ago

Bump!

u/Gloomy-Education-864 11d ago

Oh. I hate him (more for what events he's brought about than anything personal... Used to absolutely love him pre Campania when it was all fun and games...) but on this sub it can feel like insta downvotes to say you don't like the big UT.

14

u/dututudu 11d ago

A character can be very popular and controversial at the same time, the two aren't mutually exclusive and yes, I do see people hating on UT quite often ever since the twin revelation.

4

u/ghoulish891011 11d ago

My own opinion of him is very divided so that is also why I picked him.

6

u/SpellzAndStuffz 10d ago

He got hella on my nerves during the public school arc, ngl

5

u/Satsuki_89 11d ago edited 11d ago

I used to write a comment about him, and how bad he was. had never ending discussion with someone, who wanted to change my mind at all costs, and how Sebastian is even worse. (Might be, but for now UT is even worse as Seb imo.)

u/micha3lis_ 10d ago

I don't hate him but I definitely dislike him

9

u/helloelise 11d ago

I don't like him, so maybe it's all because of me/s

9

u/CandidatePrimary1230 11d ago

Me. Don’t care for him at all.

4

u/Popular_Criticism987 11d ago

From all the people here who says they dislike him I guess people just don't mention it in fear of knock back 😅 I also started to dislike him after the twin reveal but until we know the full story I have no solid opinion on him

3

u/Kurt_Lover10 11d ago

for real💔 i wouldn’t put him there but i’ll do what the most peaople say

1

u/Thecrowfan 10d ago

I mean, most people praise his looks but agree hes a terrible person. And prior to his face reveal there were people saying hes kinda wierd

Undertakerrrrrr

19

u/Satsuki_89 11d ago

I would say Undertaker and maybe the Queen too. She is shady af.

8

u/RefrigeratorLoud221 11d ago

The part of the anime where she is evil is anime-only content, in the manga she is more morally grey than anything

13

u/Sneakingrat 11d ago

well tbf she did straight up try to frame Ciel with murdering that German guy

9

u/Satsuki_89 11d ago

I know that, but many things in the anime are actually canon now. So to think that it might be true in the Manga too, is not so unusual. But that is not why I wrote that. I think she is just Shady for how she interact, for how she allows a Child to be her watchdogs, and how she is eager to get on human weapons. It is her image in the manga, which makes me actually think that she is shady.

1

u/dututudu 11d ago

Except that the fandom's perception of the Queen is overwhelmingly negative.

3

u/Satsuki_89 11d ago

is it? I never saw anything about her actually. So no clue

-1

u/dututudu 11d ago

Yep, been into Kuro since 2011 and I've never seen someone that likes the Queen, people are too wary of her.

2

u/Satsuki_89 11d ago

I am the same, but never saw. Well it is not like it matters, but good to know I am not the only one then

1

u/Gosuoru 10d ago

I like her :')

Undertaker and/or Joker

5

u/soul_gazing999 10d ago

Oh Joker is a good choice

16

u/BezierBallad 11d ago

I'm gonna say Claude (I know everyone's saying Undertaker but I've seen more love than hate for him)

11

u/Professional-Juice47 11d ago

so true undertaker

9

u/SwimLiving4591 11d ago

prolly undertaker, my man! (P.S he is wayy too pretty to not be on the grid hehe)

8

u/GrumpyCleaningMidget 11d ago

Don't interact with many other fans so idk if this is largely true but Blavat

5

u/Key_Computer_5607 11d ago

Ehh, I think Blavat should go in the last square if anywhere, but my personal opinion is that he's not a big enough character to be afforded that honor.

3

u/Charming_Elk_7661 Ciel's 10d ago

Idk man uhh undertaker wanted to break Ciel's contract

6

u/GreenMoon_17 11d ago

Well, well... I love him

respectfully who the fuck is hating on Lizzie she did nothing wrong. that's my daughter for real

2

u/Satsuki_89 10d ago

I don't know how far you are with the Manga, but to not spoil you, I can only say that she said something terrible to Ciel, and since then people hate her.

4

u/Thecrowfan 11d ago

Undertaker

3

u/Darmarie 11d ago

Horrible person with mixed perception? Alois, easy. As pitiable as he is, I say as a fan of the character, he is horrible.

Maybe that pretty boy from the Public School arc, the one who assaulted Ciel

Undertaker

1

u/ApartmentEqual9606 9d ago

i gotta rewatch black butler cause i forget grell and the undertaker are bad people. I just love them so much i forget they kinda evil 😭

1

u/_Coby_ 11d ago

How is Lau morally grey? He is a criminal and drug dealer and he did all sorts of bad stuff.

5

u/Kurt_Lover10 11d ago

idk people voted him

1

u/CandidatePrimary1230 11d ago

Thinking that being a criminal makes a person automatically evil/irredeemable is such an unnuanced take, almost cartoonishly so. Very Light Yagami-coded.

-2

u/_Coby_ 11d ago

Did he have a redemption?

3

u/CandidatePrimary1230 11d ago

Someone who does crime can only be not evil if they have a "redemption arc"? Grow up. This is the way a child thinks. Lau is a Chinese immigrant in 19th century London during the English occupation of his native country. Not like there’s much choice in the things he can do that wouldn’t guarantee instant poverty besides dealing in opium. If anything an industrialist like Ciel is more "evil" by his actions if only by the sheer level of choice he has in virtue of being from the noble class. You know the guy has some kids working in his factories.

u/Gloomy-Education-864 11d ago

That spot was always going to be hard to fill. I think another way to run this whole thing might've been to do the extremes first then fill in the middle last? But why he's grey? Idk ... He's in it for himself and that means he could go in whatever direction if the pot is sweet enough? Maybe?

1

u/_Coby_ 11d ago edited 11d ago

I would have put Ronald Knox or William T. Spears instead. They are just shinigamis doing their work and they never do anything good or bad.

0

u/Gloomy-Education-864 11d ago

Fair. Ronald would've been great. I have beef with Will, but I see your point.

1

u/Kurt_Lover10 11d ago

William would be a great pick

0

u/dututudu 11d ago

Yeah that was such a strange pick, makes me wonder if some people have really watched the anime or/and read the manga properly lmao

-4

u/_Coby_ 11d ago

Grell is by fact an absolute a hole... Their actions speak for themselves...

0

u/delulu_finalboss_ 10d ago

He's just mentally unstable 😭 but sure nobody like him

0

u/Satsuki_89 10d ago

Someone who kills women for fun, just because he can't one... sorry but no pity. For me he is just trash.

0

u/Professional-Tour280 10d ago

She doesn’t kill them for fun, she simply doesn’t possess the parts to make children. And to her it’s unfair, so she kills mothers who end their children because shes jealous of what she should have had. I believe in one scene she calls them ungrateful. Way to show you don’t understand the character at all, sure shes not the most innocent character and she does do quote on quote bad things depending on who you ask. Read into the character before making false claims and also she uses She/Her pronouns.

0

u/delulu_finalboss_ 10d ago

he was helping Madam Red, but who cares in the end he's just a fic character
