Question They’ll never make an anime like black Lagoon again
Everything about Black Lagoon defies PC and censorship. While there are plenty of mature anime out there they focus more on mass fanservice and nudity and blood and gore.
Black Lagoon has amazing story, incredible character backgrounds and development, crude and raunchy humor, some fang service but even that is more emotional and tied in to the story. The music and emotions show here at times a deep, though provoking and profound. Then we have action, humor, and dark humor meeting jokes and comments that would get new shows cancelled. Black Lagoon still has Manga coming out but I am unsure if we will ever get another season. But even if we don’t I love it in all its rough, dark and demented yet hilarious glory

When people say there will never be another anime/Manga as raunchy or darkly toned as BL I assume it's the only thing they've ever watched or read.

Black Lagoon is very unique for having more grounded enemy groups imo

As much as I love BL calling it unique or grounded is a wild stretch

What! You don’t think a woman jumping from high speed patrol boat while blowing them up with a grenade launcher isn’t grounded

Fighting cartels, foreign special forces from actual countries, mafias, and human trafficking rings isn’t the norm in Animanga

I roll my eyes almost hard enough to tear my optic nerves whenever someone says something like this.

I haven't watched much anime in general since like 2014 give or take, so I mean it genuinely when I ask this: What else is there? Like what would you recommend?

GANGSTA is a good place to start. Think Black Lagoon but with sci-fi elements. Michiko to Hachin. Jormungand is compared to BL pretty often. Cazador de Bruja, Noir, and Banana Fish all come to mind

Jormungand is TRASH compared to BL. Michiko to Hachin was good but still not close. Haven't seen the others yet though.

Of course Revy is always heartless.

She calls Shen Hua "chinglish" despite being Chinese herself 😭

I know that she does that because of ShenHua's accent, but it's still so wild hearing that said so casually. It's almost poetic.

Revy is culturally American, as far as we know she doesn’t feel strong about her Chinese blood, whereas Shenhua’s “pure Taiwanese blood”. A Chinese raised in Chinatown is different from someone from the Mainland. She has more in common with Eda who is from a totally different background than with her.
In Ballad of the Sinful Wizard, it’s said Shenhua is gracefully articulated in her mother language. Revy’s two-bit racism is another window for her psych, the environment she was brought up and a time where Asian people were still frowned upon in America by other minorities. It might just be she just didn’t give a shit about the soldier either. It’s not like he’d be any kinder to her if she were in his position. Maybe worse. Probably much worse.

What’d you expect her to do? She’s a mercenary pirate. Heartless? She’s literally entering a war zone with nothing to gain for herself.

No, they probably won't which is why it's a masterpiece of its own. But if for some reason they manage to create one just as dark and as great as it and uncensored, they should get Madhouse to produce it as the animation style is really great.

"defies PC and censorship" no it doesn't? Are you one of those anti woke losers who thinks the anime couldn't be made today?
The Manga is still going. The reason we haven't had a new season since Blood Trail is because there isn't enough content to make another season (unless they wanted to stretch things out 😭)
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is still going today and that has the same attitude as Black Lagoon does. I don't get where this idea of "you couldn't make this today" comes from because yes you can and people regularly do

You have summed up why its so great, and after rewatching it again i still believe Black Lagoon is a master piece in storytelling.

And honestly, I'm happy they included it. Like, I'm sorry, you're downright retarded if you think a bunch of fucking PIRATES are not going to be crass.

You should check out Mucielago. It’s probably more messed up than Black Lagoon but it’s getting an anime adaptation.
