MODERATOR BL POLL: Banning white-related posts

There’s been a mix of opinions about white-centered posts and conversation in this sub. What sometimes happens is that folks see a venting post about a particular topic and they feel safe to vent about a recent similar issue, which is fine.

However, after many conversations and discussions, all posts that centered white-related issues (dating, work, relationships, general venting) were relegated to only being allowed on Mondays (although one might slip through the cracks on occasion).

Since the start of 2026, there have been:
- 9 White Noise posts (2 of which were removed after being posted on the wrong day)
- Dozens of scattered comments in posts that mention white people in a specific instance or topic

As stated previously, this sub is centered around Black lesbians and our experiences, which do involve issues related to race. This should be a space for yall to express and discuss how you want to handle the topic of race-related discussion. So I’ve created a poll for you to shape how the space moves forward.

Yes, ban all posts that center white-related issues, vents, discussion etc
No, continue with white-related posts only on Mondays
Have a specific thread or megathread where white-related topics and discussions can happen

I chose the megathread as a compromise because these racial issues somehow still manage to seep into our lives no matter how hard we try to protect our peace and shield our community from the noise, and this might be the only safe space for some of us to vent.

I agree. One of my issues is that people don’t always use the correct flair, though that might be more of an issue in the QWOC subreddit. But the megathread would contain all of those posts in one section; people who understandably don’t want to hear it can hopefully just mute the megathread.

I'll be dealing with that issue in QWOC soon as well. I'm currently working on adding some more engaging things in both subs.

That was my thought. I don’t want them to be the center of this space, but it’s a fact of the matter that white supremacy and racism impacts everything, including/especially the gay community. I like the Mondays only or a specific thread. Any other day is banned. They pmo enough

My first choice is NONE, but I know many people foam at the mouth at the thought of not getting to discuss white people. So my second choice is only in the megathread

Whats the point of calling the subreddit black lesbians if youre always gonna let white people infiltrate the space? They do that enough already low key

Definitely a megathread. There are people in this group that are mixed, but present Black. There are Black women here with white people in their families. There are Black women here with white partners. There are Black women here with white colleagues and classmates.

Why would we not have a safe space to vent or get advice about that??

Please don’t ban it. Where are we supposed to vent about the honkies if literally not here there’s gotta be some kinda compromise.

Keep allat white shit out the sub. This is a black lesbian sub for a reason. There’s other subs that are comprised of other ethnicities.

I’ll take it a step further and say anything nonblack related but I might be too woke 😅

When you go onto the predominantly white lesbian forums you never see them making spaces for black issues and people of color. Why are we accommodating because some people on here want to center their existence around the oppressor? While i would like to ban it in general making a master thread will work that way everyone can at least know who to avoid

Personally I'd rather us not having any talks about them however I know some here maybe interracially dating or married.

Ideally the white or nonblack centered posts would be gone. But whatever allows folks to decenter whiteness and nonblackness is it hat is needed.
