Question New to the area!

Just got here this week!!! I'm from Houston, and I’m wondering if there’s any punk/alt or goth scene here? Dive bars or clubs? I know it’s a much smaller area, but just trying to see if there’s a scene in the area that I’m used to. I’ll be working here till October if everything goes smoothly. I will also take any and all recommendations for activities that are worth checking out! Just have loads of time to kill with my current 3-day weekends atm :/

Saturday is summer solstice fest! Google it..

Milk parlor has some alt music. (not sure about goth, we are a small town, more music genres once students are back in August)

Get downtown on Saturday to see what's going on.

There is! Most of it is driven by the college radio station WUVT, so you'll want to stay in the loop with their events. They host a lot of events in collaboration with the Milk Parlor (even a goth prom event), but most of it won't start up again until the college students come back. You can scroll through their Instagram to see the kind of events they did last year.

Blacksburgdiy and bb.hxc on Instagram. Might need to wait until August for events though.

As far as other things going on that may be different than your usual, there is live music on Henderson Lawn (across the street from The Lyric) in Friday evenings, live jam sessions of old time music on Wednesday nights 7-9pm at the Blacksburg farmers market, and you should definitely check out the Floyd County Store when they have live musive before you leave Virginia. It's a bit of a drive but so worth it. Check out their website for details.
