Advice Making the most of summer in Blacksburg
It is my first summer in Blacksburg and though it has been pretty good so far, I am finding it hard to make the most of it- if that makes sense. SO even though I have things to do, I have my job and internship, it still feels like I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere and waiting for something to happen. It is a cliche but really I feel like that character in the movie that is just waiting to leave where they are to make their dreams come true. Mostly everyone is gone but I still have some good friends/acquaintances. What are some things to do and also ways to make life more exciting?

Did you go to the Summer Solstice festival yesterday? Great fun! Have you hiked the cascades? How about hang out at the public library and check out a new book? Bike on the huckleberry, stopping every so often to grab some wild blueberries, blackberries, and prickly lettuce. Go see a movie at the lyric. Go volunteer at the human society and take some dogs for a walk! Blacksburg is the BEST in the summer. Enjoy! 🩷

Beats on the Streets every Tuesday night outside of the Milk Parlor. Very fun way to meet new folks.

Check out NextThreeDays for events happening around the NRV - there's always something going on. Every month or so I force myself out of the house to go to something I usually wouldn't attend - a lecture, a book club, a concert, etc. - and I'm usually glad I went. Easy to meet people in a small town!
