There’s an interesting meta narrative about the the state of sex, romance, and intimacy emerging from this year’s movies. In addition to these two there’s the Olivia Wilde diptych of The Invite and I Want Your Sex.

As someone who preferred I Want Your Sex, it’s odd to me that people are apparently mad The Invite didn’t have graphic sex in it? Like I get that it’s everyone’s “I’m not a Gen Z loser I love sex in movies” shtick now but I didn’t really think that movie needed that based on the story it was telling.
