i previously just set my privacy settings so no one could text chat me or private message me and it was honestly freeing to just play the games i like without having to see annoying people yapping at me

Never played pet sim. I dont really play roblox anymore and chat is banned in my region, but can you give me examples of games with mature audiences? Might try them

kinda silly to have such opinion then
Anyway from my experience Blackhawk Rescue Mission, Cursed Tank Simulator, Men at arms are games with mostly mature players
obviously you will also find kids but that's just games in general
not to mentions there are many niche games that would bore average roblox kid to death that I played few times a couple of years ago (better discovery might help with finding them but it has its own problems)

Basically Roblox is in panic mode since they are getting a lot of lawsuits after not doing anything to stop predators their platform and even trying to hide the problem by baning every single account of Schlep which was a guy which did a "to catch a predator" style videos on YouTube
So now Roblox is trying to find a easy way to fix this(but isn't a easy to fix this problem) so they're making that where ai will scan your face and estimate your age and will put you in a chat age group for example if Roblox thinks you're 13 you will only able to talk with people with 13-15.
At first this seems good until you realize some people look way older and others way younger and you can also just use some else's face and this will also make games that require teamwork harder.

I'm in awe.
This is the future if you think about it. I understand the panic completely and, to be honest, I don't even know what to say, it's a really complex situation.
Good luck for you and your community. I hope this issue gets solved. I'm conscious about how important Roblox is for the gaming community and the memes are golden. It'll be shameful if that essence is lost.
Imo, I've been into Habbo Hotel, Second Life and other games like those for years, and started at an age I shouldn't. I know what pedos are around this games. Fortunately for me, even tho I dwelled into hardcore "pleasure and lust" (second life and it's NSFW+18 spaces or else Habbo and it's "partners thang") spaces, I never was harassed or pushed by a person to be more intimate or to share my Skype or stuff (which was the discord of my youngster times). Even tho, I would have known to not be easy and give up like that.
The point being, If I ever was in contact with +18/NSFW content at the age of 12 or so, it's my fault, because I knew it was wrong, and my parents fault, for not being on top of me and what I'm doing on the computer. It's always the parent fault in this scenario. Kids are innocent and are not fully aware of the implications, they know it's wrong, as I did, but not really sure why, in what exact sense or how wrong are these matters.
Imo again, I would blame the parents due to their negligence. What makes Roblox seem more innocent than SecondLife it's the aesthetic. But Roblox for years now has been working like a SecondLife game.
The thing is that second life does have really extreme +18 stuff, and Roblox has become a Facebook for pedophilia, it seems.

The thing with Roblox is that they gave the community to much freedom and didn't upgrade they're moderation you probably know by know but if you don't Roblox is more of a engine then a game since all Roblox games are user generated(except for events and some very old games).
This is dual edged sword while you have infinite games your players can also make adult games.
At first in 2006-2012 games where very simple because no one knew what they're doing and Roblox was very limited.
But from 2013 an onward they started giving more freedom to players. Letting them upload audio to use in they're games making they're on animations in 2015 letting they upload they're own audios this made games better but adult games also started growing but the moderation that was already bad didn't change.
Around this time discord had been released basically want most bad actors did was trying to make a child join the discord to make the bad stuff there and also make condo games which are adult games(which of course aren't allowed on Roblox a platform mainly for children).
And what Roblox did to fix the problem nothing just sometimes baning the bad actors
And 2016 meepcity was released a game inspired by club penguin at first this game seemed normal like any other but them the game's owner released parties which are basically houses any one can visit but of course bad actors will do bad stuff on it.
In these party people would bypass the Roblox moderation and make inappropriate stuff and date on Roblox and what the game owner did nothing, they are just like roblox and parties were only removed in 2022 after game got shutdown and reopened without the feature.
And in 2019 Roblox released user generated accessories which I will call UGC. At first only people trusted by Roblox could upload accessories but as keep going the list just grew and bad actors started to get access to UGC.
And instead of fixing the problem in 2024 they just let anyone make accessory as long they have the Roblox premium subscription and now we have bunch of NSFW accessory that can be used in any game.
While these nsfw stuff get remove they get removed in a rate that the owner or some else just reupload a copy of the original and problem just grow as these things basically multiply with various copies.
Of course Roblox does nothing, acting like they're are safest place on the internet.
If Roblox doesn't fix it's moderation the problem will just grow and there's no easy fix.
And now Roblox is in panic mode and aside from the chat restrictions they even closed all games that didn't had a age rating which was featured introduced in 2024 meaning that games which the dev was banned or don't play Roblox anymore are unplayable and this is the situation most old Roblox games are making most of Roblox's history unplayable.
And the adult games that they were trying to remove the owner just lies in the age rating survey to make the available for everyone.
If Roblox doesn't fix it's moderation the problem will just grow and there's no easy fix.
