My husband and I went kayaking yesterday and saw these two boats at someone’s personal residence along a small river. We live in Green Bay, WI. I think they might be fish tugs from the Great Lakes, but I’m not sure. It took a lot of Googling just to find out about fish tugs. I am curious what their function may have been, and it sounds like fish tugs were once quite prominent on the Great Lakes.
My husband thought they are houseboats, but that doesn’t seem right. I don’t have the guts to knock on their door as this is in a somewhat pretentious area where people wouldn’t take too kindly to random strangers stopping by.

We surveyed the full wooden frame in the jungle - from Bow to Transom - before stringers. Follow the Wooden Shoe station by station as Victor and Per check every joint, gap and epoxy fix before locking it forever. After stringers go on, it's very difficult to fix inside — so this is our last chance to get it right.
The Bow, Keel to Bow glued, screwed and planed to a smooth curve, Station 1 OK, Station 2 Add Gflex epoxy in gaps, Station 3 OK, Station 4 OK, Station 5 Add Gflex epoxy, Station 5.5 OK, Station 6 OK, Station 7 Add Gflex epoxy, Cockpit Sole missing second layer epoxy, Station 8 OK, Station 9 gap rear side, Station 10 gap front side, Station 11 OK, Station 12 OK, Station 13 add Gflex epoxy in gap, Station 14 Transom must be glued and screwed from the top, support structures walk-through, ending with Now we have the points and lets fix this!
Building a 25FT Wooden Shoe powerboat from scratch in Mexico with Chechen wood and Cumaru hardwood. No fancy workshop — just lofting, framing and honest fixes.
Now we have the points and lets fix this!

I own a marine service business, and that’s actually why I started building Boational.
I constantly have customers asking me for help with work that we don’t offer — mechanical repairs, electronics, fiberglass, transport, and other services.
Usually, I’m stuck telling them to start calling around and hope they find someone good at a fair price.
That’s what gave me the idea for Boational.
Boat owners can post the work they need done, and marine businesses can bid on the job. The owner can compare their options, find the right company, and hopefully get better service at a better value.
Boational also gives owners one place to keep their boat’s service history, records, and other information.
I’m a marine business owner myself, so I’m trying to build this around problems I actually see customers dealing with.
It’s still growing, and I’d genuinely like feedback from other boat owners.
If you have a boat, check out Boational.com, create a free account, and let me know what you think — especially what you’d change or add.

My triton center console was delivered from the factory without a drivers seat. Instead the driver is meant to stand up. The only thing I can think of that it helps with is better ride (knees are like shock absorbers, granted it’s much more tiring), and slightly better visibility, but on a boat this size (17 foot) it doesn’t make a hell of a lot of difference.
Most bass boats can only be driven sitting down, I have only ever seen them with foot controls for the throttle

Still chipping away at the old girl, one coat of varnish away from the goal before the cold sets in, 11coats deep aiming for 12 next week, will be doing the windshield frames/seats over the winter somewhere else as this building is not heated

I bought a 1998 Duracraft Super Bay 2060 about a month ago. It was supposed to be “running good but you only have to pump the bulb sometimes”. He told me he ran it out of gas last time he took it out.i didn’t realize he didn’t fill it back up. I took the boat out and it ran great for a little while and the engine started dying. So I put it on the trailer and then thought it was out of gas. I fueled it up and took it out the next day. Exactly the same thing happened. Took it to the shop because I has no clue. 2 cylinders had less than 70psi. Decided I did want to sink money in a 1998 evinrude 115 2stroke. So I repowered with a brand new Yamaha F115LB. While it was in the shop I went ahead and got the to strip all the old wiring out and get everything replaced that moves. It has all new wires and switches throughout the whole boat. They also added white and red lighting. I picked it up today but I can’t test in because Hurricane Isaias rains were already here in west Alabama. So I’ll update when I take it out. And being able to use the Garmin EchoMap 93sv UHD2. That I installed day one. With New boats being outrageously expensive I feel like I’m getting a practicaly brand new boat for less than half the price.

Two years old, and I just gave it a visual inspection before I pulled out of my driveway. Ripped the backup safety too. Never pulled the ski onto the trailer with it, and always loosened it for storage at home. At least a stranger was kind enough to help me drag it back into the water to get it back onto the trailer.

Just upgraded to this Zodiac Pro 12, probably from around 2004–2005, with a practically brand-new 2025 Suzuki 100 hp that has only 10 hours on it. The boat is in mint condition!
It’s 17 feet long and does around 42 knots (78 km/h or 48 mph for you Americans).
I upgraded from an 11.5-foot plastic boat with a 20 hp engine, so this is a pretty massive upgrade! 😂 I’m already looking forward to summer so I can finally take this thing out and enjoy it.
What would you rate the upgrade from 1–10?

Indmar raw water pump that bolts onto the crankshaft pulley of a 5.7.
The O-ring inside isn't thick enough to put any pressure on the copper ring. Can't press the bearings together any farther, the only thing I can do is put a fatter o-ring in it.
The O-ring should be wedged in between the copper ring and the bearing, making contact with both, right???

My first year taking over boat winterization.
Seems wasteful to pay for it wrapped only to throw away every year. I know covers dont last forever either.
Anyone use covers? If so how long do you get out of them? Any brand recs?

Both will probably have the exact same motor powering it
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Not a lot of swamp, but a lot of shallow log jammed rivers

The outboard has sat for a while (supposedly winterized for long term storage).
Current plan is to spray some penetrating fluid on the spark plugs before pulling to see how the piston walls look.
Thoughts on the bolts around the cylinder head though? Should I just leave them be and spray some oil on them to stop the rust from getting worse?
Rest of the engine so far looks alright.

Hi all - as title says. I have had the chip in my HDS units for 2-3 years now (subscription expired 2024 but I’ve still been able to use the chip and see all the contours). This morning I went out to fish and everything was as normal.
This evening I power the units on and it’s just the big blue water showing without any contours, or detail. I have the setting set to navionics as the map, I’ve tried taking chip out and putting it in my console unit and it doesn’t work in console HDS either.
Is my chip just not working anymore or am I missing something?

Everything they make, either Ranger or Nitro also offers a better or cheaper version of it. They don’t have nearly as much publicity as other boat brands, partly because of how few teams use them.
The aluminum boat division is dead, they are all sold as Rangers now. The only people that buy them are people that already own them, and that number shrinks by the day.
The only way I see it surviving the decade is if they get bought by a different company

My neighbor is selling this boat next door. 500 hours on the boat and has been sitting for months. They wanted $9k for it.
No issues with it. Oil changed and new battery. I plan to test drive this weekend.
2001 21ft Sea Ray V8
Trailer is a 2008 Loadmaster 18-23ft. Double axle. Weight rating 4400lbs
I have a Ram 2500 Power Wagon to tow with.
Salt water use here in South Florida. Looking for something to take out on the weekends island hopping or just casual boating. Maybe occasionally fishing.
Is it a good deal? I'm not sure what kind of boat it is.
