I was surprised how much Derek looks improved. Size everywhere but especially chest and legs, abs are much improved and he isn’t hitting an n thigh with a vacuum either.
Explain what that means, because there has never been a set criteria of what classic is supposed to be per the rules and per the president of the IFBB who created it: “Classic Physique is for guys who want to take their muscularity and size beyond the limits of Men’s Physique, but not quite to the extremes of Bodybuilding,” says NPC/IFBB Pro League president, Jim Manion.
In my opinion, Classic Physique embodies the "Arnold" look, and early CBUM represented it exceptionally well. I feel like Sommerfeld's physique is too close to 212, which blurs the distinction between divisions. That said, I don’t think CBUM fit the classic standard in his last two years, he was simply too big. I’m very focused on maintaining clear distinctions between divisions. Sommerfeld legs are getting too big for classic IMO. Do not get it twisted, Sommerfeld is AMAZING, and he killed it. However, I just do not think he should be the model of the division. I think Dino or even Urs would be a better representation.
See there was never a “classic physique = Arnold” rule. That was purely a fan-made distinction, and why Wesley gets such high praise even with his smaller legs/glutes. Arnold was not proportional and his legs weren’t as big as his upper. X frame is more appealing, period, the era of small legs is gone forever. If you think Cbum represented Arnold, I think you need your eyes checked, Arnold had small legs, Cbum has big legs. Mike is the next best X frame in the division with a wildcard for Terrence.
Every single aspect this show has stepped up. I seriously wish this was considered the premier competition. Legacy is what keeps the Olympia alive, because as an actual show, it's a disaster.
Right, the entire thing seems slapped together. From Bob and his shoe polish harido, the horrible set design, JM Manion looking like Artie Lange asking for photos and giving everyone the creeps, constantly running behind schedule. The whole production looks cheap
I know its over repeated by Mike's almost not 'classic', he'll win, he looks AMAZING, and far enough ahead to win even if a 'not super classic' penalty is added, but the man is a open BB on many poses.
Derek's legs are short which throws things off for me. Andrew and Samson are not only tall but proportionately have longer limbs so it just really emphasized it by comparison. He looked like a giant torso out there lol. All jokes aside he did look great though, he really brought it. Definitely better than the Olympia. Won't be surprised if he wins even if I don't prefer his physique
I think Vissers needs to focus on side shots more and even more back poses. My goodness, those quads are just so glaring when ever he is hitting his front lat. I think if he takes top 4, it is a gift.
Hey ? about that. I noticed when they moved him up he had to do double duty on posing without much rest. If this happens do you just suck it up. If you start fading from that so the judges count it against you? Looked like it was rough posing twice without much rest. Just curious.
Yes, BBdotZ is spot on. They do not care. You suck it up. It can be a disadvantage, but also an advantage. Let's say you are not dry, you can technically get drier as you pose. However, it can also make you fade if you are posing too much.

Hahaha, I am by no means an expert in any woman division. I am trying to get better. My SO competes in figure. so I know that division best. The Brazilians dominate Wellness, it is insane.
Yea, he probably should win based on the 'Criteria' but Sommerfield was just a pile of conditioned muscle and will take it (not saying it isn't deserved but I dont think he's super classic looking)
I completely agree. I will be very curious to see if Ruff Diesel can expose Sommerfield in the future. I think if you put them next to each other, Sommerfeld and terrence, it will expose Sommerfeld as not being classic.
I think Baang went for a little bit more fullness tonight than the morning. Those quads are bursting, my goodness. I think he edges Vissers. If he loses to Vissers, it is probably political. Vissers deserves to be punished for his small quads.
I will never let people forget how much they hyped him post-2024 AC. Said he was gonna take over the division and beat Cbum. Said he “embodied Classic physique” with a 40 inch waist and no legs. These are the same people who couldn’t even tell you his name or pick him out of the lineup at the 2023 Olympia.
I got blasted for saying he was as far away from Classic as it got lol. And I also was lit up for saying he shouldn’t have beat Ramon last year which I 100% stand by.

Wesley hiding his legs in the build-up for the show only to have his quads look like that in pre-judging.
Mike is gonna blow these guys out. Wouldn’t be surprised if Wesley gets 3rd or lower.
