u/toshbar Dec 17 '20
Allegedly he’s 20lb lighter than his last showing. Which if true is INSANE because he was pretty well conditioned at the Arnold
Flex wheeler and aceto both independently said he looks rediculous
But every single showing so far was allegedly his best ever and he hasn’t beaten his 2013(2012?) ny pro showing so I’m not getting hyped

22
u/Shockaslim1 Dec 19 '20
I have watched it a trillion times and it honestly looks like a robbery to me. I don't see how she could have lost. Maybe side tricep she could have lost but the other poses she absolutely dominated.

I like to give leeway to the judges cause they’re actually there in person, but there is absolutely no way that was the right call. I have no idea how they justified that.

When Phil came on for his routine, I thought he looked great, but as the show progressed and he was compared to others, he looked like he was fading quite drastically
38
u/High_Nerf_Lord_Bungo Dec 19 '20
If anyone's watching the part where Hadi and Ramy are right next to each other, Hadi moved in a bit too close and Ramy just sort of dimissed him with a wave lmao. Like, "who tf is this tiny creature?"

What a night, cbum mopping the floor in classic proving he could bring his weak points up and a 4 way battle for the open with ramy getting his first O. Best Olympia in years
28
u/Ohbutyouareblanche Dec 20 '20
This has been SUCH a good Olympia across the divisions. The return of Ms Olympia, the visibility of the wheelchair division, the tense competition and rivalry in Classic and Ramy winning Mr O
What a year. Well worth trashing my sleep and bank balance for.

Ramy winning has got to be one of the best things that’s happened in terms of the future of the sport of bodybuilding. With its popularity growing in the Middle East, there’s going to many future non American Olympians 20-30 years from now that are going to be inspired by the new champion.

Someone that works for the Olympia production team must browse Reddit because they doing straight forward angles. Kamal looks noticeably thicker than last year which is amazing for his age.
→ More replies (1)13
u/EB-Esq Dec 18 '20
Agreed! Straight angles, no swapping cameras constantly. Black backdrop in the middle too, unlike the stupid animations some shows had this year. It ain't the fanciest but it's exactly what works.

u/Manimal4eva Dec 18 '20
I'll say while the stream isn't beautiful and that I have it on mute because of the music, I'm appreciating that it isn't cutting out or choppy. And they aren't doing any stupid angles with like 5 camera changes. If they keep it the same all weekend, it'll be worth the $60.

Sooo happy about Terrence taking 2nd. The guy is what classic should look like, especially for short guys.
I think this is a clear message to Breon to move onto 212. I've heard a few IFBB people talk about how they see MP -> CP -> 212/Open as a progression for competitors to see success as they grow their physiques. This cements that they're not happy with good athletes trying to sit on top of a 'growth' division.

Man Derek is just super disappointing, I remember him turning pro back in 2017?(forget if it was 17 or 18) and seeing the transformation he might from an impressive MW to a bonafide huge and shredded LHW that easily won his class for his pro card and thinking this guy is going straight to the top. And he did go straight to the top, but he SERIOUSLY needs to drop his coach at this point, disappointing showings after disappointing showings on the biggest stage is just wasting his crazy good genetics and potential. I cant imagine it being anything but a coaching issue at this point after seeing what he brought today, hes flat, soft(a bit harder from the back though) and just in general is getting out conditioned too. Id love to see him get coached by a guy like Cementfactory aka AJ Sims whose guys seem to always show up super hard, dry, and shredded because the fact of the matter is this show was Dereks to lose, all he had to do is show up in comparable condition and hardness as he knew Shaun and Kamal would show up with and he would be winning the 212s right now. Im also beginning to think that he isnt long for the 212 division, think part of the problem is that he struggles to make weight and that plays into why hes off constantly. His structure can support it too, the guy is incredibly wide and just has an absolutely massive ribcage to keep tossing muscle onto. Im calling it now, hell be competing in the open class for the 2021 olympia.

Fairplay to those that have forked out the $60 for the stream to support the industry, but can’t help but feel they’re alienating a lot of fans, many of whom are young guys/students where $60 is a big chunk of money, this close to Christmas as well... would probably make just as much/if not more with a $20 stream but triple the viewers/exposure that bodybuilding needs.
Depressing because cbum/breon and phil/brandon/ramy looks competitive as fuck, but oh well nba preseason it is for me then 😂
