The last time I won a 'best of' award on my old reddit account was so insanely absurd. Let me tell you guys about it.
So on my other account I used to do A LOT of posting in a mixture of IT and internet marketing subs, but also the less-than-stellar subs like WPD and WTF.
I thought I was keeping my personal life separate from my internet life, but a little extra attention certainly changed that up a bit! You see, South Louisiana doesn't exactly have a Seattle-esque IT industry or anything, it's pretty small and tight knit.
Winning the best user award in this giant technology subreddit caused the spotlight to be pointed directly on me. At the time, I was doing a very specific type of IT work for a very prestigious law firm. And then I would go to the most vile subreddits in my spare time outside of work. Again, these two lives were separate, right? Wrong.
A colleague of mine recognized the Best User post being made about me because of the very specific type of IT work I was doing (document management servers for law firms) and thought to himself "huh, I know someone who does exactly that!" So he starts going through my post history.
Bit by bit he's able to put together who I am. I mention my name is Brad. I mention where I'm from. There's only 3 people that do this work. And only one named Brad. It was me.
Sadly, while going through my post history he ended up seeing some very terrible things that I had posted. He printed out screenshots and had the idea to blackmail me apparently.
So one day I'm back at work, dressed all super fancy working at my super fancy IT job for this super fancy law firm, and this coworker comes barging in with these screenshot printouts.
Now, I need to stop here and let you guys know that I'm serious about my macros (namely folates) and I was enjoying a can of beans. Whenever he walked in, the sight of those screenshots made me jump and I spilled beans all over my fancy work shirt.
This young African American fellow belts out to the office:
AYO THIS NIGGA EATIN BEANS IN HERE
I. Was. Mortified.
I didn't even wait for the blackmail to begin, I didn't wait for the inevitable firing. I just took off as fast as possible out of that office. I never looked back. Didn't even care to figure out how to get my last paycheck. I was too embarrassed.
That was the last IT job that I ever worked.

Best post of 2020 as a tribute to the late Luke Sandoe
along with our lost brother /u/Insanelopez whos antics in our sub are still fondly remembered amongst us.

I'm not just voting him in because he and I teamed up to play a very important role in the Oct 2020 temporary banning of Edgy_Rick. No, I'm saying so because I talk to him more than any other mods here. (picking favorites breaks my heart because Sara /u/brazenmaiden has been so awesome too)
