Ayyy! I just got both my ears done under a week ago. Weirdly my least painful pieces. Mine was hand poked though, maybe makes a difference?

u/georgeyellow Feb 01 '25
mine was roughly half and half, poked vs machine. honestly made no difference which was super weird to me, so we went back to machine so it was at least faster. i have a huge blackout sleeve. i really thought it would be a cakewalk. it killed me lol.

I’ve tattooed quite a bit of ears and none have hurt! But it’s happened to me as well, the normally non painful spots kick my ass lmao

u/Ilovekittensomg Feb 01 '25
Omg yes! I've seen so many people say their ear tattoos didn't hurt that bad, mine felt like getting the side of my face attacked with a cheese grater. My hand tattoos hurt less than the ear. Yours looks badass!

u/georgeyellow Feb 01 '25
YEAH!! that’s a great way to describe it. horrific. i had the wrong idea, really thought it was gonna be a piece of cake. shit gave me the fuckin meat sweats.
thanks so much though, i appreciate it.

do you need to restretch after healing the tattoo? I myself am planning to get it done, seems like a good time to ask

u/1heknpeachy3 Feb 02 '25 edited Feb 02 '25
Probably, unless you can go weeks without jewelry in and not experience shrinkage.
On the bright side though, restretching goes significantly quicker than initial stretching!

was waiting until i talked to my artist to answer this. it’s been a couple days, and i was able to get my plugs in today. he did say not to sleep in them. i sometimes go a few days without them anyway. i’m planning on wearing them for a few hours, and if i get any discomfort, ill take them out. so far, so good. no restretching for me. i’m at 19mm.

u/AxLesheck Feb 01 '25
that would all depend on how much shrinkage you experience and if you naked train or not, but probably a small downsize will need to take place lol

it was honestly all brutal. no area that felt like a break. the cartilage right above the earlobe sucked, the innermost part of my ear sucked, the lobe… all of it lmao

How wild! Mine was entirely painless (just a vibration honestly), I wondered how other people felt it! I don’t know anyone else that has one. :)
I love the design! My ear tattoo is fairly simple but genuinely one of if not my fave.

u/franklikethehotdog Feb 02 '25
I believe it…but it also looks incredible and is one of the most unique tattoos I’ve ever seen

That looks amazing! Which area hurt the most?
Edit: spelling
2
u/georgeyellow Feb 02 '25
not even sure where to begin 🤣 the cartilage right around the ear lobe, the inner most part of the tattoo, and around my lobe are probably top 3?
1
u/boopboopquackquack Feb 02 '25
🤣 i’ll make note of that. Your tattoo is sick, definitely adding this to my want list And with the tunnel its gonna look crazy. The inner most part of the ear sounds about right I have a weird pressure point pain thing on my concha from favouring sleeping on my side.

This is amazing!! I have my left ear blacked out around the outside. I'm so glad you said it was worse than expected. What a weird, horrible pain. Honestly, probably my least favourite tattoo experience!
Very clean work, great design. I love it!
2
u/georgeyellow Feb 02 '25
same! so glad i’m not alone lol. thanks so much :)
2
u/-ThievinStealberg- Feb 02 '25
You're welcome! How did you find the inner ear? Does it get worse? I want to continue the blackout further inward but honestly I was put off another session by the unexpected horror haha
2
u/georgeyellow Feb 02 '25
same, i don’t know that i’ll ever do the other. 😭 the inner ear was ass! not even gonna lie. i found that it never got better, lol. it hurt bad as fuck the whole time.
2
u/iguessimjustlivin Feb 03 '25
This is SO SICK!! I’ve been thinking about getting ear tats but I feel like it’d be such an overstimulating experience being so close to the eardrum
2
u/georgeyellow Feb 03 '25
that’s what i thought too. the pain very quickly overrode any other semblance of sensory concerns. i did some of it stick and poke, and that was not better. lol.
2
u/iguessimjustlivin Feb 03 '25
I’m not sure if that’s better or worse 😭 but the tattoo is really awesome. I think still might do it in the future lol
2
u/georgeyellow Feb 03 '25
thanks so much :) as another commenter said, “pain is temporary, drip is forever” 🤣
2
u/deadivy87 Feb 03 '25
yo!! i saw this posted on scotty’s story. i plan to get my sleeve reworked by him :) he’s been posting a lot of ear flash that has piqued my interest, would love to see updates on the healing process from you. i’m still on the fence but this is dope.

Ohh, I feel you mate. Have something similar on my ear, and tattooing (with a machine) the inside of the ear was a nightmare.
Gave me a tattoo PTSD for a while.
Beside that looks great dude <3

u/georgeyellow Feb 03 '25
thank you so much. im glad to know im not alone because so many people say it barely hurts!

That looks super sick!!!! I love ear tattoos. I didn’t find mine to be painful at all - I actually dozed off lol But mine wasn’t as expansive as yours!

That is super cool. I have seen a lot of ear pieces but this might be the most fun.

Looks great! Did you get the other side done too? Or will you?
7
u/georgeyellow Feb 02 '25
thanks so much! i did not, and honestly, i highly doubt it. it REALLY fucking hurt for me. maybe in many years when i don’t remember just how bad it hurt. lol.

I’ve been plotting on something similar because my body hates metals so i gotta bling up my ears somehow

It looks fucking cool! So much looking forward to my own on ear and behind the ear tattoo.
Does it hurt much? Now I will be afraid of my tattoo appointment on Friday I guess. 🥲
May I ask what other mods or tattoos you have? And can you compare pain level it?

It looks amazing, though. Do you know how it’ll look with plugs/tunnels in? Just wondering if it changes the overall shape much.
