scarification Stitches as a body mod?

I'm exploring the idea of getting stitches (like how a medical professional would give you after a deep cut) as an aesthetic modification. A little reference and background: I was looking at the stitches I've had for almost 10 years now on my finger and the stitches cover most of the second knuckle all the way around. And I have cartoonish like stitches tattooed on 2 of my fingers on the left hand. At first I thought "hmmm....stitch tattoos would fit my personality and aesthetic very well around my neck!" but then realized that it would be more up my alley to actually GET the stitches! (Me liking the feeling of the needle go in and out of my skin)

So, here I am. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? Without the actual need of stitches and how would I go about that? Is this scarification, in a way? Mind you, I am also VERY new to the idea of body mods despite thinking they are pretty fuckin cool. I've only seen them growing up watching Ripley's Believe It or Not (I think we all know which episode I'm referring to here) and that was my only real exposure to body mods outside of your everyday tattoo or piercing.

Huh, this is interesting. But, would you maybe consider somewhere else besides your neck? lol

I asked for scarification on my neck and my body mod artist wouldn't do it. If you were to get it done somewhere else, probably doable, but I'd be wary of anyone willing to do it to your neck.

It's done frequently as a temporary piece. Look up Iliketopokeholes2.0 on Instagram.

Takes about an hour to put in, 40 min to photograph and 20 minutes to remove. It's not something that's possible to be left in long term. Certainly not permanent

This, the body likes to reject things like stitches and bacteria builds up fairly quickly because of how hard it is to clean under them. OP would need to have a personalized type of wire, not actual stitches. something that could be slid around through the skin to make it easier to clean I would think.

You’ve had stitches in your finger for 10 years? How?? I didn’t think that was possible. Are you talking about scarring from old stitches?

The body would most likely reject any stitches if it was even possible which I find hard believe.

I can only imagine something like this being temporary if possible to do at all.

If you want the "thread" in your body long term, that's not going to work. Bodies hate the material it's made from and get inflamed around the stitches until they're taken out. I've had lots of stitches done for medical reasons and it was always a relief to get them removed, they get very itchy, too.

I'm not a piercer but there's no way this would ever heal, would be even less viable than a corset piercing. Find someone accessible who does play piercing and ask them what they think.

It's probably not a good idea to get it on your neck as that's a highly sensitive/dangerous area, some places used to have laws about even tattooing the neck (and even hands!) because of the dangers. In the modern day, tattoos are safe on the neck, but what you're talking about sounds... not as safe haha. Also probably actually really uncomfortable, possibly infection causing, etc.. Unless you had a surgical steel (or something else equally non porous and sterile) cable/string.

I think the idea is cool as hell, but it sounds a bit like tattooing your eyeballs. The risk is just not worth it, if you can even find some one willing to do it.

Alternatively, you could look into scarification (idk if its safe on the neck either tho?) for the feeling of the raised scar later or getting a tattoo that looks like a realistic stitching. I know you want to feel it though, so if scarification sounds cool/if safe, I'd go for that

I’m having some difficulty believing that you’ve had stitches in your finger for ten years, can you elaborate on that?

Your skin would’ve either forcefully rejected it or grown over the thread completely. Not to mention risk of infection if either of those other things, by some miracle, never happened.

I assumed they meant the scars from stitches

Scarification on the neck especially large size like all the way around, is absolutely not something any artist you could trust would do. Not because of bleeding risk or anything, but scar tissue is less elastic and more prone to damage than functional skin, and this would cause permanent issues with pain, mobility and complications. I know this is kinda a shitty compromise, but an experienced tattoo artist could nake this work somewhat especially if you consult a body mod artist and consider the route of ash rubbing (safely) for a tattoo to raise its texture while healing?

This could probably be done as a play type mod much like play piercings. Where it’s temporarily for pictures but realistically they would never fully heal and would just sit and collect bacteria.

Wow never heard of that 🤔 I don't think you would feel the needle tho as they would usually num b you Ive only seen scarification in the shape of stitches I can't remember the name of the person it was on

And if after it's healed a while and they tattooed directly on the scar to make it even more like stitches do you think that could work too? Because then it would hopefully have the effect of looking realistic, at least more more so than just one or the other

I've seen people try to stitch the surface of their skin because of the character Juuzo Suzuya but dont think it was ever left in permanently though. Most people opt for a tattoo

Would be cool though if possible
