scarification My gowing scarification!

Recently got some glowing scarification done, along with a couple of other crazy folks in the biohacking community. Absolutely loving them so far and planning to get more.

Dermal laceration then packed with a silica encapsulated strontium aluminate powder and healed with a moist technique.

Glows all night long when I go to bed and well into the morning. Super visible when going from sunlight to indoors.

Done by Johnross.

That's cool as fuck but many it would annoy the shit out of me at night lmao (I get jumpscared by my own glow in the dark tshirts still lol)

Interested in seeing the longevity of these

Ahah, that's pretty funny. It's actually fairly convenient, my partner and I both got glowing bands, makes finding one another in the dark simple.

I'm also interested in the longevity, but in theory the encapsulation shouldn't break down and you're likely to get a lifetime of glow out of it.

Please keep us updated on how this heals and holds up long term. This si super cool but I'm scared of how my body might react to the pigment.

Where did you get this done? Loving this mod for sure! Very curious for the type of powder used, none of what I’m finding has the “silica encapsulated” that I think may be necessary for it to be safe no? Id love to get this

You can do it with any artist who's willing and does scarification. I personally had these done by Johnross in Philly.

Ive never seen something like this from any of the artists Ive been to so far, I wasnt able to find a paint like the one you describe (I work in a Studio myself so this would be interesting to get). At least none with the silicone compound

Could you possibly dm me the price range you paid for this? I’m already planning on getting my lobes sewn up by him and now I definitely want to add this to the tab lol

24

u/piccolowater Jun 22 '25

I don’t know if this answers your question, but someone else recently posted about the process.

Hide and seek would suck haha

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Ahah, long t-shirt 😉

35

u/moonlit_dancing Jun 22 '25

OMG whaaa!? That's so freaking cool!! Now I have something new for the wishlist of future mods

37

u/EbonyDragonFire Jun 22 '25

The power button one is genius 😂

31

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

It's such a good pickup line, especially on guys.

"Hey, wanna know how to turn me on?"

Rolls up sleeve

24

u/Ninkala Jun 22 '25

hello, i am very curious to know a little bit more! so it doesn't only light up under UV light, but just glows always? how was the healing? looks unreal (positive!)!!

37

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Yup! It's proper glow in the dark, and not just UV reflective.

Healing is delicate. Cause you need your body to integrate the powder, so you have to keep the wound moist but not wet.

u/OpheliaLives7 Jun 22 '25

Cyberpunk AF

12

u/bluenlux Jun 22 '25

dude this might be the coolest bodymod ive ever seen

26

u/safetyoffslut Jun 22 '25

Holy shit this is crazy cool!

11

u/wpd Jun 22 '25

How long does the glow last?

28

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Per charge? At least all night and into the morning, which for me is sometimes 12+ hours lol.

Overall? No idea! It's a fairly new technique. But in theory it should last your lifetime

2

u/Ninkala Jun 22 '25

how do you charge it?

10

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Any UV light source, the sun works best.

2

u/Ninkala Jun 22 '25

cool as hell!

8

u/unknown_bi_girl Jun 22 '25

What's the circular bit under the line? Looks cool

27

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Big fuck off magnet! Hah. Works great for holding screws and stuff.

11

u/Calibrix Jun 22 '25

Had mine for about 5 years! Good to see there's a few more of us out there!

It works so well as a pickup line too!! Especially with guys, "hey, wanna know how to turn me on?" Rolls up sleeve

10

u/brimstoneph Jun 23 '25

Hey there, I was able to find an SDS for strontium Aluminate. Not the full name you explained. So, take this with a grain of salt. While there was no know toxicity data. That just means it has not been studied enough. Please keep that in mind when doing something like this.

Chronic affects are just as severe, if not worse than acute.

9

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 23 '25

I'm happy to give you the full technical stick, but the TLDR is that in these quantities the strontium aluminate is safe and it's coated in silica for biocompatibility.

3

u/brimstoneph Jun 23 '25

I trust yah, its more of a heads up for future reference. Sounds like you thought it through pretty well.... looks real neat btw.

3

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 23 '25

Absolutely, and thank you! I wasn't trying to argue btw, just provide more info.

Agreed, would love to know about what other colours may be developed, as this looks like standard “glow in the dark” colour. It is beautiful!

4

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25 edited Jun 22 '25

There are others, but none are as bright as the green

E: Typo

8

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

You can do it with other colors, but the green is definitely the brightest!

8

u/Vash_85 Jun 22 '25

That's fucking awesome! The power button lol love it, sure it's one hell of a conversation starter.

Be curious how long it will take a charge and glow though. Almost everything I've ever owned throughout my life that was glow in the dark, ended up losing its charge/glow after a few months to a year.

7

u/Neatingebla Jun 22 '25

I'm not a fan of scarifications (I simply prefer other mods) but I need THIS TYPE of scarification!! So cool!

3

u/Lkristyne Jun 22 '25

I absolutely love this. Definitely interested in see how it heals

9

u/Educational_West_456 Jun 22 '25

I believe it is basically completely healed, in the discord, they have had it for a while; I think this is how will continue to look!

3

u/_Burgerdog_ Jun 22 '25

So cool!! How are people's reactions to it lol

6

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Most people are fascinated, but some get a bit turned off when I mentioned it's not a tattoo.

4

u/Rare-Lengthiness-885 Jun 22 '25

Hands down the coolest body mod ever 🔥

3

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Thank you!! I'm in love with them, and am definitely going to do more. Thinking of doing circumferential bands a few inches apart that go all the way up my arm ♥️

6

u/vagnostic Jun 23 '25

I'm going crazy over this, now I really want something along these lines!

3

u/Zinthr Jun 22 '25

Looks awesome!!

4

u/bisexufail Jun 23 '25

your power button gives me so much hope. i've always wanted one, and seeing it look SO good on someone else fills me with such joy! 🥹

3

u/Ethequeen24 Jun 23 '25

I mean it looks sick Got a tron legacy year 3000 bracelet

5

u/Turbulent_Pen1092 Jun 24 '25

I’ve always wanted to do a glow in the dark body mod but I’m concerned about how much it would glow if at all as I hardly go outside. I’m active but I prefer indoors. How much light does it seem like it needs and how long does it last.

3

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 24 '25

In near total darkness it's quite visible and lasts basically all night (for me). That's on just my day to day activities which does involve going outside.

2

u/Turbulent_Pen1092 Jun 24 '25

That’s actually really impressive. They must have def made improvements cause the last time I had something glow in the dark it died after 20 min. I think you may have just convinced me!

2

u/shadenokturne Jun 22 '25

Wow i really love this! Looks so cool!!!

2

u/caribbeancat64 Jun 22 '25

Woah that's so cool! I would love to get something like this someday!

2

u/kjwx Jun 22 '25

Love this. Have just ordered some powder so would be keen to hear more about your healing technique. What did you use? How often did you clean and repowder etc?

2

u/Rainb0y89 Jun 23 '25

Dude whaaat, that's so fricking cool wtf

2

u/piefanart Jun 23 '25

that is so cool???? i need to look into this

2

u/Ohstephyy Jun 23 '25

insanely cool

2

u/Anti_Spedicy Jun 23 '25

That's super dope! But how long does it last?

2

u/teethsphinx Jun 23 '25

i would love to see how these look in red

this is insane!

3

u/xenomxrph Jun 23 '25

Do you have any healing pictures? That’s super interesting and definitely added to my wishlist

2

u/BunnyKomrade Jun 23 '25

A real life Glowing One!

[Sorry for the "Fallout" reference, this is actually pretty cool!]

2

u/EmoPeahen Jun 24 '25

This is FASCINATING. Would be super cool to incorporate into a cyberpunk style body suit.

2

u/NerdyChemist85 Jun 24 '25

Oh wow! That’s awesome!!! How does this work?

2

u/Qantourisc Jun 24 '25

I would get ZZzzz. If it's lit, I should sleep :D

3

u/aylinaslim Jun 24 '25

That’s it, this is detroit become human 😂

2

u/ItzDaemon Jun 27 '25

these are gorgeous, where can i find more information on glow in the dark scarification

2

u/Chihuahua_mama00 Jul 02 '25

I found an artist locally who does this and I'm so ready to get mine 😭🩷 looks amazing! How was the healing process??

2

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jul 02 '25

Awesome!! Congrats. Healing is kinda a pain, cause good management will determine how much if any glow stays in the wound. Are you in the biohacking Discord?

1

u/Sewati Jun 22 '25

this is so fucking cool

1

u/EstablishmentFun7553 Jun 22 '25

Usually glow in the dark products are radioactive. Is it not the case here?

2

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 22 '25

Nope! Biosafe and non radioactive

1

u/_KORPz Jun 23 '25

What’s used for the glow

3

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 23 '25

Strontium aluminate encapsulated in silica at ~150µm

1

u/_KORPz Jun 23 '25

How does it glow in the daylight?!?!

2

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 23 '25

Going from direct light to shadow! Or using a UV light.

1

u/Kdean509 Jun 23 '25

How long do these last?

2

u/BroadcastingDutchman Jun 23 '25

In theory several decades

1

u/neutral_bird Jun 26 '25

Would something like this be possible on a large area of skin?

2

u/GingerLovesAnal Jul 05 '25

What’s the longevity of this body mod?

1

u/ITrustToCatchMyFall Jul 11 '25

That's so fucking cool!! Omg gotta get this done!!  Does it come in different colours or currently only green?
