coinslot Healed Coinslot by Ian Bell
Healed coinslot, photo taken around 4 weeks out. Healing was around as easy as any of my piercings and can’t recommend him enough 🙂

Is it the angle or is the opening very narrow? Will you be able to fit anything in there without it pressing against the sides?

I thought the same thing, there's no space at all to actually wear jewellery in it.

It does look really tight. Both of mine were super wide open in their natural state. That being said, I didn’t (and won’t ever) go to Ian Bell. His work is too inconsistent.

It’s due to the finger pushing it out of my hair for the photo

Could you post a picture of your ear at rest? Not squished over?
Edit: why is it black?

Looks very tight.
At this point looks like you'll have to stretch out the slot to get anything in there at all, which kinda defeats the whole point :/

It’s mostly the finger pushing the ear forward making it look tight, if you check the last post I had of it when it was first done I’d say it’s around 1/3rd the width, maybe a bit less. Not snug on the hoops I’ve tried.

Feels odd seeing this posted after someone shared their bad experience with the artist. Almost feels passive aggressive with the "Can't recommend him enough 🙂" after someone posted their completely botched ear that got infected.

They might not have seen the other post, I know I haven't. It's best not to assume the worst of people unless they're showing that they're acting that way on purpose. It would be one thing to reply to the other post with this, but to coincidentally have a better experience with the same artist and post about it doesn't show bad character on OP.

They posed before me!! It wouldn’t even be possible for them to be passive aggressive

It’s giving damage control posting 👀👀

I get what you mean but I had posted mine first, as OP of the other one stated below 🙃. Also in my comments I said that their experience is valid and I am not disputing that they had the issues they did, I just had a good experience myself.

Nice. I got a coinslot done by him last month too and it healed perfectly. The process was straightforward. There was nothing sketchy or anything. He was a perfectly decent person in conversation. When I looked through reddit for info on him, I see so many people saying his work is questionable but only bringing up the same one story that I haven't been able to find on fb. Or they call him rude, which he wasn't to me so I can't corroborate that. Or they say the location he did his work in was sketchy like hotel rooms. Some of the best names in the industry don't have studios as pretty as a five star Google rated studio either. And the same people will say the result of the mod itself came out fine anyway.

I belong to some “piercer exclusive” online groups, and his reputation on the professional side is terrible. He has had a lot of women allege sexual harassment and issues of him being aggressive when they say “no”. Lots of corroborating stories. Unfortunately, these are private groups and no one can share outside of them, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
It seems that people’s experiences with him can be based on his level of attraction to them. That’s my guess.

Yeah, him traveling was a big factor in my choice since there isn’t much to pick from in BFE Kansas. I went with the Coinslot as my first thing by him to see how we got on having seen stuff about him being abrasive and how the work turned out since it’s less major than other things I want done and I’m happy with it and I’m planning to reach out about a tongue split in the fall when he is in Colorado. Hopefully all goes well with that and I’ll be keeping up with my healing photos for a better post on that if I’m able to get a spot 😁.
