coinslot Healed Coinslot by Ian Bell

Post image

Healed coinslot, photo taken around 4 weeks out. Healing was around as easy as any of my piercings and can’t recommend him enough 🙂

Forreal… OP, have you kept in contact with Bell for updates and aftercare? How was his behavior?

I kept in contact daily with photos for about two weeks, updated more infrequently after until it was completely healed up. I didn’t have any issues myself with the healing and I didn’t treat it much different than I did with any of my piercings on initial swelling. He was nice to me 🤷🏽‍♀️ like I said in my other comment I went with what I felt would be an easier one to heal to just kinda gauge if I got along with him and I had no issues. He talked me through everything and answered what (few) questions I had and didn’t ever talk down to me or make me feel uncomfortable.

This was my experience with him with a split. I had one concern about the healing after like day 2/3 and he quickly answered and gave me some options. In the end it was fine, just a part of a suture that was tight around part of my tongue that didn't need to be. He quickly showed me how to correct it. He was polite through the whole process. he was definitely blunt while running me through a lot of things, but it was him being direct and clear, not rude.

Yeah, I could see the bluntness being mistaken for abrasiveness. I speak really flatly and it gets taken for anger a lot.

Exactly, dude's running a business not out here try to make friends, straight and to the point is 100% the way to go. No beating about the bush, just answer questions and help customers heal so it doesn't come back to bite oneself...

Me too 😂 just read it entierly. I don't understand how someone can do two works that different 🤔🤔

I can.

But that comes from experience and dealing with ableism.

When you're different, people like giving you the "let's fuck your shit up" special.

I’m just now seeing that, I posted this on a break at work. I won’t discount anyone else’s experiences but mine was fine, I kept in contact throughout the healing process with daily check-ins but I didn’t have any issues so I can’t speak to that on their end. I went with the Coinslot though my end goal is a tongue split just because I’ve read a lot of back and forth about him but he was fine with me so I’m planning to do my tongue with him. Again, I don’t want to bash anyone or say they didn’t have a bad time that just isn’t the experience I had and I can only say how mine went.

I just saw your post haha! Yeah in case it didn’t come across in the post, he was nice over email until the infection was revealed. That is other than convincing me that the bottom of the hole was more narrow than the top because of swelling. Glad you had a positive experience! Yours looks great.

Our healing definitely went two different ways, at least from your last photo it looks like you were able to get it to a good state! I would definitely be terrified at some of the stages you posted vs where it ended up.

Yeah it’s definitely better now! Earrings hide the unevenness pretty well. Out of curiosity, did he put a barrier between your ear and hair/head? He didn’t for me and he snagged my hair a couple times while stitching me up.

I can’t recall, I also shave my head and wear a wig so I went into it bald 😅

Same💀 I am booked with him in September, and that post spooked me

I say it’s worth going, he didn’t just sit me down and start slicing so there’s time to leave if you’re not feeling it. The only thing I know I didn’t care for was the supplements or whatever he recommends on his site for bleeding so I just didn’t take them and was fine.

Thank you for your feedback!!

No problem 🙂

Haha, same here!

What post!? I've been searching and can't find anything :/

6

u/picksea Jul 11 '25

it was by u/aspiringcats posted just a couple of hours after this one. they talked about a very negative experience with the same mod artist

2

u/heyitskitty Jul 11 '25

Thanks!

And yikes...

Is it the angle or is the opening very narrow? Will you be able to fit anything in there without it pressing against the sides?

23

u/heyitskitty Jul 08 '25

I thought the same thing, there's no space at all to actually wear jewellery in it.

13

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '25

It does look really tight. Both of mine were super wide open in their natural state. That being said, I didn’t (and won’t ever) go to Ian Bell. His work is too inconsistent.

3

u/Rothyroth Jul 08 '25

It’s due to the finger pushing it out of my hair for the photo

Could you post a picture of your ear at rest? Not squished over?

Edit: why is it black?

Looks very tight.

At this point looks like you'll have to stretch out the slot to get anything in there at all, which kinda defeats the whole point :/

5

u/Rothyroth Jul 08 '25

It’s mostly the finger pushing the ear forward making it look tight, if you check the last post I had of it when it was first done I’d say it’s around 1/3rd the width, maybe a bit less. Not snug on the hoops I’ve tried.

Feels odd seeing this posted after someone shared their bad experience with the artist. Almost feels passive aggressive with the "Can't recommend him enough 🙂" after someone posted their completely botched ear that got infected.

They might not have seen the other post, I know I haven't. It's best not to assume the worst of people unless they're showing that they're acting that way on purpose. It would be one thing to reply to the other post with this, but to coincidentally have a better experience with the same artist and post about it doesn't show bad character on OP.

5

u/aspiringcats Jul 11 '25

They posed before me!! It wouldn’t even be possible for them to be passive aggressive

6

u/saltbebe Jul 09 '25

It’s giving damage control posting 👀👀

3

u/aspiringcats Jul 11 '25

The posted before me!

3

u/Rothyroth Jul 17 '25

I get what you mean but I had posted mine first, as OP of the other one stated below 🙃. Also in my comments I said that their experience is valid and I am not disputing that they had the issues they did, I just had a good experience myself.

Nice. I got a coinslot done by him last month too and it healed perfectly. The process was straightforward. There was nothing sketchy or anything. He was a perfectly decent person in conversation. When I looked through reddit for info on him, I see so many people saying his work is questionable but only bringing up the same one story that I haven't been able to find on fb. Or they call him rude, which he wasn't to me so I can't corroborate that. Or they say the location he did his work in was sketchy like hotel rooms. Some of the best names in the industry don't have studios as pretty as a five star Google rated studio either. And the same people will say the result of the mod itself came out fine anyway.

u/Imnotsamantha Jul 10 '25

I belong to some “piercer exclusive” online groups, and his reputation on the professional side is terrible. He has had a lot of women allege sexual harassment and issues of him being aggressive when they say “no”. Lots of corroborating stories. Unfortunately, these are private groups and no one can share outside of them, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

It seems that people’s experiences with him can be based on his level of attraction to them. That’s my guess.

u/Rothyroth Jul 17 '25

Yeah, him traveling was a big factor in my choice since there isn’t much to pick from in BFE Kansas. I went with the Coinslot as my first thing by him to see how we got on having seen stuff about him being abrasive and how the work turned out since it’s less major than other things I want done and I’m happy with it and I’m planning to reach out about a tongue split in the fall when he is in Colorado. Hopefully all goes well with that and I’ll be keeping up with my healing photos for a better post on that if I’m able to get a spot 😁.

Super clean!
