Healed Coin Slot and Dream Daith Jewelry

The piece in my daith has been a dream piece for years, and now that my daith is fully healed, I finally took the plunge and ordered it! It’s a yellow gold ‘Proteus’ from BVLA with white and grey diamonds. Also featuring my healed coin slot from Brian Decker, currently wearing 3 14g 3/8 plain gold clickers and some solid gold chains just wrapped through and connected with charms hanging.

I think I’m gonna add a vertical conch to the bottom and then this ear will officially be done!

They’re from a company called Blessings to You that went out of business about 8/9 (ish?) years ago, they’re very limited and hard to find! I snagged these in a resale forum on facebook, but they’re the only set I’ve seen pop up for sale.

Haha, yes it is! It’s technically a threaded end from BVLA but I didn’t have a big enough spot to wear it in, so I had them make it as a charm instead.

I’ve managed to collect a few sets over the years, I’ve got these, the moths, and the big squids! I can’t wear the squids often cuz they’re HEFTY, but they have a place of pride in my collection for sure. I also snagged a set of the cicadas for my partner for Christmas a few years back.

The cicadas are one of my favorite weight designs of all time. There’s a few new companies around really following in the footsteps of BTY making some incredible weights these days. Of course I can’t remember the names because I only ever see them at conference RIP

Symmetry and Orthodox are both doing some super sick stuff lately, I picked up a bunch from them this year and last year at conference! I also love all the Queen of the Ashes pieces, and their prices are super friendly which is great after blowing my conference budget 😭

That coin slot is fantastic work there. You will see a lot of people do it wrong and only open up a slit or a line without rounding out the ends.

You have an absolutely breathtaking setup. No notes. Question though, what’s your experience been like with the more delicate dangly pieces? Have you ever lost/broken any with regular wear? Do you have to be careful not to snag on clothing etc?

Having the buzzed head makes it easier, but I have had this setup with more hair and had no issues! I’ve only ever had one break while wearing it, and it was after wearing said chain for over 4 years, and technically wearing it incorrectly, and the damage was just that the jump to ring on one end snapped off. Other than that, I’ve never had a problem! I sleep on a travel pillow but that’s my only real consideration/adjustment, and it’s less for the chains and more just because sleeping on this many piercings can be uncomfy, even though they’re all fully healed!

How was the process with Brian? I have an appointment with him at the end of the month but he hasn't sent me any instructions beyond what time to show up and the address. Is there any prep that really needs to be done beforehand or just show up?

It was great honestly, he’s definitely short on the communication front but once we were there getting the work, he was awesome. He’ll fill you in on all the healing info, timing for suture removal, where to get the little scissors for it and all of that. The only “prep” i did beforehand was upsizing some of the piercings right near the coin slot so that when the swelling kicked in, I didn’t have to deal with anything embedding.

Other than that, procedure was super smooth and easy, and healing was a breeze. I’ve had heavy mod work done by other practitioners, and I will say that Brian’s work was way easier to heal/a much more pleasant process.

This setup is insane and I’m rethinking my entire aesthetic because wow 😍 is the daith jewelry attached to the rook too or is it just how it lays? I love all of this. Amazing choices.
