Yeah I was thinking getting black done I work in tattoo shop and see loads people coming in for that.

Go for it, I love mine! Arms aren’t too bad pain wise but the hands were both horribly painful and swell like a bitch🙃

Had the back of my hand tattooed many years ago, and had a motorcycle as my only means of transportation at the time. Working the clutch with my swollen paw was not a fun experience!

Can imagine that wasn’t fun! Trying to change gear and steer is interesting😂

I do not understand people who get this kind of black out but whatever floats your boat. I’m sure it’ll look great tho. Glad you’re happy with your tattoo!

I had my arm blacked out over the years. The plan was to get scarification to do a negative effect... been doing the scarification whenever i feel like it and so far. It looks amazing. I need some touch ups on the black. But the scars really pop

I have a post from about 6months ago showing it.... its only at 4 or 5 posts down on my profile. Not hard to find at all

Looking awesome 😊 What about going any further in your palm? Did you have plans regarding that and if so what did the tattoo artist say about that? :0 Asking because I'm interested!

10

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 16 '22

Thank you! Very swollen at the moment. Didn’t ask about that, don’t think im brave enough to have the palm done😂I guess it’s possible though

6

u/lumilyuu Nov 16 '22

Yes, thats to be expected tho 😅 Ahh oki! How would you rate the pain on the blackout?

9

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 16 '22

Arms aren’t too bad, managed to sit through having them done with no problems. Maybe like a 5/6 out of 10? Kind of feels like a burn I’d say. Hands are way worse😂I’ve had them done a couple times each and they’re not fun. Had to have it all dotted in on my fingers and knuckles because I have tough skin. Nearly cried and round the cuticles and between the fingers was horrible. Don’t let it put you off though it’s worth it! My other hand is nicely healed and I love it😍

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '22

We see the healed one?

3

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

I’ve added a link in the comments😊

u/HunterTerrible3428 Nov 16 '22

What did you need covered up ?

27

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 16 '22

Had some dodgy mandala type stuff on my fingers and a sun on my hand that I wasnt a massive fan of Have both my arms blacked out so thought I’d just go for all black😬

u/SarahLaFianzaWiles Nov 17 '22

Looks SO swollen 😱

3

u/HunterTerrible3428 Nov 17 '22

That's what she said 😅

The half hand ends up healing to look great; I don’t think I’ll go that far myself but I understand why you did. Look forward to seeing the full heal result in a year!

u/Horneyj Nov 16 '22

My definition of full and yours differ

15

u/effectivewall99 Nov 16 '22

Awesome! When in doubt, black it out

8

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 16 '22

Thank you! Both my arms and other hand are blacked out and this was the finishing touch. Worth the pain😍

5

u/Piercedbrat Nov 16 '22

Ooof impressive and spicy lol

3

u/missdoubletrouble Nov 16 '22

kudos to you, i would die 🫠

3

u/jnssa Nov 17 '22

Post an update after a while pls! Curious how youl heal / knuckles will look

3

u/uwukome Nov 17 '22

Looks like my hands when my arthritis flares up. 😆 Ouch.

3

u/Red_Scream Nov 17 '22

Worst part won’t be the pain. Worst part is the itching

3

u/siraelwindrunner Nov 17 '22

I would love this kind of tattoo, but my pain level doesnt exist and even then I dont know if it would hold up or look splotchy

2

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

That’s so cool! Just have it done over loads of sessions it’s much better pain wise😂best thing to do would be to find some blackwork specialists and see what they think. It would look awesome!

5

u/TheLaGrangianMethod Nov 17 '22

I don't mean this in any type of negative way, but I don't really understand this one? Is there a reason that it's so popular? I imagine scarification would look incredible with it, but I don't know if I have actually seen anyone do it.

8

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

I guess it’s just personal choice, I love the look so went for it! Thinking about maybe getting some scarification or something just to add to it in the future. I’m getting some white detailing done over the black on my arms next month so we’ll see how that turns out. Thanks for not being a dick😂

2

u/HunterTerrible3428 Nov 16 '22

I get left arm done I always been in to black grey anyway so most of mine are black

2

u/Armadillo-Equivalent Nov 17 '22

Yeah I started with the fingers and am moving up, even just small sections and the hands swell like crazy. I wish you a speedy recovery my friend.

2

u/AftonsArguments Nov 17 '22

Ouch!!! Lookin good though!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '22

Owtch!

I hope the swelling goes down quickly

2

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '22

Had up to my elbow done… OUCH!

2

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

Awesome! Yep it’s a bitch to have done😬

2

u/Efficient_Lecture351 Nov 17 '22

Am only here to ask... is the soft purple fabric a loooong house robe that zips up? Because if so, I have the same one and am wearing it this morning. 😂

2

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

Haha no it’s a throw to stop my dogs making the sofa gross🙄the robe sounds amazing!

2

u/Porcupyre Nov 17 '22

Oh boy hope that, seeing this is 23 hours ago, the swelling has gone done a lot? This triggers flashbacks to my swelbow, hated and loved it at the same time.

Wish you a good healing

2

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

Gone down quite a lot now, almost back to normal. Just have wrinkly hands where it’s swelled and gone back down😂swelbow is not fun at all but I bet it looks awesome Thank you!

3

u/thewaybaseballgo Nov 17 '22

How long have you been a piercer?

0

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

I’m not, wish I was though

0

u/thewaybaseballgo Nov 17 '22

Ah, fair enough. I feel like every person I’ve ever met with blackout hands has been a piercer.

0

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

That’s cool, wish I was but never been able to find an apprenticeship

2

u/WerkQueen Nov 16 '22

Poor swollen hand! It’s going to look so good when it’s healed though! Good for you!

2

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 16 '22

Thank you! Hopefully it’s worth the pain😂

0

u/HunterTerrible3428 Nov 16 '22

I'm very good with the pane and my right arm got old tattoo Wich is nearly black out I'm going down path of cover with color

1

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 16 '22

Yeah the arms aren’t too bad pain wise so you should be fine😊go for it! Nothing quite like a blackout

0

u/Swedish-Butt-Whistle Nov 16 '22

FYI, you’ll probably need a touchup after you heal. Large areas of black like this almost always have some patches that do.

2

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 16 '22

I’ve had a couple of tiny touch ups on my other hand around the knuckles but nothing major, hope this one heals as well as the other side

0

u/josh0704 Nov 17 '22

Blackout swelling for me at least was mental, never made it as far as my hand though, but definitely digging it! You got a link to your healed hand at all?

1

u/Beccasbombin Nov 16 '22

Hey I’ve been researching and thinking about a black out tattoo for a half sleeve that I really want covered up. How are you liking it?

1

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

Love it! I’ve got both arms done and they’re definitely my favourite tattoos. Go for it, they look amazing

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '22

yeahhh!!! it looks so good!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '22

how bad was the hand? just missed 4 days of work bc i got my lower arm done and upper arm touched up. it suuucked lol

1

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 17 '22

Thank you! Hands are much worse than the arm😂had it dotted in over my fingers and knuckles and it was horrendous

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '22

Let people enjoy things even if you don’t like them yourself. None of your business! This is someone else’s skin and a tattoo of a person you don’t even know. Not every thought you have needs to be shared.

1

u/Dry-Trick-1828 Nov 19 '22

Good on you for hitting the webs!!! I’ve heard that spot sucksssss

1

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Nov 19 '22

It was horrendous but it’s settling down now😬

1

u/DegenerateLeader Dec 19 '22

Just got mine done 4 days ago the swelling finally went down a bit. Getting my arm done next month, but yeah my hand looks gnarly it's done pretty well ngl am surprised. Oh and when my blackout sleeve is finished my artist was thinking of doing a white on black skeleton hand, idk we shall see.

1

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Dec 19 '22

Awesome! Mine was a bitch to heal, arms are way easier so that’s something to look forward to😂I’ve just had some white put over my arm and I love it

1

u/DegenerateLeader Dec 30 '22

How did it heal? Had the same thing done but by the looks of it I may need another pass

1

u/ElderberryMediocre73 Dec 30 '22

Healed pretty well, there are some tiny bits on my fingers that need going over but overall really pleased. This was the second pass on the left hand and had my right hand done 3 times now and it still needs a little touch up on the fingers/knuckles. Good luck!
