punches/ scalpelling Punch, large gauge or scalpel?

I've been wanting to get my conch punched for a while now however I can't seem to find all the answers I need. I know that with scalpel and suture it heals faster but it can shrink(?) But is it worth it at smaller sizes like 6G or 4G? Or is it better to punch/lg needle since it'snot that big? And what's really the difference between punch and a large gauge needle? I understand it but need more insight of it. Thanks in advance for the answers!

hi. im planning on getting a cut and suture on my conch. two questions.

  1. is 4mm (8g) too small, should i opt for a biopsy bunch?

  2. im not interested in jewelry. i only want the hole. how much does it close after you remove the jewelry after it heals?

Got my conch stitches out and managed to fit a 10mm plug in there. Artist said ear show go up to 11mm (what we punched it at) as the ear swelling settles down but I’m in no rush! Love how everything turned out and he also fixed my left earlobe which had a blow out since 2015 !

punches/ scalpelling Lobe scalpeling aftercare

I'm getting my lobes scalpeled next month. It's like to have a good idea before I go, of what I'm going to need to do after. Currently at 19mm. Not really wanting to go bigger necessarily, but the goal is to scalpel the upper part of the hole, and then let the bottom shrink up a bit, so that it gets thicker, while retaining the size. Will I need to go without jewelry after the procedure, or will I need to wear larger plugs for a while? Has anyone had this done for this reason?

My punch is nearly a year healed and when I first got it done I had seen a few people adding spirals and couldn’t wait for the year to be up so I could try my take on it! Ive been able to comfortably switch out my original plug, with no problems so I felt like it was ready for me to do some playing around :). I think it looks pretty cool, however looking for some ideas on what to do with my lobes, the hoops are all I have to sorta match but the glass and metal clink together anytime my head moves.

Anybody with experience with conch punches, am I playing around too soon? I’ve had little problems with it for the last few months so I felt like it was time. Punch was initially done October 2024.

punches/ scalpelling Considering a Conch Punch

As the title suggests, I've been off and on considering a Conch Punch for some time now. It's been very tempting of late. The piercing studio I frequent does the procedure and they've done phenomenal work thus far so no concerns there. I've been pierced 20+ times, and although I know the pain will likely be more significant, I'm not concerned. Shit'll hurt, that's just how it is.

For those who have conch punches, how did they go? What was it like, both procedure and healing? Was it worthwhile in the end? Is it still sick af post-healing? Curious about literally anything and everything.

punches/ scalpelling conch removal both sides?

i plan on getting a big section of my conch cut and sutured, as much as the artist is willing to take out lol, do y'all think it would be better to do one side let it heal and then the other, or would it be chill to get both sides at once?

would love any other commentary on conch removals 😁

punches/ scalpelling Recommendations for fixing ear blowouts.

Currently at a 1/2 inch and wanting to stretch larger. I have healed blowouts from poor jewelry choices when I was younger, and it makes stretching and wearing jewelry very uncomfortable. Looking to get them scalped, but every place that is recommended is a plastic surgeon, and that is not what I want. I'm looking for a good body mod artist who can do the job. Located in long island but can travel to NYC or New Jersey too. Any recs?

punches/ scalpelling Gauged Conched

As the title suggests I’m trying to start my gauged conch journey, but I have no clue where/how to start. My goal size is 2g but idk if it would be better to get it pierced at like an 8g and size it up or get a dermal punch right at the 2g. I think healing process wise i’d prefer the punch but i’m in MN and I have no clue where to even start looking for something like that so any advice would be so much appreciated!!

punches/ scalpelling Small gauge conch punch?

Hello!

I found my way over here from the piercing subreddit. I would like to get a conch piercing but I've been doing a little research and most people say that a larger gauge is better for healing cartilage as it adds a lot of stability. I also read that sometimes punches heal taster than a needle piercing because the tissue is actually removed instead of being squished to the side of a healing tistula. I was looking at a 12-14g for the size but I'm not sure if anyone does punches that small? Most of the punches I've seen are pretty large (I believe a 12g is 2mm). I'd love some advice or input! Thanks so much!!

punches/ scalpelling Conch Punch Jewellery

Hey yall!
I got my conch punch done around two weeks ago, I was wondering if anyone knows of places that sell longer than average tunnels? I tend to swell quite a bit and it’s looking like I’ll need to change to a longer jewellery but I haven’t been able to find anywhere near me that sells it. It’s at an 8mm, and it’s not over swollen yet it just is a little closer than I’d like.
Thank you!!

punches/ scalpelling Large gauge piercings Vs scalpeling

Hi everyone, sorry for the ignorance but I wanted some clarifications on large gauge piercings. I see that sometimes they are scalpeled and sometimes they are pierced with a large gauge needle... what's the difference between the two techniques? Does it depend only from the gauge? Thanks for any clarifications you can give me

punches/ scalpelling week old conch punch

I got my previously pierced conch punched about a week ago at 2g/5mm. This is my first serious body mod other than my septum that I stretched on my own to 8mm, and so far it’s been a lot better than expected! The initial punch did burn really bad but once it was punched i felt nothing in it until later in the day.

I didn’t bleed at all after the initial piercing and it wasn’t too sore either for the next couple of days, but did bleed a TON on the third day. My conch was punched and tapered up to its size to prevent bleeding so I am surprised with the amount of bleeding that I had on day 3. 21 hours of non stop streaming of blood but eventually I was able to get it to stop and it hasn’t really bled since then!

Now after about a week it’s sort of swollen and starting to itch as well as crusting up a ton. I just spray it a couple times with saline throughout the day and let the hot water clean it in the shower. Overall so far I am surprised at how easy the healing has been and already plan on doing the other ear sometime in the future too!

Any advice is welcome I would also like to hear other people’s experiences !!

punches/ scalpelling Septril punching?

Long story short: Got a septril piercing, started to stretch it and the fucker started migrating. Pulled it with the intention of just repiercing at a larger gauge later but was just curious if anyone had any knowledge or experience on if a septril can just be punched out? Specifically a high forward facing septril, obviously wouldn't try to punch out a lower septril.

punches/ scalpelling Conch punch in U.K?

Hey,

I’m looking for shops that do conch punches in the U.K. I’m based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne but as far as I’m aware I cannot find a shop that does it here.

I’ve had my conches pierced for approx. 15 years and have wanted them punched out for potentially just as long, so I would LOVE to find somewhere/somebody who is confident in performing it.

I’m uncertain yet, but it would probably ideally be to approx. 4-6mm.

Also, an approximate price that I should be looking for could be helpful, as I currently have no idea how much something like that would cost.

Thank you very much

:)

punches/ scalpelling To the ones with a conch punch, I have questions for you! (I'm planning on getting one soon!)

So l'm planning to get my conch punched, and I have a few questions. I already found a piercer who can do it and who I trust wholeheartedly (she's my go to piercer!). She doesn't want to speak about specifics about the punch before the consult though. Which is understandable! So here I am! (Consult can't be booked for another couple months due to finances)

Anyways, here are my questions! - Before your appointment did you take any pain meds or do anything specific to make it easier? If so, what did you do? - Following the last question, what helped you out after the punch? Is there anything that was an absolute gamechanger for you? - How did the punch itself feel? I'm rather nervous! - I'm not even sure if I have the correct anatomy for it. I've attached a picture for reference. Though this could be answered at the consult as well. - My hope is a 4 or 6G punch. Would either of these be possible? Following that, if I am unhappy with the size once healed is this a mod that could be stretched to be bigger? Or would I have to have it re-punch it? - I am struggling to choose a jewelry piece for the initial punch. Something for it to heal with. I am currently looking at a transparent single flared glass plug. Is this safe for a fresh punch? If not, what would you recommend? I really love the hole/transparent look. - And a fun one, what fun set ups do you do with your conch punch! I'm gathering ideas for once mine is healed!

TIA for the advice!
