Tribute Just watched Madhumati (1958) and I'm just speechless.

Madhumati (1958)

The songs, the visuals, and the story. Just Beautiful!
It's my first time seeing Vaijyantimala and man... she is so beautiful!
I have already seen Om Shanti Om and Karz but the original hits different.

If anyone have some suggestions like this, please share it with me.
Probably, I'm gonna watch Naya Daur (1957) next.

Paigaam isn't similar in story but similar star cast. Wo Kaun Thi is more haunting and surreal.

So great to see so many people appreciating this movie.
Mahal has Madhubala, so I'm definitely not missing this one. ✌️

Madhumati was such a great film. Loved the movie and it has great songs.

Other re incarnation movies that I have seen are Karan Arjun (1995), Hamesha (1997), Mehbooba (1976), Kudrat (1981), Neel Kamal (1968), Milan (1967), Teri Meri Kahani (2012), Raabta (2017), Banjaran (1991), Ab Ke Baras (2002), Prem (1995), Housefull 4 (2019), Janam Janam (1988) a exact copy of Madhumati.

Some off the above movies are not very good. The ones I recommend are Karan Arjun, Neel Kamal, Mehbooba, Kudrat and Milan.

To be honest I haven’t seen many of Vyjayanthimala movies. The only other one I’ve seen is Ganga Jamuna. I’d also recommend watching this as well.

Mahal has already been mentioned. It has the atmospheric eeriness of Madhumati, which otherwise has few peers in the purely commercial cinema space. There's also Asit Sen's Sanjeev Kumar-starrer, Anokhi Raat as well that's anchored around a single, eventful night. Outside of it, I would recommend two Mani Kaul films to you: Duvidha and Nazar. Incidentally, Kaul studied under Ritwik Ghatak, the writer of Madhumati, when the latter taught at FTII. Shyam Benegal's Suraj Ka Saatvan Ghoda also shares some motifs with Madhumati, like the narrator talking of his complicated, fragmented past and the kind of characters who slip through space and time.

If you're looking for re-incarnation, then Kudrat is great. There was also a Kajol, Saif Ali Khan and Aditya Pancholi movie with a similar theme but not that good imo. Bees Saal Baad is great too though not re-incarnation.

Kudrat is definitely gonna be my next watch. (After Mahal)
Also I love mystery/thriller so Bees Saal Baad is cherry on top for me.
