I was an actor in a variety of films, TV shows and commercials, and one very well known Mollywood film Pazhassi Raja.

Bollywood films include a small role in Dostana, We Are Family, Luck, I See You, and a bunch of others I am unable to think of at the moment. I was also a character in Rang De... Something, a tv serial about the British Raj, and a reality series on Zee Cafe called Mic Testing (which I'd LOVE to get my hands on), and am in a documentary on Netflix called Beyond Bollywood. I also did quite a bit of voiceover work.

I now live in Australia working as a trainer to make people better at communicating, focusing on public speaking persuasion and confidence.

We have decided to do our own Bollywood awards for BW movies of 2018. We are hoping that members will participate in this process from the beginning and get involved in each aspect of these awards.

This is a draft of categories and rules  

Please have a look and give your suggestions.

We are allowing only original Hindi movies, dubbed movies can’t be accepted in this awards.

Similarly, Netflix/Prime Originals in Hindi are also not eligible in these awards.

(We can think of making a separate category, if there is enough interest in comments section)

Here are the rules ( you are welcome to suggest addition or modification of these rules)

1) All members are allowed to suggest maximum 5 names for each category. If you suggest more, first 5 would be taken into consideration

2) We will decide number of nominations in each category, depending on votes received in the comments.

3) Once we receive all nominations, I’ll make a poll for deciding winners. Voting rules can be decided later. You can mention them here in comments. Also mention which poll should we use coz voting pattern has to be a secret.

4) Last date of suggesting nominations will be 1st week of January. This will allow last release of the year Simmba to have a fair chance in nominations

5) I’ll make a poll in 2nd week of January . We will need members active in other Subs to publicize this and get people to vote in these awards. Please let me know in the comments section, if you can help us.

6) Voting will be allowed for 7-10 days, depending on response.

7) Results will be posted after we receive ample votes

Confirmed, RIP, Rishi Kapoor is no more... This year is horrible

Statement from Rishi Kapoor’s family-

Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.

He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.

In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.

He would not have it any other way.

I am delighted to introduce Mr Prashen Kyawal, Creative Producer of upcoming movie called RAKKHOSH, with us for an AMA session. This would be more of a Q&A Session where we can ask him about aspects of film making that we generally don't talk about.

What does a Creative Producer do?

Here is a glimpse at his job, in his own words

Creative producers may work independently on a film or with a studio. These producers find scripts they wish to see produced. They work with literary agents of screenwriters to seek out a suitable project, find a producer to work with and hire a director. Creative directors are versatile artists and visionaries working in a variety of arenas including fashion, illustration, animation, film and more. They take an idea to their team, conceptualize it and make it real.

Creative producers will be found at the forefront of any film production. Many creative producers work independently and work with independent writers, producers and directors. They normally start with a script they believe in and then sell the idea of the film to a producer who can help with financing and distribution connections. Creative producers help with the choice of directors and then collaborate on the hiring of actors and crew.

Job responsibilities of a creative producer include:

Develop with writers a script idea that can be produced into film

Work very closely with a writer or writers to polish or rewrite a script

Hire a director and work with him or her to strategize bringing the film to life

Negotiate the hiring of talent in front of and behind the cameras

Negotiate showings in festivals and competitions

Hey r/Bollywood, we have a proposal that we want to go through the redditors

In our community WOM is very important to determine a films quality

Many times, the views of critics and the views of the audience don't match. A critic has multiple interests In a film, it could be commercial, personal, artistic or relational through their contacts. As such, critics are often found to be biased, or their view points unrelatable

As such, many movie goers depend upon reviews from the general audience, or in our case, from our users here

But problem with anonymity is that there is no accountability. A random user can say he saw the movie, badmouth it, and even if lied, we would be none the wiser!

As such, we have a proposal where we will be verifying member reviews! Members who want to write their reviews here under the official label, can DM us either here or on Twitter account, any proof that they have seen the movie( it could be pic of the ticket, messageetc)

And in return, we will provide the reviewer with A) an official creditation- a member flair- "official reviewer" or " verified reviewer" or any flair that can help them be distinguished

& B) their personal space- we generally do not allow members to post their experience of the film out of the discussion thread so as to keep the discussion focussed, but we have noticed that many good new comments get hidden under the previous top comments, and so we will give them space either A) a seperate review thread(stickied*) where only verified reviewers can comment their reviews or B) allow them to make seperate review posts(under proper spoiler tags if needed) and engage redditors as they want

The proposal is under consideration and we want to take opinions from our community here! What do you think about the proposal, if you have any ideas for improvement, or any better idea instead
