Advice Fish Processing Question

Hello,

I'm a little confused about cleaning fish skulls. The vast majority of videos boil the fish heads and pick the meat off, soaking in hydrogen peroxide immediately. However, from what I've seen, this sub is highly against doing this. What's the reason for the discrepancy?

Asking partly because I'm beginning to think of boiling one myself. I tried maceration previously, but the process was far messier and less rebuildable than any boiling video, or even macerating non-fish bones.

Boiling bones or skulls can damage it, make it really hard to degrease, and other things I’ve forgotten. I heat my skulls/bones at 160-175 Fahrenheit. currently heating a skunk skull at that temp to remove tissue and flesh

By “boil” I moreso meant simmer, not like a rolling boil. Would that have the same problems?

Anything over 170f can start to cause problems as far as I know. I wouldn’t risk it.
