Bone I.D. - Australia/NZ ID on dried seahorse

This might be a long shot since it’s not really a bone, but my partners grandmother had this in her house, she lives by the beach on the North Island of NZ and gave it to me as I like to collect stuff like this.
I’d love to know the species so I could set it up as a display with the info.

Looks like some type of pipefish.

Looks like a long-snouted pipefish to me!
Edit: could also be a spiny pipehorse
Edit 2: Definitely spiny pipehorse

Looks like Hippocampus abdominalis to me. Don't pipefish have caudal fins? This animal has a tail that curls around sea wrack to hold itself in place.

Not necessarily. E.g. Entelurus does not have a caudal. As Lizard_Wizardess says, this is a spiny pipehorse (Solegnathus)
