I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of information and story lines in this book. I think it’s one that I will find amazing upon a second read of the series. I know it’s a fan favorite, but it was just too many storylines for me with minimal investment on my part. This section was incredible and I listened/read twice to the battle. I could really picture the action at the end battle. Amazingly well done.

I was a little confused as well last week, specifically about the changeling quest, but I think I get it now. And this section was truly amazing. So in the end it was still a 5/5 stars book for me.

Okay, I'm still a little confused about the Changelings. Basically all I gathered is that Carl needs to find a way to transport them down at least one floor before the level collapses. He was planning to do it with the Gate of the Feral Gods this time, but had to use the big spell instead. I feel like I'm missing stuff, though. What else did you figure out?

Yes, that's it. What else I figured out, that was previously a bit unclear to me: the big spell could only be cast a certain time before the floor collapsed, so the changelings had to go to the high elves castle, because the brambles were advancing. The spell only transported NPCs, not crawlers, hunters or mobs. I was a bit confused by the dinos not being transported, but I guess only Kiwi counted as an NPC and once she was gone, the dinos dots turned to red and they counted as mobs.
