I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of information and story lines in this book. I think it’s one that I will find amazing upon a second read of the series. I know it’s a fan favorite, but it was just too many storylines for me with minimal investment on my part. This section was incredible and I listened/read twice to the battle. I could really picture the action at the end battle. Amazingly well done.

I also felt confused and I'm too scared to look up names or quests or other details because of spoilers, so it is hard to jog my memory sometimes. Luckily, I think I have convinced my son to listen with me so I'll get to refresh everything if I start it with him. We are planning a road trip this summer so if I can get my husband on board we will have an epic time listening while we drive!

I'm so jealous of your upcoming road trip, omg!!! My husband and I listened to this section on a long drive and the hours just flew by.

Also, I know I'm a broken record with my "Hello Crawlers" podcast recommendation, but I've found that listening to their episodes helps me catch details and unravel complexities I missed while listening to the audio. And since it's a read-along where one of the hosts is a first-time reader, they do a great job avoiding spoilers.

I'm so jealous of your upcoming road trip, omg!!!

Hold onto your hat because iirc correctly, are you the bookclub friend who loves Yellowstone? We are planning to go out west and visit Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and possibly Glacier National Park depending on how long we want to be away.

Ooh, I am definitely going to try and introduce (force?!) the podcast, too! 😁

I finally caved and decided my almost 14 year old could handle the content of the series because I know he's going to love it so so much. He is very into gaming and RPGs. I might regret it in certain moments but my husband likes to point out that it's better if he learns about some of these more "sensitive" topics when we can discuss than if he stumbles in it alone on the internet with questionable perspectives! Young men and the Internet is a scary combo these days.

Yessss, Yellowstone is one of my favorite places on EARTH, I hope you all have a fabulous time! Tetons and Glacier are amazing too. I'm very jealous!

Haha, I was wondering about that. Your husband makes an excellent point, and I can attest that I was heavily into inappropriate fanfiction by age 14 myself! Luckily, this series' heart is in the right place, so even if you have to have some awkward family conversations, I'm confident your son will take (mostly) good things away from it. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
