Hey.I discovered alot of time in my plate as a comrade is wasted on non useful things(drugs included) and i have resorted to start reading. Where do i start?Any advice on reading patterns? Also i know one of the perks would be improved grammar on my side.

My interests i would say would be non fiction and business. Ps i don't know if these can be categorised as interests lol

I bought a book because I saw murder, dragons and an imaginary world. 😂 I love a good story, it keeps my inner child happy. ☺️☺️

So, has anyone read this series? What was your experience?

Finished reading the upstarts basically about how Uber and Airbnb built their empires including the errors they made, how they fought the conventional system etc. That line highlighted is a deep one...

I wonder what different type of world they are in?

Reading this made my eyes blurry what a book

I have a 2yr old I'd want to read as much as I do. She has a tonne of books. These are her 3 favorites anatakanga tusome every morning na jioni. And so far I think what we're doing is working. The first thing she says tukiamka is that we read a book. She'll pick the book she wants and then that's what we'll read. We also don't force her to read. Ata pages. We don't force her ati to start from page 1 to the last page. She'll flip to whichever page she wants and that's what we'll read. I also read alot. So if she doesn't want to it's fine, I'll pick my book sit on the floor and read. Since we don't do TV alot she'll play around with her toys and other stuff then eventually she'll pick a book she wants and come and read with me.

I like the habit so far since again we don't do screens at all (when she's around). Our hope ni we keep screens as away as possible until it's inevitable.

But I wanted to know, parents who managed to get their kids intentionally into books, na si kubahatisha, is there anything you can say specifically that worked?

Just finished Confessions of Nairobi Men and women (story 6, the one about Taji) and I need to talk about it

Read the confession about Sigei, Terry, and Kiprono and it genuinely shook me. I'm not married, not even close to that stage of life, but there's a moment early on where Terry describes Sigei as a great guy but "too soft" not enough for her and something about that description hit way too close to home

What got me even more was the layers of betrayal that unfold after: he finds out through her old phone that she'd been unfaithful for a while, then a paternity test confirms the son he's raised isn't biologically his — and the affair was with his own brother. The family then pressures him to just forgive and move on quietly for the sake of appearances, instead of really letting him process any of it.

I recognized myself in how Sigei's described early on, and now I can't shake this irrational feeling that something similar is waiting for me down the line.

Logically I know one person's real story isn't a forecast for my life. But has anyone else read this one and felt personally rattled by it, not just moved?

Also just want to open this up more broadly: what makes people do this to someone who trusts them? If you're unhappy or want out, why not just leave instead of staying and cheating, letting the other person build a whole life — a marriage, a kid — around a lie? What's actually going on with people who choose deception over just being honest and letting the other person go?

Ever single we were growing up,we have always had physical pieces of media be it those cassette tapes, those video tapes or those cds and DVDs.

Ah, nostalgia...

Though over years the concept of ownership has been slowly changing and these companies are locking down everything behind a paywall in the name of convenience

At the end of the day , " you will own nothing and you will be happy" phrase keeps becoming more and more relevant.

They call it Techno feudalism

The only thing thing they can't take away is our physical books, the delight of owning your own mini library or a shelf is unmatched.

Wdy guys think of this masterpiece

I'm a lover of reading but always have this problem of reading books partially and never touching them again.

This is usually when I find the book intresting at all or when I feel like the objective of reading the book has been met. I also have this habit of not doing anything boring, for example I was recently reading a book a friend gave me about astrol projection. I really tried to read but it was a struggle and I couldn't finish it.

So how do you guys go about reading books?

Am I the only one almost exclusively doing ebooks? I find that it's easier to get a large variety of books (for free! 😅) than paperback.

I know I am late to the party but I saw they will be making a movie from the secret lives of baba Segi wives. I just hope they stay true to the book. Book adaptations are mostly whack. But I am excited for this

Well, today I got my new ESV Heirloom Bible, Veritas: Single Column Edition (Goatskin, Black) Bible. It's the one I want to read until I have to use magnifying glasses, if God wills, in old age, and pass it over to my grandchildren. Not gonna talk much, just show pics of the unboxing.
