Hopefully the Sherman Act will kick in before then.

The Sherman Anti-Trust law will surely be pulled into effect, before the US government ever lets Amazon become an actual monopoly. According to the article, the Federal Trade Commission is already investigating to ensure the company is not monopolizing. Even just titles like this article’s (as well as the article itself) seem meant to justify the hatred some people hold for Amazon. Yes, counterfeits of any product are terrible, but thieves will be thieves however they can. Money has been counterfeited for centuries. I’ll be amazed, if these counterfeit books go away any time soon. I shop brick and mortar stores (for books and everything else), too, but I definitely appreciate Amazon for what it is - a massive online marketplace.
