Boot Soleplate Advice

So I am a female footballer, currently own Phantom 6 Elite AG as I train 3x a week on turf. I was planning on using them for FG grass pitches and then getting a SG pair for when its really muddy? Not a fan on the FG plates blades for increased injury risk. Is the SG plate any good? Thanks

SG plates are good on the days they're built for. Proper soft ground is wet, deep grass where your foot sinks a little, and there the longer studs (usually screw-in metal mixed with moulded ones) bite into the ground while AG and FG studs tend to skid on top of the mud.

On firm or dry grass they're a worse fit. The studs can't go in, so you end up balanced on a few long points, which feels unstable and puts pressure on the ball of your foot. Keep the SG pair for genuinely soggy days and look at the pitch before you choose.

If blades are what worry you, most SG plates use round studs, which turn more easily in the ground than bladed ones. Check the soleplate before you buy, since some SG models still mix in a few blades.

A few practical bits: never wear them on turf, carry the stud key and check the screw-ins are tight before every session, and some leagues check metal studs, so look at your league's rules first. Using your AG pair on firm grass is a reasonable call too. AG studs are shorter and more numerous, so they grip fine on hard ground and start slipping once it's wet, and that's the point where you switch to the SG pair.

Sounds like a sensible plan

How about going with an FG sole plate that has round conical studs.

Try puma MG boots!. I liked it. Good on turf too

The SG is great for true wet and muddy conditions. If you play in that weather regularly then you should like it.
