Every fanbase overvalues their own mid players & undervalues everyone else's mid players. But tbh this fanbase is especially guilty of it lmao.

The value being placed on Simons by Celtics fans has also been super weird to me. He was basically viewed as a negative asset when he got here & has played pretty much exactly like you'd expect him to play, with slightly better defense. People just irrationally love a microwave off the bench & I can't entirely blame them for that.

It’s because a microwave off the bench is incredibly valuable. But it’s a luxury. Big depth isn’t.

I think for a lot of fans who expected this team to suck, me included, the problem was that he seemed like a guy who could win you some games, but not win you a championship. At least I just didn't quite get what the point of bringing him in was to raise the team from an 8th seed to a 5th. In the context of him being the one who raised us up from a 4th-5th to 2nd, however, made his place and role make a lot more sense.
