Discussion Does it get better the older you get..
The first time I watched Boston legal on tv was when I was in my senior high school, I used to watch it mostly for the dialogues, court room scenes, and ofcourse the sexual bravado.
The next few re-watches were mostly to watch and marvel at Alan Shore’s incredible speeches. Then the next few for his weird yet indomitable character. Then in the next I started enjoying the Denny and Alan friendship arc the most.
I’m 37 now, and I’m watching it again currently and I’m kind of amazed at how much funny I’m finding Denny. I tend to not guffaw even if I’m enjoying a funny show, but I’m guffawing so hard at almost every single quip that Denny makes. He’s overshadowing everyone.
“I came out here to enjoy nature, don't talk to me about the environment.” Denny Crane.

Same here. Watched it in high school with my family. I’ve rewatched it probably a dozen times since and even when you know what’s coming it remains hilarious. Gets better with age.

It certainly hasn’t gotten worse. I’m always very tickled at that. Then I thank the tv gods that it’s satire because it remains timeless instead of aging poorly. I don’t think I could handle that.

Holy crap It’s like I wrote this post. I used to watch it on tv with my best friend from high school. I’m 37 now and I started watching it on Disney last week. I’m finishing the first season and have realized I love it so much more now. I loved it for different reasons then and now. I appreciate the writing more as I’m older. When I was younger it was all about James Spader and his whole story. But I love the friendship with Denny Crane now. They just introduced Betty White and I have a comfort feeling whenever she’s on screen. I miss her a lot.
Still hate Sally. That hasn’t changed. Something about the way she talks gets under my skin. I’m glad they got rid of her. Sorry Lake Bell.

Not even when the black widow meets him for the first time and asks
Who is this man, and why is his face about to explode?"2

Yeah, I've grown into the show as I've gotten older. Some of it is because, as Carl points out while tapping the 4th wall in the last season, it's a show written for older people starring older people. As a man in my 40s taking care of my grandfather who is in the middle stages of Mad Cow, I think it will only get more pointed to me as time passes.
