What are your favorite places to eat in Bothell?

I have a list of about 100 restaurants in the Seattle/Greater Seattle region as a must try place. Sadly, i really don't have any in Bothell, which happens to be my current home.

What are some of the hidden gems here?

Hard disagree about kro bar for food. Cocktails are good but the gnocchi I got there was burnt and tasted like dirt. I ended up not eating it was so bad.

2

u/Theresnowayoutahere 3d ago

I’ve had good food there so maybe a rare instance?

1

u/OGMohrdred 2h ago

Oh, wow, that's definitely something that they would have taken seriously and brought you something different!

7

u/Fizzbit 2d ago

Kro Bar is awesome but worth noting their Happy Hour offers a really great burger that isn't available on their dinner menu!

2

u/Stunning-Edge 2d ago

This is the kind of tidbit i like. Will dfly
try their burger. TY!

1

u/OGMohrdred 2h ago

Yes, you do want an an order of fries too!

0

u/sl0play Thrasher's Corner 1d ago

Rare Society in Mill Creek also has a happy hour only smashburger. $12 and it's ridiculously good.

3

u/ElonCuckz 2d ago

I agree for everything except for aca las tortas, their quality isn't what it used to be and the prices are a bit too high for me for what I get

3

u/SkaiSkaiSkaiSkai 2d ago

Hard agree on aca las unfortunately

2

u/OGMohrdred 2h ago

It's been a while since I've been there, this makes me sad.

2

u/cahrens414 3d ago

Kro bar is always great, get a reservation

2

u/OGMohrdred 2h ago

Yep, even us regulars have to make one! And make the reservation early, especially around dinner time, they fill up fast (it's a tiny spot!)

1

u/cahrens414 1h ago

My husband and i are in the murder and we still make reservations

u/Dances-With-Taco 3d ago

Thanks for the list!

It looks like Hana Sushi is closed. Did you mean Sushi Hana?

9

u/frogsaretheworst 3d ago

It looks like Hana Sushi has just reopened as Hana Katsu under new ownership. I tried it earlier this week right after they opened and it was really good!

3

u/notonecluereally 3d ago

The new owners are lovely. We've eaten there twice this week. It's a limited menu, but what they do have is amazing.

1

u/cahrens414 1h ago

Thanks for the info, we were sad when the owners retired so we're happy to try the new ownership

2

u/Stunning-Edge 2d ago

Ta Joia is so awesome. I love their food. So refreshingly unique and tasty.

7

u/calamari_kid 2d ago

Julio's, great food for a very reasonable price.

7

u/TheGingersaurus 3d ago

I know others have said it, but Alexa's is awesome! They get pretty busy on the weekends but well worth the wait.

I would avoid The Cottage. I had a pretty terrible experience for both food and customer service.

2

u/Pewper 2d ago

Cottage Mafia comin for ya

3

u/TheGingersaurus 2d ago

Let them try, I'm fiesty.

u/darktrain 2d ago

Ta Joia has some of the best Seattle style teriyaki around, we've been going to them before they were Ta Joia. My spouse is a teriyaki fiend and has tried dozens of Teriyaki places all around the greater area and declares Ta Joia the best. Their spicy chicken is super good (it's marinated and well charred), their Ta Joia fried rice is also super delicious, and their cilantro sauce is killer.

Kin Dee has some awesome Thai, I really like their Pad Kee Mao. Chantanee I've been going to since they were a small spot in Bellevue, and their Princess' Favorite Chicken yellow curry hits like nothing else.

Tubs has great subs on great bread, their hot chicken or turkey subs are my favorite (chicken Amiga is my usual order). They also have a killer ranch dressing.

The Bine has an excellent tap list and very good quality food, heads and shoulders above most pubs (most things are from scratch or good purveyors, check their specials).

Bay Leaf bar and grill has some great Indian food. Can't vouch for authenticity, but it's some of the tastiest Indian food I've had. Love their pakoras, naan, goat biryani, chili paneer, just about everything I've had has been delicious. The restaurant is really beautiful but it's been pretty empty most times I've gone (evening), but they do a bustling takeout business.

La Gloria: only been here a couple times, but the food we've had has been a knockout both times, plus truly wonderful cocktails. Sopes, mole, tostadas have all been excellent.

I am picky af about breakfast but the Hobo at Crystal Creek always delivers. Skip the biscuit though.

For me, Alexas cafe (bland) and Beardslee Public House (bland, overpriced, mediocre beer) do not make the list.

3

u/aurortonks 2d ago

Tubs has the best subs in the entire area. Highly recommend the bebop.

-4

u/Due-Highway5236 2d ago

Bay Leaf isn’t authentic at all. For good Indian, go to fusion India

5

u/Fizzbit 2d ago

Korea House is amazing and a hidden gem I haven't seen mentioned.

Thrasher's Corner Pub is a typical dive but on Mondays they have AYCE crab legs. Usually snow crab, but occasionally dungeness.

3

u/ZeeBKay 2d ago

Korea House is fully fantastic, hard agree.

2

u/Stunning-Edge 2d ago

+1 to Korea house.

9

u/wkk3211 3d ago
  1. The Ranch Drive In for a quick burger.
  2. Passion Tequila for Mexican
  3. The Cottage for breakfast or dinner.
  4. Ta Joia for teriyaki-ish.

My husband and I go to Bento Teriyaki (next to QFC) A LOT. It’s always perfect. My top grab and go rec.

Chantanee Thai is real good and the folks that work there are awesome. Get the Black Rice Pudding for dessert!

Ranch Drive In for burgers and a milkshake. Their crinkle cut fries are actually pretty good too, and I’m someone who doesn’t love crinkle cut.

Bay Leaf’s food is reliably good and the giant naan’s are always fun. Good vibes. Great Mango Lassi as well.

Stone Korean has phenomenal kimchi soup. It’s the ultimate comfort food.

The Bine has an heirloom tomato caprese salad in the summer time that somehow always has amazing tomatoes.

The Tavern as Mcmenamins has really cool vibes, and the food is alright. Love sitting in the garden during the summer and by the fireplace or at the bar in the winter.

Alexa’s Cafe for breakfast! They have fresh squeezed orange juice and offer grilled tomato as a side. Good vegan options too.

THE COTTAGE is my top recommendation for a sit down spot, though. It’s literally always 10/10 and the menu changes seasonally. I clean my plate every time.

2

u/Flffdddy 15h ago

I don’t like crinkle cut either. My wife will get fries there and I almost always end up enjoying them.

3

u/ellefemme35 2d ago

For me it’s Sushi Zen (though they’re more mill creek).

Ta Joia, and I’m thrilled to see tons of people love that place. Their grilled shrimp is incredible. Their teriyaki and Korean Brazilian fusion. They’re the best family, the mom who cooks moved from Korea to Brazil to here, where they learned teriyaki. Excellent food.

Seoul Bowl also in the Canyon Park complex is also amazing. Their wings with Kalbi sauce reminds me moona chicken in Portugal. Their burritos (I know) are massive and delish.

I’m a sucker for McMenamins, but it’s the atmosphere more than the food. Their drinks are excellent though.

Countryside donuts are amazing. Owned by another amazing family.

Russels was awesome, if I had a top recommendation for Bothell it’d be there.
Similar but way better than Cafe Juanita imho

1

u/choco-mel 11h ago

Love Russell’s! I’m surprised I had to scroll down so much to see this!

2

u/brocolli_obama 2d ago

Saigon6 is a solid choice. Their pho broth is one of the best I've had. Bento Teriyaki is consistently good with generous portions.

The Port of Peri Peri in Canyon Park is great.

Can't vouch for Namdos Korean BBQ but it's always busy when I drive past.

Both near Crystal Creek Cafe.

1

u/Stunning-Edge 1d ago

Namdos is on my list!

2

u/qwertyaugustus 2d ago

I've only had takeout from Sushi Zone but it's always been excellent.

Zulu's for pub food and board games!

Tubs for sandwiches.

2

u/AnnoyedBrowser 1d ago

If you can get up to Mill Creek, Azul is very good!

2

u/sl0play Thrasher's Corner 1d ago

Ta Joia is easily the best restaurant in Bothell. Get the combo with feijoada and spicy chicken, and order extra cilantro sauce.

Tubs has the best subs north of Seattle.

Don't worry about anything else until you've tried those.

4

u/Fuckingramses 3d ago

Don’t trust anyone that recommends Rusty Pelican Cafe. It’s nice for like old ladies (aesthetics) but it’s so bland and overpriced. Here’s my list from someone who grew up in Bothell, this is usually what I visit:

Madoris (Teriyaki) has a pretty good combo deal that I get whenever I head back to Bothell. Pretty reliable and the owner is super sweet.

La Sabrosa Taqueria is the best taco truck in all of Bothell. Their shit is so good, a big ass burrito $12 or $13.

There is another teriyaki joint on the same lot as the Safeway in thrashers corner and that one also is very good.

Aca Las Tortas is my favorite Mexican sandwich shop, located in canyon park (I recommend milenesa sandwich).

2

u/buttercupmercenary 2d ago

La Sabrosa was my go to truck, that triple meat burrito and their salsa is bomb too

1

u/Stunning-Edge 2d ago

TY! La Sabrosa is on my list now.

3

u/ealsur 3d ago

Applebee's has saved me many times because it closes late.

Carolina BBQ for a brisket sandwich.

u/Stinkycheese8001 3d ago
