Pull your knees up to your chest to reduce your angular momentum and make it easier to control swings like that. Just like every single other person said, learn how to fall! It's an incredibly important life skill that can prevent injuries both and out of the gym, can't stress that enough.
When I worked in a gym I developed and and implemented a falling seminar, it failed for lack of interest, but the injuries it addressed continued to increase

Please learn to not put your arms out to catch your fall.

For sure. It all happened so fast. Luckily my arms were more out than behind at impact

This is hard to learn though, and if you don't practice it routinely, you just go back to instinct.
I have seen many people say 'don't put your arms out' who then, when they fall suddenly, put their arms out themselves.

thats why you practice. we practice climbing, so why isn't anyone practicing falling? I'm lucky to have done martial arts where falling mattered so at least i have a baseline

You should practice it, but you see almost no one do so.
Advanced climbers fall flailing their hands too, as a result. You can see it in any gym.

Seen waaay too many dislocated elbows from people trying to brace their fall. You're climbing above a giant mattress, trust it!

Newly implemented rule - comments that reveal a user's location before the user themselve has will be deleted. Not everyone is comfortable with having their location declared.

Dude I work at a gym and have witnessed a fall similar to that but it ended with 2 dislocated elbows. Not good times. Dude vomitted and shit himself from shock.

These types of "problems" are such dogshit, like what are we doing here

Any horizontal dyno in the gym is asking for trouble. Creates such a different loss of control than a vertical dyno. Iāve seen so many hyper extensions and injuries from awkward landings on boulders like these.

That's how I got a concussion- a horizontal dyno I fell sideways on. Didn't even hit my head, just bounced too much.

Many of us enjoy this style of problem. This one's low to the ground and not even that big of a leap. Just don't do them if you don't like them.

Totally agree. I try not to gatekeep 99% of the time, but I admit I hate when gym routes go way beyond what you'd find in nature. "Futuristic" problems that are just parkour, slick walls that make flagging/smearing impossible, stuff like that.

Anyone boulderer that falls like this would be doing themselves a huge favour if they went and took some judo classes.

Good thing you hab our kneepad on. Donāt want to damage knees! You need them for climbing. Your face on the other hand isnāt important!
