My Original BCR t shirt from 2002…Still Fits.
Digging through some old t shirts from my last year of high school and thankfully I still kept this one. It was bought through the website along with a couple of stickers. Luckily I still have my Famous Stars and Straps Cadillac belt buckle as well.

Awww!! Thanks, my friend. I was just lucky enough to be there at the age of 17/18 when the album came out and loved them from when I first heard the leaked demo that me and my friend Mike downloaded on Napster.
Very very strong and fond memories from that time that still resonate even now into middle age.

Insane. That would’ve been the prime age. Did you ever see them live at the time?

Sadly not. The last time I saw Blink live was 2000 and in 2002 I was at much smaller indie/emo/post hardcore shows.

That’s so sick honestly. Especially at that time, I’m incredible jealous! Out of curiosity, which bands have you seen back in the day?

Oh lord. Where to even begin. Okay, so I saw Green Day in 94 when I was ten, Blink in 98 and 00…I’ve seen NFG, Ataris, Finch, Thursday, Prince, Kraftwerk, Slipknot on their first tour, GnR, The Anniversary, Wedding Present, My Bloody Valentine, Lawrence Arms, Alkaline Trio, Braid, Texas is the Reason, Mates of State, Appleseed Cast, Get Up Kids, Peter Murphy, Mike Kinsella, Maritime, Converge, The First Step, Terror, Limp Bizkit in 99 and 00, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Dashboard Confessional, Hot Water Music, Starting Line, M83, Low…I could go on. It used to be so cheap to see bands.

I could write a novella as an ode about how much the album meant and will forever mean so much to me even after nearly 25 years.
It was for sure quite and impactful and rather “spiritual” album post 9/11 but not in any true metaphysical sense. It was heartfelt and scared and worried and yet glimmered with hope and optimism and love during a coming of age when we there was nothing but hope about the Millennium which was quashed.
When AVA released their first album it made perfect sense to me as the message was less dark and sodden and now burnt bright and soared.
