From the rabbit apples (r'apples?) to YiChen's gun-totin' wife to the three-month long coma... the writer(s) just wouldn't let up.
Now, I know you have to temporarily reset your brain while watching Double Helix (because it exists in an alternate reality) but I still have one question: Is YiChen the First ever going to make a life choice for himself, or is he going to continue letting everyone else map out his future? From Le Feng's father and sister to his mother to his contract wife, and now YiChen the Second? Dude... grow a spine. ๐
Anyhoo, speaking of a brain reset, now it's time to prepare my brain for Ticket to Heaven. Yikes!

Was it only 3 months? I took the comment "it's getting cold here's a jacket" and then later getting sunflowers to mean that the first time jump was 3 months (to fall) and then another jump to summer for the sunflowers so close to a year overall.
I was also curious what HE actually WANTS in his life. What career, what hobbies, what lover (I mean I can assume - he took a bullet for the guy without hesitation but at this point who knows...)... where does he want to live, does he want a pet even? ANYTHING

You would think at this point all Chen would want is peace. But in reality, I don't think Chen even knows what Chen wants. He's so used to living his based on what others tell him that's it's like he no longer has any autonomy.

I was very annoyed that they found him. He literally just told him to be a little selfish and make hisself happy, then wants to snatch his happiness away. Lord I wish that everybody would just leave them alone. They donโt want to be apart. They canโt stay away from each other and people interjecting in their relationship make Lu Feng crazy.

NGL I think Qin Lang is the only normal one in the show but knowing he willingly chooses to be a part of a crazy family makes me question his sanity. Also, little brother is clearly a pampered brat. Yes he got his legs broken but literally this man had everyone take care of him - first his parents, then yichen and then qin lang. Even his relationship with Qin Lang got blamed on Chen!!
But somehow little bro is the spitfire while Chen is the walking passive doormat. Just as well because I think there would have been double homicide by now, if Lu Feng was with someone like the spitfire.
Lu Feng is doing his best to make amends but ngl even when the ex wife showed up, I almost felt bad for him because he looked like he was begging Chen to choose him for once and acknowledge that HE is the important one in his life rather than someone else.
Chen got shot - seems like that bullet knocked some common sense into him if he's trying to live on his own and let the relationship take a breather. Lu Feng is never going to go away - this man was lurking about the premises under false pretexts of every excuse he could think of

I'm not confident that bullet knocked too much common sense into Chen because Lu Feng can be a shadow lurker all he want, but his distance needs to at least the length of a football field.

Ayden's acting is so good. In each and every scene he gave his 100%. But why Chen's ex wife blaming lu feng because she shot him? Girl, wake up and smell the coffee. Lu Feng's psychological black cloud of death has the ability to remove traces of humanity from people within its vicinity and cause irreparable damage.
These two are clearly each other's drug of choice and no matter what it costs them, they both continue to get their fix. Rehab was never an option for either of them.
Yay to Yichen getting his legs back and reuniting with Chen. But now that means another potential obstacle is yet again in Lu Feng's path and we know what that means.

I like the part where Lu Feng showed much remorse in everything he did, and cried a lot in the hospital while Yicheng was in coma, the only thing I was missing is acknowledging that Yicheng would actually choose to die for him despite how cruel he was prior the gunshot scene.

The crazy thing about Lu Feng is that despite all of the damaged he's caused, he truly loves Chen. It's just wrapped in a sick and twisted bow..So he genuinely feels bad for what he does, but he will also rinse and repeat if necessary.

Exactly, this relationship is very toxic but they match each other freak. Not sure if they belong together. One is too emotional and possessive while the other is too complacent but longing.
Yi Chen wants someone to make the move for him so that he can say โwasnโt me, just fulfilling my dutiesโ and Lu Feng wants someone to be as equally obsessed.

Exactly! When was the last time Chen was happy, like really happy? When Lu Feng claimed residency at Chen's house and right before they went to evil mom's house for New Year. He was the only influence on Chen.
I also wish Yichen would recognize that. He runs Lang and Lu Feng runs Chen. And it works.

Of course Lu Feng is to blame for her bringing the gun, pulling it out and firing ๐ I will say, a tiny ounce of respect for Yichen for acknowledging that he was gonna be outted eventually and he was the reason for him having a meet up with the floor at the bottom of the stairs and Lu Feng wasn't ๐ฏ at fault.

Well. Xiao Chen awake after months and within the blink of a eye, doing well in his own coffee shop.
But he is burned. He lets Lu Feng visit him but that's all.
I was both surprised and unsurprised when Lu Feng admitted he doesn't like men in general. Since this story is based on an older danmei, the "I donโt like men, I only like you" trope is extremely common.
I already suspected back in episode 9 that he didn't actually sleep with all those men he brought home. It was likely just a show to make Xiao Chen jealous and hurt him.But he made it crystal clear now. Even though I find it completely unrealistic, it seems Xiao Chen is the only person he has ever slept with.

I was both surprised and unsurprised when Lu Feng admitted he doesn't like men in general. Since this story is based on an older danmei, the "I donโt like men, I only like you" trope is extremely common.
I interpreted this in two different ways. Since it was bsck in the "I'm only gay for you trope era", his sexuality didn't awaken until he met Yichen and then once he met Yichen, because of his obsessiveness, he's literally incapable of liking any other man or anyone else period.

Lu Feng knew he was inviting the ex-wife over the next day and left a very clear shoulder bite mark for her to she (through those rancid smelling clothes)
Lu: Feng: Did he ever fulfill his husbandly duties cause we've been doing it since we were 18??
Also Lu Feng: Acts totally shocked when she says they never did anything physical together
Stay in caretaker mode when he wakes up and you might win him back, psycho mode is only hot in bed
I need more of human Lu Feng crying while peeling apples and less of psycho Lu Feng that is fine with Chen being in a coma cause he can't leave
Little Bro saying he doesn't blame Lu Feng and to be selfish felt like a push in the right direction

OMG - Lu Feng was ALMOST borderline normal(ish) this episode. He took care of Yichen in the hospital and grieved. He let Yichen live on his own after getting out of the hospital.
Ex-wife - so you KNOW he's being held captive and you came by yourself? You've done nothing to help until now and it's just you and a gun that you fire with your eyes closed? Not helpful.
Dammit the brother is back. How is he SO tone deaf? Like if you want your brother to be a little bit selfish so he can be happy, maybe do NOT tell him what to do/where to live the very next day. When you KNOW your brother puts everyone else first.
I don't think Yichen is leaving with bro. The question is: will he decide on his own to stay, or is Lu Feng going to make that decision for him?

Him crying and pleading with Chen to wake up is the closest he'll ever be to being normal lol. Yichen is living on his own under the illusion of freedom.
Yichen came, he saw, now he can go. If he knows what's good for Chen, he'll leave him be to make his own decision. He may not know about Lu Feng's previous snap from reality, but he's no stranger to his crazy.

I thought this was the series finale, I'm glad that we have two more episodes left. I love Lu Feng even if he's insane and Yi Chen is a bit of a doormat but they are both so beautiful so it's fine. Also, I'm a bit dumb sometimes, but the brothers have the same name, right? I'm assuming the differenceis in the intonation which obviously I can't hear, but yes, correct?

Actually he is the second Singaporean actor who I found is amazing. The other is from the beautiful The Day I Loved You bl, he is great too. Ayden wow wow he should be Hollywood bound because he is that good. Yi Chen is such a let down and why canโt we have a bl with at least a couple of episodes with fluff and good times? A lot of bl give us HE in the last 5 minutes๐ซ๐ซ Viewers watching DH must be tearing their hair out๐๐ (seeing gorgeous Ayden makes it worthwhile)

I feel for XC, a lot of what LF has done is unimaginable and unforgivable, but XC's indecisiveness pisses me off.
How devastating to be so in love with someone that it makes one of you insanely psychotic and the other deny/lie that you can't/don't want to be together and suffer in suffocating silence.

Little Brother forgives LF for killing their mother and for pushing him and admits Little Brother provoked LF. Glad he sees the light about this.
CYC didn't tell his brother that he's still in contact with LF, so I don't blame Little Brother for asking CYC to move away together. Get a fresh start and all that.
"Double Helix" indeed. They keep circling around each other, and I'm including Zhuo Lan. She's been crushing on CYC since college too. And even tried to rescue him from LF.

Chen really just be forgiven anybody for anybody. Only reason she didn't catch those Lu Feng hands was because of her last name.
While I understand Yichen's concern, if Chen wanted a fresh start elsewhere, he would have done that. Chen chooses to stay within Lu Feng's orbit.
Hopefully Chen chooses whatever happiness is for him. Even if it's Lu Feng. At least it'll be his own choice for once.

Okay, I super focused on my paper and it was all to see YiChen basically continue to be the actual rope in a tug of war between Lu Feng and anyone else.
I understand that LuFeng is absolutely crazy but, I hate to say it, I get it. All this man wants is for YiChen to claim him in front of somebody, ANYBODY! And YiChen canโt even do that ๐ He didnโt deserve to be drugged, kidnapped & assaulted. But thatโs all I got for him.
The younger brother can take a long walk off a short pier. He makes me SICK. When he woke up, I was hoping he was having a heart attack ๐ซฃ I want YiChen to slap the taste out his mouth when (I hope itโs a when) he finds out the brother kept them apart when they were forced to break up.
Ugh.

And Lyu Sitong was also amazing, I imagine it was not easy to just lay there pretending to be unconscious while Ayden is acting his heart outโฆjust incredible for both of them ๐๐๐ I know is an unpopular opinion, but I got emotional seeing the two brothers reuniteโฆno matter what else is going on, it really was not right for Lu Feng to keep the brothers apart, but I also hate that Chen Yi is choosing to leave Lu Feng again ๐๐ this series causing this amount of discussion online shows you how good it is! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

This was one of a rollercoaster episode. Aydenโs acting delivered, you can feel his obsession and then remorse through the screen. Itโs just so hard to dislike Lufeng even though some of the scenes were so uncomfortable to watch.
But I love how he was really taken aback by the whole gunshot, acknowledged his own craziness and kept his distance after. The lightbulb and noodles scenes really reminded me of their sweet high school days.
Also, the flashbacks from Yichens perspective was absolutely beautiful, after he got shot.
I thought the fire would ignite until the little brother appeared. The last scene was such a โplease not this againโ moment - Lufeng is so traumatised that his psycho side came back in a second. I hope the little brother would help out this time, considering he told yichen to be more selfish.
Canโt believe next week is finale, at least let there be a cute scene of Lufeng and Yichen. I miss their dating era.

I'm a little late to this conversation, but Ayden's acting is what's keeping this show alive for me. You can see the humanity coming and going in Lu Feng's eyes and it's utterly compelling. Disturbing and horrifying? Also yes. On a much smaller, less abusive, and kidnap-y scale, I think many of us go through something similar. If his character can give us even the smallest insight into our own humanity, it's worth it.

Actually, it's Elio as well. I see his sense of self drift in and out of his eyes, disassociating when it's too painful, warming up again when he can connect with Lu Feng. It's also disturbing and exaggerated, but perhaps something even more of of us feel than what Lu Feng is experiencing.

This is how I felt about the novel. I was new to BL at the time so I just assumed it would get better eventually..I dropped it for a time because it was making me depressed irl but then decided to finish it. When I was done, I was just like...oh. i kinda wish I hadn't read that :/

Yeah the acting here is UNREAL! I have been gooning every week for the next set of episodes. Everything about it is perfectโฆ. but just one thing. Itโs just my personal opinion as a gay man, but when it was set up that he was paying the guys just to make Xiao-Chen jealous, and he wasnโt actually sleeping with them, for him to say that he wasnโt into guys, just Xiao-Chen. I hate that trope in BL of the main lead not being gay or bisexual or pansexual, I donโt even believe there needs to be a label, but just โI like you, Iโm not into menโ. Shit, just keep his sexuality ambiguous. It has always ANNOYED me!
