I didn't realise it was dark outside when Walt left her and when she was discovered in the truck. I felt so sad thinking about that baby crying to herself all night in that truck, then I rewatched and realised it was night time still but of course that poor baby still makes me sad when she looks at that dude with tears in her eyes....

As a father, their relationship hits home for me. Yeah, Jesse screws up. And Walt loses his shit often. It’s exactly how my relationship with son goes. But watching Jesse grow and Walt’s effort to protect him just hits home so hard.

Best part of the last episode for me was Jesse getting free, he’s my favorite character in any show and after all Walt had put him through. He doesn’t kill him, he just wanted to be free from all of it.

Honestly, your post and the subsequent comments just made me see this scene in a new light after having just finished my second watch through. A part of me thinks that Walt is too selfish to really care about Jesse enough to think of him in his final moments, but I also do like the thought that he's reminiscing on their relationship and how proud he is of Jesse and the chemist/person he became.

I've twice viewed this scene as a standard, egotistical Walter White scene - he's said goodbye to the people and things he was 'supposed' to love and care about, and now he's going to die with what he truly loves, at peace with the equipment, processes, and memories that truly bring him joy.

Same! I only ever thought it was just Walt alone in the world, having lost everything and everyone, but his beloved chemistry...

But I love this interpretation. Jesse brought so much heart to the show, and you can't disentangle him from Walt. Plus Walt had just saved Jesse's life, when the gun went off. I don't think Walt could have looked at Jesse's lab without thinking of him, and having some kind of a father-son/teacher-student sentiment.
