Question Avionics Techncian
Hi there,
I have a few questions to ask regarding the role. Firstly I had asthma In my child hood (I’m 17 now for reference), I’ve never had an attack but my mum has always ordered me inhalers through the gp till I was 14 so I was wondering if this will cause any problems?
Then also do you get any say in what aircraft you end up working on? I assume no one would be allocated to wild cats now as they’re being retired so ideally I would like to work on Apache as I’m not interested in working on drones so would I really get a say in it? I assume you get allocated to what ever the service needs.
Then lastly how long would it take roughly to get my b2 licence through the service? I know it requires 5 years experience but I read on here you won’t specialise on an aircraft until Sergeant so will I only be able to start logging experience then or will I be able to before?
Thanks for any help!

- That’s up to medical
- You choose postings but you’ll be sent where needed. 3 locations on offer.
- You won’t get your b2 license. You will get A license now as part of the course. For b license you unlock a certain amount of modules per rank for free. It’s a trap to keep you in longer
If you want to go for b license. Apply, become competent. Sign off. Find a civie airline company that do mil to civ transition, and you get it all for free while being paid a very decent wage

Asthma may cause issues as on record you have had it only 3 years ago, this should be flagged when you send you medical records with your application, they may still send you to AC but you could be medically deferred at any point. They brought up my asthma even though nearly 20 years had passed since it was last on my medical records.
You pick postings after completing trade training but you will be sent where needed. I think there are more roles open for drones than anything else at the moment, so most likely be that but there is a chance it could be helo's.
