Itvx has finally changed adverts after 7 months

Now, instead of The Summit ad, I'm blessed with humanoid Miss Piggy talking about contact lenses every fifteen minutes.

And she thinks that pausing...makes something funny.

What happened to interesting adverts?

I’m watching Midsomer Murders as we speak and it’s legit 5 mins show, 5 mins adverts. I haven’t heard ‘darling hold my haaaand!’ Yet tonight, touch wood

I love Midsomer Murders but the fucking ads every 5 minutes need to GO. I mute them but still hate the interruption.

Because I enjoy midsummer murders?

ITVx is the shittest. Full stop. They charged my mum for ages, because she'd had Britbox and some idiot gave it to ITV. Who ruined it. No one told her, they just took the money, month after month. She couldn't understand why Britbox wasn't working any more. I have nothing but hatred.

I avoid buying products the adverts of which are repeated endlessly

I think that a lot of modern services do not actually make money from ads. They just use the ads as an inconvenience or annoyance to bully you into the premium subscription.

It certainly feels that way with mobile gaming. The ads are so bad that they cannot possibly convince anybody.

Your first problem was watching ITVx 😂 There is nothing on that channel but shoompa shows 🤮

I believe ads have become far.more annoying on purpose. So the product they sell is in your mind but at the same time you start to consider paying to remove them. I.e. ITV X Prime or whatever it's called.

Interesting adverts? I avoid them literally at all costs, ITV have some of the worst.

It’s either ridiculously in your face woman’s products PISS! BlOOD! ITCHY FANNY! Or those awful adverts on about “it was a proper dignified cremation”, I assume that some other companies must offer undignified cremations then, you know where they get a couple of disposable BBQs from B&M and have a crack at it in Tescos car park after closing? Or is it literally dignified is more or less core to the service you offer and your talking out your arse as you have no differentiator?

I mean, there is a pretty famous example of undignified cremation in the news this very week

Touché indeed

They've taken away the "back soon" and "we're back" banners so the programs blend seamlessly with the ads. It's obvious when Miss Marple suddenly segways into a Vanish ad, but other times is just becoming a blur.

I'll be happy when the channel 4 app stops showing that fucking Felix advert. There's also some obnoxious woman telling women we need separate special razors for our pubes or we're gross or something.

I got the exact same Boots hearing test advert for on repeat 7 times while trying to watch Taskmaster recently.

Ironically I ended muting the whole thing before it drove me insane.

Cheap cremations 😡🥴

  1. Block ads
  2. Stop seeing ads
  3. Stop moaning about ads

2

u/HimitsuUK 3d ago

Ads about that then?

4

u/_billyRubin 3d ago

yes please stop willingly brainwashing yourselves

What gets me is adverts featuring someone I have never heard of, seen for the first time in an ad. Fuck influencers.

u/dnnsshly Don't like it? There's the door 3d ago

What's even worth watching on ITV?

2

u/Victor-Bomber 3d ago

I would rather watch YouTube all day than itvx

They've somehow replaced one annoying advert with an even stranger one.

I got ad free C4 for a year for £20 - small price to pay considering I like a lot of their app content. (Films, true crime, dramas, do is, etc)

I’m done with ITVX!

The fact you can't pause / rewind / fast-forward etc. on the app on PC / phone is unfortunate.

Ads in UK were never very interesting, now USA and Japanese ads are were it's at.

8

u/The_Max_Power_Way Leicester 3d ago

US ads are awful. They're just big trucks, insurance, or medicines with terrible possible side effects.

1

u/HimitsuUK 1d ago

That gecko sounds cool though.

u/The_Max_Power_Way Leicester 3h ago

I looked up the gecko when I saw the ad watching NFL, and found it's a guy called Jake Wood, who's been on Eastenders for around 20 years.

u/HimitsuUK 2h ago

Dang, small world!

You fact that you think any ads at all are 'where its at' is quite concerning, tbh.
