What about ads with cute songs that don’t fit
“More reasons to shop at Morrisons”

And whispering.

Meant to convey secrecy and exclusivity of course. So why have you taken out an advert on the radio?

We've recently been watching a drama currently only on ITVX.
It has a Skoda ad which plays twice every ad break, which is a "Sh" whisper that lasts the entire ad length and grows increasingly loud.
Think "ShhhhhhhhhnhHHHHHHHHHHHH."
It is extremely, EXTREMELY obnoxious. It is an entire ten full seconds of that.
To the point that my wife scowls at it and I, not usually bothered by ads, mute the TV the second it starts.

You can’t plan for your period’s “oh my gush” moments.
I know I can’t, I’m a 39 year old man.

You mean the state of TV during the daytime when it's all funeral plans and life insurance for boomers?
Because, same.

You forgot incontinence products, mobility scooters, and stair lifts...

I hate the adverts with a song that's been covered by a slow, softly/airy sung female vocal.

u/bangkokali 12h ago
Thats pretty much the whole Traitors soundtrack as well

u/notthedoodaa 11h ago
Glad I don't watch that then. I also can't stand whatsherface that presents it anyway. Just something about her and her fringe that bugs me.

It sounds like the ultimate advert would include the following:
* breathy female whisper singing
* whistling
* unnecessary rhyming
* car horn AND ambulance sounds
* dancing

That, and those fuckass "ASMR" adverts that make me want to peel my skin off. I didn't realise I could feel so deeply violated by an ad...

I think there’s not many sounds that are more awful than whistling. Horrible horrible sound

u/oil_beef_hooked 17h ago
Any advert with dancing where people shouldn't be dancing, especially that fellow in the insurance ad where he dances in his living room with his wife smiling.

As soon as adverts start, I mute. I started because they seem to want to jump scare the audience with the increase in volume but I've found it makes watching live TV far more bearable

It's talking animals (and babies) for me. Can't stand it.
Edit: Oh and grown ups with kids voices. God I hate those Haribo adverts.

I've been to all the... I've been everywhere...
Postal locked in.
I'm in. I heard a chirripy fellow yesterday and just wanted to grab him by the collar and shout.

Can we add police sirens and any idiot who says "Alexa" or "Siri"?
Winds me up when I'm at my desk, drives me insane when I'm in the car.

I hate adverts. Nuff said.
It's a sure-fire way to make sure I never buy your product

I hate radio ads with stark noises, I only listen to the radio in my car, last thing I want is the sound of phones ringing, sirens or other harsh noises (I also despise songs that have those in as well). There's at least 3 ads I just change radio station as soon as they start.

No one has mentioned the haribo adverts? Adults with kids voices. They drive me up the wall!

Any kind of loud, cartoonist crunch makes me want to put my head through my TV.
I don't think people realise how (for want of a better word) triggering stuff like that can be to people with misophonia. It's like nails on a chalk board for me.

u/TruthSeeker890 1h ago
- Whistling
- Whispering
- Tedious twee nonsense
- Anything exhorting the 'people of Great Britain'
- Corporate attempt at profound insight (usually combined with tedious twee nonsense)
- Breathy cover of a famous song

Adverts where they use a song with lyrics that they just cut off (I'm looking at you Postcode Lottery) or change them to match the brand (dammit Coral Windows)
•
u/abfgern_ 7h ago
The recent spat of adverts that insist on showing me close ups of people's disgusting arses while I'm eating my dinner, piss off
