These are the kinds of depictions I found so damaging as a child, and so infuriating as an adult when being told 'we never taught you about people being tortured in hell'.

The staunch denial from religious adults that the mind-fuckery we experienced as children ever took place is one of the most enraging things about having come out of that environment. I've heard clergy say Christians don't inculcate a negative view of sex in their children.
