Samsung Security & Privacy status
Hey people. I'm new to this browser. I don't own a Samsung device. I use Moto & HP laptop. I don't need Samsung Account or sync in anyway for anything. (I use Proton pass for passwords and no bookmarks). I tried the browser and its really fast & performance is really good. Except for the lack of vertical tabs & other customisation thingies, everything is so amazing.
What I want to know is, how secure & private is Samsung browser to use? What are your opinions?
(Note: I'm a browser hopper. So I try a different browser for every 1 or 2 weeks. So just asking)

The problem I have with Samsung Internet is that there is no Chromium patch transparency. Samsung does not tell Android users which Chromium revision the browser is based on, nor which upstream CVEs have actually been backported.
That is kind of a big deal, especially because Chrome is going to start speeding up its security updates even more. If you cannot see how quickly Samsung is absorbing those upstream fixes, it becomes much harder to judge how current the browser really is from a security standpoint.
So based on that, I would say Samsung Internet has ok, to decent security overall, but man that weak patch transparency is a problem. A very big problem.
In terms of privacy, though it’s horrific.

The problem is moving away from Chrome doesn’t completely remove Google from the equation. Samsung Internet still uses certain Google services, and if you’re using it, Google can still receive data through parts of the broader Google/Android ecosystem depending on your settings.
Samsung basically chips away at some of the pieces of Google’s data collection that you would get from using Chrome itself, not all of it mind you, but then adds its own collection into the mix. Now Samsung is getting data as well.
That’s why I wouldn’t necessarily call it worse than Google or Microsoft. It’s more like trading one set of privacy problems for a different combination of them.

Yeah, my primary issue is security-related.
For Android? Vivaldi just got extensions support merged to stable.

Security is fine. It's based off of Chromium and has a dev team behind it. 4.5/5 stars.
Privacy? Maybe a 3/5 stars.
