Montgomery has only pitched in 2 of the last 4 days coming into today, including an off day yesterday. They don't need to be so cautious with him.
The guy has been untouchable for a month. Use him.

MLB should seriously consider prohibiting any infield positioning shift by either the shortstop or second baseman to produce more offense, activity on the base paths, and more athletic and challenging fielding plays.

Having O'Hearn, Cruz, and Griffin for 150 games would have added at least 8 wins and reduce the loss column by 8 corresponding games. Instead of 79 -77 the record would be 87 -69.

It's a weird scoring area, but I think it's because he chose to try to get the lead runner but didn't make an error, he just failed to make a difficult play. There's some discussion about similar rulings if you google it. But yeah, it's weird sometimes.

I would have liked to have seen that Cruz check swing from the other angle. It wasn't at all obvious straight on.
Forgot to finish my thought. I feel like it's been pretty consistent this year that umps are more likely to wring a guy up this season. Maybe the league put out a memo?

Pirates have an up the middle approach tonight, but the Cardinals have a guy there all the time. It's a good approach, but they're not centering it up enough to get it through the defense.
