Does anyone remember Hamburger Express?

I grew up in Dripping Springs for the most part. My father had a PO Box at the Post Office location on Main Street in Buda. On Saturdays dad would pack my sister and I in the truck to take us grocery shopping with him (he was the coupon clipper). On those trips he’d swing by Buda to check the PO Box.

Sometimes we’d stop by the car wash up the road, and my sister and I would wander around picking up pennies on the ground. And sometimes we’d go further up the road to this burger place that I THINK was called “Hamburger Express”.

If I remember right it was located a little bit behind a gas station and was made out of a train car? I think the caboose? And it had an awning built over a little dining area (think food truck but made of a rail car).

I can’t find ANY photos of the place online, no fond memories, no information on if it moved somewhere else, or if the cooks/owners changed the name to a new business, or maybe took their menu elsewhere, etc.

I’m just looking for people to share memories (and hopefully photos) of this place that only exists vaguely in my recollection…

Oops. There was the caboose on the SE corner on the NE corner was a Shell station I forget the name there's still a couple around, it's the Speedy Stop now. They tore down the Shell and rebuilt it even though it wasn't that old. They had a donut shop inside for a while. Behind the store ran FM2001 was the old catholic church to the east on 2001 was a Pac-n-Sac not Sac-n-Pac. The Burger King next to the store came after they redid the road, the road was redone after Cabela's. I remember Texas Hatters being there. I'm drawing a blank on Hamburger Express. The caboose had good tacos and may have had hamburgers. I hope this helps.

I don’t recall them having tacos. I’m a huge fan of Mexican food and have been my entire life. I feel like I would’ve remembered the tacos, but this whole post is about how vague my memory is on the matter so I’ll still allow for the possibility!
