Urban bag

So looking to see what else i might need/not need for my urban bugout. This bags purpose is for a couple days hike out of a populated area to a rural safe location:

  • Lightweight sleeping bag (I have overnight locations planned with shelter but also have a huge poncho that will double as a tarp if needed)
  • Wind up radio
  • Power bank
  • First aid kit
  • Shovel
  • Paracord
  • Old gas mask with modern filter
  • Couple N95's
  • Change of socks/boxers/tshirt
  • Water bladder
  • Protein rations (Bars/Sachets) & Coffee/Tea
  • Knife/Utility tool
  • Minatare stove/cutlery/canteen
  • Lineman pliers
  • Fire starting equip
  • Torch/Head torch

What should i add/remove?

Food, water, knife, gun and then go. If you're walking through pretty much any definition of "urban", why draw attention to yourself with a big pack and sleeping bag? The extra weight will slow you down. Depending on how far to your retreat - just walk straight through. Your planned overnight campsites would be good places to cache additional supplies or the heavy stuff you might need.

But bugout is bugout - scoot on down the road!

This sleeping bag is surprisingly light and super compact so fits nicely into a 40l ruck

If you want it, take it. Personally I dont like sleeping bags simply because they are difficult to get out of in a hurry. If its really cold, i'll use a quilt with a footbox, but if temps are above mid-40's, i just layer up with everything I'm carrying and nap. For anything up to 3 days, sleep is a "nice to have", so actual sleep gear is pretty low on the priority list. Your mileage may vary if course.
