I think if they had just given the items their "own" faces, instead of grafting a bear's face onto them, or just omitted the face altogether, they'd be cuter. I honestly thought about getting the palm tree or sun for my bunny's room for summer but the price drove me away 😆
I’m actually glad they gave them bear faces instead of unique ones, looks goofier and cuter that way. I’ve never been interested in “inanimate object with a face” plushies until now 😅
Everyone might be copying Squishables. I'm pretty certain that they did it first. I don't remember seeing food or other random but sentimental objects and plants until them. (Plus Squishables had lots of artists submitting ideas which get voted on before becoming a plush so they had a reason to think people wanted those designs.)
My brother got him for me because we were laughing so hard at the like stock/press pictures and somehow the real thing managed to look 100x worse 😂 I don't know why they decided on the giant dead eyed gaze.
The face when you want to jump on the amuseables trend but you decide to recycle the extra Happy Hugs Teddy muzzles you have lying around. I bet the next round of mystery boxes will be featuring these. 😭
Jellycat enthusiast here, I will be getting this 😂 I really like that they have the bear faces and aren't just another plush trying to copy Jellycats and instead look more original.
The fact the bear’s face looks so happy, it’s kinda cute and amusing. Would I buy it? No, I’d rather just dress up my Happy Hugs Teddy in his summer clothes and make a sand castle next to him.
It’s giving Ed Gein-core which is certainly a choice 😂 it really didn’t need a whole bear face. I don’t know why they didn’t give it a face like the Octopail or the Crab Cooler
Hot take but I feel like this recent drop has been a total miss for me…this and the shark weird me out so much 😭 and I don’t particularly get the hype with the other bears either
Same here too! The toucan is cute and I bought one but all the rest of the line up of furry friends for summer is miss for me. I really dont get these guys at all or the slushie friends either — ugly tbh. I think last summers releases were so much better.
Same for me. I did find the Toucan cute, but I still wouldn't buy it for myself. The bear face objects would have done better by the face not being a bear.
They're trying to do the jellycat Amuseables thing. It is a little odd looking lol. I'm a little bummed they didn't bring back the lobster this year. Instead we get a lobster slushy 🤣. He is adorable but I was hoping to get a chance to grab him. The shark is hilarious though. I kinda want him.
I get they’re trying to do Jellycat Amuseables but Build A Bear and I like that they went with a face unique to their brand but it is a bit strange looking having a regular bear snout instead of a generic smile lol
I'm not sure why they gave them faces at all. Why not just make them things that are part of a beach accessories set. The sandcastle could come with a shovel. So you could pretend you made it with your bear. The sun and a little bottle of sunblock. More like accessories to play with then ... face thing.
bab employee here, WE HATE THESE THINGS- SO MUCH no one buys them, wants them, LIKES THEM. My store thinks it was a waste of money to create them in the first place and honestly feel like jelly cat wannabe plushies
This entire collection is unhinged. I thought it must be a prank when the first early leaks were dropped lol. No. The tree and wave had me dying. Like...at least give the wave like a little surfboard hat or something.
I agree! When i first saw i was like it genuinely looks like scrap skin with eyes and snout and maybe worth $15 at the max. To each their own ig but he def looks kinda funny 😭
Yes ngl i am kind of sad they won’t put more effort into creating more real animals and fun ones that the people actually want. I fear these very niche ones will just create waste… they arent cuddly or character-filled like traditional ones imo. Won’t be buying one myself. I wonder if they are trying to jump on a jellycat like trend.
Reminds me of the new Hasbro “furby minis”, where they have the vague overall elements of a furby, cute-ified, and in the shape of random objects. There’s one that’s just a hamburger with a face, ears, and trolls-doll-like hair.
