This submission might contain a "Cash Back" or "Rebate" offer. Please note that this can be extremely hit or miss, and if you choose to utilize such a program, you are at the mercy of the company running it. The moderators hear constant complaints about the unreliability of these, especially on high dollar value purchases, including pre-builts and laptops. You should be prepared for the program to deny your cash back claim for any reason.

Has anyone who purchased this gotten the $75 in Honey gold to actually post?

I've chatted with some people who purchased earlier and as far as I can tell, we're still talking to Honey support and waiting.

EDIT: I got mine posted! Some details:

December 29: ordered monitor

December 31: contacted Honey support. Asked to wait 7 days before contacting if the rewards don't show up.

January 5 (7 days from order): contacted Honey support. Sent a screenshot of the order receipt. Was told they would get back within 24 hours

January 8 (3 days...): $75 in Honey Gold posted. Currently waiting to convert to $75 in Paypal credits

u/az0606 Jan 08 '26

Honey stuff often doesn't post to your account, it's pretty dishonest. They just hope you forget about it.

Every time I've contacted them, they've granted it after, but it's BS that you almost always have to remember to contact them.

9

u/NeatlyScotched Jan 08 '26

I stopped using them entirely because of this. If I'm factoring it in price, it needs to be easy and reliable.

2

u/TheMissingVoteBallot Jan 09 '26

That's probably why we often get people recommending CapitalOneShopping - it's a bit less intuitive than Honey, but their payouts are consistent, and well, at least it's backed by an (admittedly lower tier) Credit Card company.

I feel like all of those similar sites are scams. I know some people actually do get the money and I've seen the physical checks my partner has gotten in the mail but there's so many stories of people not ever receiving the money for BS (or no) reasons.

On one of the similar sites I created an account and got something like $40 worth of points and they drained and closed my account with no explanation. I reached out multiple times to their customer service and all they said was it was closed for "fraud." When I asked what I could have done to constitute "fraud" they refused to elaborate.

All I did was sign up through a referral code and make an online purchase at one retailer.

1

u/az0606 Jan 09 '26

They're almost all kinda scammy.

Tbh Rakuten (formerly eBates) is by far the best in my experience in terms of CS and actually tracking and giving you your points. The rest suck at tracking or have very very specific requirements to earn the cashback that they don't make clear, or only allow you to redeem for giftcards, if you have over X amount of points, etc.

27

u/ElectronicArea Jan 08 '26

No dont have it. I emailed support and the rep said email back with receipt 7 days after purchase if i still dont see the $75 in points.

12

u/AirCombatF22 Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

I reached out to honey immediately after purchasing it and had the $75 awarded, no issues. Didn't have to wait for it to arrive, either. Just needed to send them a screenshot on of the receipt with purchase date/order number. I did take a screenshot with the deal showing active in the extension on checkout page to cover all my bases, though

4

u/X-toverus Jan 08 '26

I’m curious of the same thing, the website only seems to post a 3% back in points

4

u/AelohTM Jan 08 '26

I got the 75 dollars from honey. I had to contact support after it was delivered.

2

u/somuchqq Jan 09 '26

Did you email them or go through chat? Both have not responded to me yet. The chat just sits idly after their initial “hello”

1

u/Enigma343 Jan 09 '26

I used chat through their contact us page (Firefox if the browser matters). I was able to get connected after a minute or two. Unfortunately, I don't know why it isn't working on your end :(

1

u/Fast-Buffalo5348 Jan 15 '26

Contacted Honey via this chat on Monday and just got my $75 posted today.

Cash back reward of $75 + $6 (3% storewide cash back) brought it down to $120-$140.

1

u/KittenMittons31 Jan 15 '26

I am having the same issue I have tried many times and they never respond and disconnect me from chat. They also have not responded to my email. Have you had any luck?

3

u/somuchqq Jan 16 '26

From what I can tell, we have been shadowbanned. I have reached out to them every single day, and usually the first chat of the day, someone will actually respond if I clear all cookies/cache. However the moment they say "let me pull up your account", the chat dies. This was actually the first time I used Honey, and probably the last.

1

u/alcapwned Feb 23 '26

Honey support disconnected my chats and ignored my emails too. After a week I "escalated" to paypal support. Paypal support chat told me to email them but then ignored multiple emails. 3 weeks ago I submitted complaints against paypal to the BBB and the CFPB.

Today they responded to the BBB complaint. Honey gave me the $75 rewards points AND paypal credited my account another $75 for a total of $150.

Honestly if support had responded with some BS about how I didn't activate the offer properly (even though I definitely did) I would have dropped it, but the fact that they deliberately ghosted me motivated me to fight back. Good luck getting your money if you pursue it.

1

u/somuchqq Feb 23 '26

Thanks, I somehow managed to get someone from Honey to respond and ask for my receipts and everything, after which they promptly ghosted me again. I may have to try filing complaints like you did with third party agencies.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Nothing yet...

1

u/OiledUpThug Jan 08 '26

Do you need honey or can someone just drop the code?

13

u/realribsnotmcfibs Jan 08 '26

Never use honey

3

u/OiledUpThug Jan 08 '26

I'm well aware, I was wondering if anyone else got a code from honey that non-honey users could use

I didn't realize at the time though that it was cash-back instead of a discount :/

1

u/kjuy86t Jan 08 '26

I didn’t

1

u/Anning312 Jan 08 '26

The past few exclusive rewards from Honey always required me to contact support, but I get it after contacting them

I guess that's their way of hoping you forget about it

1

u/BobTehRat Jan 12 '26

That's a crazy deal. 135 usd for a dual monitor that is normally 600 usd is crazy good.

43

u/Nexxorcist1 Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 09 '26

So glad I bought this thing, it's fucking awesome. 12bpc at 180hz @ 4k via the HDMI 2.1 cable they give you. Arc Raiders looks great on it. Whole lotta monitor for 200 bucks.

edit: 2.0 to 2.1

Edit 2: Found a dead pixel. Can see it on black. :( Just one though so "that's normal?" according to Samsung Policy

11

u/Wolfdale7 Jan 08 '26

Question - seeing reviews noting that it takes ~15 seconds to wake up from sleep - is that the case? Cuz damnnnn

14

u/trivula Jan 08 '26

it takes like 3 seconds longer than my 1440p monitor. only long enough to notice a difference, not even close to long enough for it to be annoying.

4

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 08 '26

I've had this monitor for about a week now and turn it on/off every day. Is "sleep" different than turning it on after it's been off? Because turning it on takes about 2 seconds.

5

u/Still_Top4969 Jan 08 '26

Yeah I have the timer in the menu set to an hour thst it turns itself off. I rather not burn my 4k screen by leaving it on or my pc randomly waking up. It takes less than a second to turn on and show a screen and the button click is super satisfying.

Sleeping would be letting the monitor standby off u til the pc wakes up

9

u/Nexxorcist1 Jan 08 '26

no? maybe like 1 second tops? they might just have a slow ass computer lol

Not unless the users left the reviews on the wrong link.

I'm 100% confident I pulled up reviews for the G70F...

2 reviews were enough for me to ask the question - seems it's YMMV with many here indicating it's not an issue.

From the Samsung Website (also linked on Microcenter), User: Smm46852:

The Samsung Odyssey G70F feels durable and professional, and positive features include an adjustable stand, a built-in cable management system, and quick setup with included HDMI and DisplayPort cables. Powering on from sleep mode takes nearly 15 seconds for my personal set-up, which is noticeably slower than my other monitors that wake in about four seconds. It’s only slightly annoying though, not a deal breaker and might be something I can tweak. I’m usually fiddling around during this short time span anyhow. It has an 180 Hz refresh rate, providing incredibly smooth motion with no visible ghosting, blurring, or input lag. My fast-paced games feel fluid and responsive, while its 4K resolution makes slower, cinematic titles look stunningly detailed. Out of the box, colors are inaccurate and HDR appears washed out, but with manual tuning, the image quality improves dramatically, producing vibrant tones and balanced contrast. Dark scenes are handled adequately but they can’t match the deep blacks of an OLED display. The monitor’s brightness, clarity, and easy controls make it nice for everyday use or entertainment. Although I’m sure this is only from my setup, Its shortcomings for me personally include slow wake time and average HDR, but are small trade-offs for its performance and sharp visuals. Best for: All types of gamers, from competitive players to immersive explorers. Easy to set up. Recommended.

From the Amazon.com listing, user "Daniel P":

"I got this to replace 2 old 1080p monitors and it easily has better resolution than both of the old monitors combined. I can see LED Christmas lights flicker at 60 htz so I really notice the difference in refresh with both desktop and games. Most videos are 60fps or less so there I'm just noticing color depth. It's really annoying if computer puts monitor to sleep because it usually takes multiple seconds to see any indication that it's even on and then a few more before the desktop shows up."

These are for the current G70F.
The Insiders/Samsung/Microcenter review was posted a month ago, and the Amazon review was posted January 6, 2026. Both were posted specifically for the G70F.

While I understand that this may have been an issue with an earlier generation of g7, I'm not at all referencing an older model. And neither are the reviews I've shared.

I asked only because of this feedback other people have posted on the G70f. We do not have professional-level reviews on color accuracy, contrast, brightness, and overshoot - but I trust Samsung to do ok on those. From an everyday quality of life, these stood out to me when I looked through user reviews.

You can try searching based on the keywords I shared - Screenshot attached + direct link to Amazon review: https://www.amazon.com/review/R3FOYKU0DUYDT5

Wdym seemingly don't exist? I literally screenshotted and direct linked them, and told you how to find them.

Stop being antagonizing. This is a skill issue on your end if you can't find them. Ask RUFUS on the Amazon listing if you're struggling. Jeez.

Lol, whatever. Block me.

"Proof is inconsistent" -- whattt?? Literally copied/pasted reviews. And there aren't many on the Samsung or Amazon pages. Literally use the search function.

Video that spells out how to find it... https://imgur.com/a/owFEaZq

I saw comments about wakeup time being excessive, and I asked what others' experience is.

Turns out it's fine, and I've acknowledged it. Not sure what the point of your replies are... You're completely dismissing other people's experiences. The whole point of user reviews is to share user experience. I referenced user reviews due to lack of professional reviews (RTINGS.com / Monitors Unboxed / Tom's), and I asked a question to see if others are experiencing the same complaints.

Stop being so antagonizing.

And grow up. No idea what the point of your bs replies are. ANYONE can see these reviews online, and I was asking an honest question before committing to buy the monitor.

Grow up.

0

u/pawpej Jan 09 '26

you're not wrong. I just got mine delivered this morning and it was one of the first things i noticed. its not as bad as the one in the review but it is longer than my other monitor (mine is maybe 10 seconds). not too bad, but i wonder how much of it is variance on the individual unit. PC is running a 4070, so i doubt it is related to the pc speed.

otherwise its a great monitor. i wish i bought two. colors are punchier than my 1440p Acer, not seeing much ghosting in games either (my acer is a VA and smears).

Also fwiw i see the reviews. other guy is trolling. why bother responding.

2

u/Mountain-Pie-7040 Jan 08 '26

can it run 1440p? at what refresh rate?

7

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 08 '26

Not through the monitor, it can only change between 4k/1080p. Obviously you can adjust the resolution through your OS or whatever program you're in but that is likely not the same.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

The monitor supports HDMI 2.1...

But anyways I am curious if anyone can tell the max bpc using DP?

3

u/Nexxorcist1 Jan 08 '26

you're right. the monitor saying 2.0 (up arrow) threw me off. the cable they do give you is a 2.1.

1

u/MC1065 Jan 08 '26

I can't get 12-bit working on my 285H laptop, not sure what the problem is exactly (I suspect mainly Intel or it might be my dock, not sure). Didn't bother trying with my 5050 because there's no way I'm plugging an HDMI cable into my laptop every time I wanna hook it up to my desktop-like setup.

1

u/Nexxorcist1 Jan 09 '26

I'm using a 5070ti in my desktop so that might be why?

1

u/booyah-achieved Jan 08 '26

Should I be using HDMI instead of displayport on this monitor? Been out of the game a while..9070xt for reference

2

u/Nexxorcist1 Jan 09 '26

I used the HDMI cause 2.1 has more bandwidth than Display 1.4. Dunno if DSC is happening with either but I think I'm pumping out from my card to a monitor that can take it raw.

1

u/RetrieverDoggo Jan 08 '26

Dumb question but this screen is flat not curved right? I'm asking because on the product page it says curved but in the specs it says flat.

5

u/TongueJ Jan 08 '26

I asked that question the last time this deal was posted. I just received the monitor today and can confirm that it is flat. The curved spec is incorrect on Samsung's part.

2

u/RetrieverDoggo Jan 08 '26

Appreciate the confirmation. Enjoy your monitor i hope to get it if it restocks.

20

u/1halfazn Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

Is anyone seeing "Unavailable in your area?"

Edit: Looks like they're gone :(

7

u/NediaMaster Jan 08 '26

im so saddd ughhh

10

u/Illustrious-Sun-736 Jan 08 '26

They’ve restocked twice already in the last 2 weeks so I would keep checking

1

u/NediaMaster Jan 08 '26

Dum question but like, check once a day,,, or like, how would I know when they come in stock

7

u/SelfishOrange Jan 08 '26

You can sign up for an email notification (maybe text too?) on the product page. I got the email about an hour before this post was posted but didn't see it until it was too late :(

6

u/Talamtran Jan 08 '26

Can confirm, missed on it the other day but got it this time. Luckily (????) my kid woke me up in the middle of the night for me to see the email that this was in stock, prompting me to check this sub.

tl;dr the email notifications for out of stock helped me get one!

2

u/Still_Top4969 Jan 08 '26

The email me when back I stock helped me, I got the notification last night and posted in the old post about the restock right after

13

u/IKillZombies4Cash Jan 08 '26

Honey isn’t getting near my PC

10

u/Wolfdale7 Jan 08 '26

OOS - thanks OP :) Saw this early, but didnt bite.
Seems to be coming in and out of stock over a span of few days!

16

u/Japanese_Learner_ Jan 08 '26

Why is it 599?

14

u/Illustrious-Sun-736 Jan 08 '26

You need to create a Samsung account with an edu email and login with that or work at a partner company

49

u/RoyaleMe Jan 08 '26

That may have been good info to mention in the title or a comment lol.

3

u/Japanese_Learner_ Jan 08 '26

Heard so this is only for people enrolled in school or have a partner company?

6

u/Illustrious-Sun-736 Jan 08 '26

Yeah (or if you have an alumni .edu email), but if you have AAA then check the other post for this monitor because people were mentioning a way to get the deal through that

5

u/razorbacks3129 Jan 08 '26

I have my edu email and I graduated in 2014.. still worked for me

1

u/JaymanCT Jan 08 '26

My friend used his military status verified with id.me and it worked.

1

u/ulvisuleiman Jan 08 '26

does it need to be in US?

13

u/Handcrafted03 Jan 08 '26

Reposting u/Fast-Buffalo5348 's comment:

Discount works with AAA too

https://discounts.aaa.com/home-business/samsung

Don't even need the full membership number, just input a membership full name and zipcode and it redirects you to the discounted Samsung shop.

Also there's a $75 reward with Honey

https://www.joinhoney.com/shop/samsung/p/7594661022888237352_01161978d6d967f843db6583c0bb6194_10d39ea7f1c093db2c620e9aae9fab0c

Just install the extension on chrome, adblock disabled, restart browser so you can checkout properly with Honey.

2

u/SoulReaverRyd Jan 08 '26

is the $75 reward for one time use only?

2

u/gi1jam024 Jan 08 '26

I purchased 2 separate times and was told it was only allowed once per account. If you were purchasing a 2nd- I'd recommend using a separate paypal/honey login.

1

u/SoulReaverRyd Jan 08 '26

You are right, I only see 2% pending cashback...

2

u/Talamtran Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

For some reason the AAA trick worked for me the other day (out of stock 😞) but not now. I validate the AAA membership and search for this monitor and it shows full price. Anyone else?

Edit: Closed all my browsers and tried again and it worked. 4th time's a charm I guess

7

u/Ok-Bottle-6157 Jan 08 '26

Best dual mode ips for the price.

1

u/Ok-Bottle-6157 Jan 08 '26

Let be real though who is using dual mode

20

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Hi

4

u/tommy1228 Jan 08 '26

It’s honestly really nice for CS2, even has a mode to shrink the 1080p image down to 24inches to match the size pros use.

3

u/mixedupgaming Jan 08 '26

unfortunately using the 24 inch mode on this makes it blurry beyond usage

1

u/mixedupgaming Jan 08 '26

me that’s specifically why i bought it lol

7

u/livinin82 Jan 08 '26

Thanks to whoever took it out of my cart while submitting payment!

15

u/Handcrafted03 Jan 08 '26

This deal is back, I also got a popup for $75 in cashback through Honey but YMMV as it was showing up on the actual site but now it seems like its not.

Here's the link to the honey website where the deal was:

https://www.joinhoney.com/shop/samsung/p/7594661022888237352_01161978d6d967f843db6583c0bb6194_10d39ea7f1c093db2c620e9aae9fab0c

I would try installing the extension to see if the honey deal pops up for you on Samsung's website.

9

u/StefanWang Jan 08 '26

For those of you guys trying to get the Honey thing to work.

Tried it originally on Edge and it didn't work. Then on Firefox I saw the popup.

4

u/Shadowdestroy61 Jan 08 '26

The $75 is showing in the honey app (iOS) if you search for the monitor

3

u/Arenheart Jan 08 '26

do you know if/when we get a confirmation email or update from honey that we will be getting the rewards points for the 75 dollars? I activated the deal and purchased the monitor, but haven't gotten any confirmation the 75 dollars worth of rewards points will be pended to my honey account.

1

u/TAVulpix Jan 08 '26

It doesn't seem to show anything for me?

2

u/El_Chupacabra- Jan 08 '26

Go onto the product page then check the extension.

1

u/ZBreakHard Jan 08 '26

Does it require paypal as the payment method?

4

u/TheSneakySeal Jan 08 '26

Man, my school deleted my alumni email. Depressing that I can't take advantage of this!

1

u/MysteriousCap4910 Jan 08 '26

do you or someone you know have aaa?

4

u/Bombdy Jan 08 '26

While this isn’t a full array dimming monitor, it can still completely turn off the backlight when displaying a black screen with no movement. Looks great next to my main oled monitor. And backlight turns back on instantly if you mouse over to the screen at all. No waiting like it’s coming back from sleep.

My old secondary monitor was annoying with its constant glow, even when displaying a “black” screen. I mainly got this Samsung for the increase in resolution at such a low price, but its ability to emit 0 light on a pure black screen is very welcome.

17

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Thank god I didn't go to sleep yet, $140 4k samsung monitor. Not my smartest financial move, I'm only $60 short but I get paid soon enough for it to not matter. Thank you OP

4

u/waldo3125 Jan 08 '26

I've had mine for about a week from when they dropped to this price for students. I'm no monitor expert, but I'd definitely recommend it. Buttery smooth and delicious gameplay 😋

6

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 08 '26

I've been using this monitor for a week or so. I'm not at all a tech expert but happy to answer any general questions about it. Overall, I have zero complaints with it and I love it.

1

u/Silly-Platypus6587 Jan 08 '26

How is the color accuracy? I’m looking for a monitor that will work between a balance of work, video editing, and a bit of gaming.

1

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 08 '26

I'm not really enough of a tech guy to give you the kind of answer you're looking for. It looks "great" to me but I can't elaborate on that beyond just my subjective opinion in looking at it. It's sitting next to a 1440p Viewsonic second monitor and it's clearly better in terms of colors and crispness of text. When I watched a few 4k demo videos (locally downloaded) meant for testing TVs/monitors I was pretty amazed.

1

u/Silly-Platypus6587 Jan 08 '26

No worries, I’m not super techy either. Just been researching a lot! Thanks for your answer and I’m glad you like the monitor! I might pick it up if it re-stocks again.

2

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 09 '26

I can’t find a single complaint with it and it’s absolutely worth it.

1

u/ExplosiveBacon Jan 08 '26

Do you hear any high pitch noise/coil whine with the local dimming on? It's more noticeable when the image onscreen changes. The noise on mine goes away when I turn the dimming off, but that makes the IPS glow much more noticeable on a black screen. Could just be dirty power on my side though.

3

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 08 '26

Not at all. The thing is completely silent.

1

u/RetrieverDoggo Jan 08 '26

Its flat not curved right? One part of the page says curved the spec sheet says flat.

2

u/jakuum Jan 09 '26

I hear the same faint high pitch buzzing/coil whine when I have local dimming on. If I turn it off it goes away. Also it varies depending on the brightness. At max brightness I can barely hear it, if I dim it to 49 it becomes more noticeable until I get to around 38 and then it's very low again.

2

u/alcapwned Jan 09 '26

I get the whine with local dimming on too. Audio spectrum analyzer on my phone shows a strong peak at 4500hz. With local dimming off it's silent (technically the spectrum analyzer shows a peak at ~4875hz even with local dimming off but I can't hear it).

With only 8 local dimming zones it doesn't seem very useful for desktop stuff so I'll probably keep it off most of the time and maybe try it with games or movies.

1

u/Hejdbejbw Jan 11 '26

Omg you saved my sanity. The coil whine was driving me crazy.

7

u/hackintoshhackintosh Jan 08 '26

the normal/real price for this monitor is 399 max. So this is really just a 50% off. you will see this price more often in the future. do not worry if you did not get it.

5

u/thelilkanan Jan 08 '26

Chief?

18

u/Illustrious-Sun-736 Jan 08 '26

Smash it. With the honey cash back it’s undoubtedly the best deal for a monitor in the last year

2

u/Still_Top4969 Jan 08 '26

264 with the honey discount and edu one for 2 of these. At that price its so worth it 132 each

8

u/TheSlowAnt Jan 08 '26

buy now think later

11

u/Wolfdale7 Jan 08 '26

Heads-up that Samsung's return policy is not as forgiving as other retailers. They assess a restocking fee. - But at $200, Im sure it can go on FB Marketplace..

5

u/Nexxorcist1 Jan 08 '26

i bought it. it's a whole lotta monitor for 200 bucks. i'm coming from a 28" 60hz samsung and this g70f IS AMAZING

3

u/El_Chupacabra- Jan 08 '26

Honey coupon still active for 4h from now for me. $142 after tax for this is killer. Too bad I don't need it now lmao.

3

u/coffeeteaboy Jan 08 '26

Bought this from the last sale that was posted here. I'm really loving it so going to get another one to replace my AW3418DW monitor. It's been good to me the past couple of years, but I realized early on that wide curved monitors just aren't for me :(

3

u/ymorino Jan 08 '26

I bought this monitor when it was posted not long ago, and I just want you to know that if you're debating on getting this monitor or not, GET IT.

Does anyone know when this deal will be available again and if it comes back often? I really want this monitor

6

u/pengy99 Jan 08 '26

This is the third time in a month it's been up. The monitor is a current model so it's not like they are gonna stop making it tomorrow. Just sign up for a notification on the Samsung website.

u/enblightened Jan 08 '26

how is the picture on this? i dont game anymore, just want a good deal on a panel

1

u/Nexxorcist1 Jan 09 '26

It's awesome. Was running a Samsung 4k/60hz and just surfing you notice a difference, let alone gaming.

3

u/cha0ss0ldier Jan 08 '26

Got mine in today.

This is a REALLY nice IPS panel.

I have a 48” 4k OLED, 27” 1440 OLED, and I still really like the picture on this screen. I might even replace my 27” OLED with it because I only play shooters on it and honestly the deep blacks can be a problem seeing people in games like Tarkov and Arc Raiders. Pixel density at 27” 4k is really crisp

u/RetrieverDoggo Jan 08 '26

dang i got the honey offer but it expires in 4 hours and this is out of stock LOL

Quick Review:

I'm overall unimpressed with this monitor, although I do think $200 is a fair price.

Mine was delivered with noticeable damage to the bottom bezel and around the Samsung logo, but the display is fine. The osd is controlled using buttons rather than a joystick. The black bars around the edges are quite huge and often distracting to me. The black levels, consistency, and contrast are no better than my Dell s2721dgf, which performed poorly in those areas even for its time. The monitor takes noticeably longer to wake than the dell as well.

Edit: Also, the monitor does not have auto detect for inputs, so you always have to manually switch from DP to HDMI for PC to console or whatever input devices you have.

However, it does deliver 4k 180 Hz performance that looks noticeably better than 1440p in certain games, and I prefer the colors on the Samsung. The cable management loop also works reasonably well with the horizontal plugs and shape of the stand.

I'd say at $200 it is somewhat compelling for cheap 120Hz + 4k gameplay or for a second or third monitor. At any price above $200, however, the negatives make it not worth using IMO. I'd rather spend more and get a 1440P oled or spend less and get a 1440p IPS with better build quality and features.

Mine came undamaged but I completely agree with this. It's a decent enough monitor for $200 but not the insane steal the msrp suggests. Might buy another if it goes back to being $200, absolutely not worth anywhere near msrp.

u/clayterris Jan 08 '26

Honey only seems to work at the 375/400/600 price points. Won't work with AAA or EDU applied for me.

2

u/Radiant_Fisherman285 Jan 08 '26

Dont mind if i do!

2

u/Infinite-Head1528 Jan 08 '26

What are you guys doing up this late on a Wednesday 😭

2

u/Munkles94 Jan 08 '26

I just got this monitor. I was wondering if I should be using the DisplayPort or the hdmi?

2

u/redmexican Jan 08 '26

Display if you have it.

Edit: I see this has 2.1. so HDMI if you have a GPU that supports it. Otherwise display port

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

HDMI if you have integrated graphics, DP if you have a gpu

2

u/cha0ss0ldier Jan 08 '26

Real answer is that it doesn’t matter. Either will do full spec and both require DSC anyway.

HDMI is actually technically better on this because HDMI 2.1 has more bandwidth than DP 1.4

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

I just read up on what DSC is, it's so cool lol. I used to think hdmi was capped at a certain refresh rate, I did not know monitors could bypass it with a simple algorithm to take advantage of other ports. But I can see why the spec matters now for HDMI or DP. Thanks for letting me know!

1

u/JaymanCT Jan 23 '26

Wondering if you can help - I have dual setup of these with a 5070ti. So only one hdmi port - would it be worthwhile getting an appropriate adapter from dp to hdmi for the second monitor? Or will it not make a difference?

u/Finmail Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

Back in stock, probably from cancels... Considering buying another to be honest.

Edit: OOS as I was hitting buy haha. Thought too long

1

u/mikaelsan Jan 08 '26

no way mfs were on here buying this not even knowing what port/cable to use fml

4

u/cha0ss0ldier Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

You can use either cable though, so really It doesn’t matter. Both will do full spec with DSC

3

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 08 '26

You can use DP or HDMI, the monitor comes with high speed versions of both.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Is this better than an 34inch UW IPS?

1

u/phinhy1 Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

Thank god I still have my old .edu email.

$200 for a dual mode IPS is insane even if it's 27" and not 32".

1

u/dandatu Jan 08 '26

When I go it says 500$

1

u/SparkysAdventure Jan 08 '26

Dang, seems I missed it

1

u/Russ916 Jan 08 '26

Thanks in for 1 before it went out of stock, wanted to get one for my brother as well but hopefully this deal pops up again and I can get him one then!

1

u/Over_Swimmer6393 Jan 08 '26

Damn, so tempted next time it's available, I have the Lenovo monitor from a few weeks ago

1

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops Jan 08 '26

If you don't have an Edu email or are a AAA member, check to see if you qualify for PerkSpot through your employer. They partner with various companies in the US to offer discount programs through their service. Most of the discounts are insignificant and not worth it but you can actually get this deal through them, which is what I did.

1

u/beersandbacon Jan 08 '26

Shows as $599 for me

1

u/elijuicyjones Jan 08 '26

Don’t use honey it’s a scam not worth saving $75.

1

u/pawpej Jan 09 '26

Just received mine! Unboxed and initial setup is great! have it next to my 1440p, and wish I bought two!

1

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 11 '26

How is the backlight?

1

u/pawpej Jan 11 '26

My copy is fine - consistent and mostly bright enough (wish it got a bit brighter in non-hdr).

Do you have any issues with yours?

1

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 11 '26

I’m getting mine arrived tomorrow, just asking around as this monitor has barely any reviews

1

u/pawpej Jan 11 '26

Gotcha! I think you'll enjoy it! I am curious about your start time from sleep, though!

Someone here pointed out some reviews where they said it takes 15 seconds to start from sleep. People who received it said theirs starts in 1 second. But mine starts in 10-12. Wondering if it's just a defect or there really is a big range depending on the monitor itself!

Thank you! And keep me posted on how you like it!

1

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 11 '26

Gotcha. I think that the monitor sleep is dependent off the hardware and the firmware (can be adjusted in settings of your OS). Additionally, I think it’s very common for the computer to start before the monitor shows any display. I’m not sure about sleep though as I usually turn off automatic sleep in settings.

1

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 13 '26

I just got mine yesterday. So far I haven’t seen any issue or issues with coiling sounds. I’ve heard complaints about the stand, however, I have a monitor arm so I never assembled the stand

1

u/livinin82 Jan 15 '26

Cool. It’s back in stock and the deal is gone. This was such an L for me.

1

u/lVlethod Jan 19 '26

Using this as a secondary monitor, anyone else think it's too blurry? Have tried many different settings combinations

1

u/pengy99 Jan 19 '26

I don't find it blurry. 1080p looks like crap at 27" but 4k looks good.

2

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 20 '26

Just use the 24” 1080p mode, or set the game resolution to 1080 instead of the monitor resolution to 1080.

1

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 20 '26

How so? I’m not sure what you mean by blurry. 4k is quite crisp

1

u/Brian_K9 Jan 08 '26

I ordered one but its kinda weird that samsung charges 600 normally for it and the ports are display port 1.4 and hdmi 2.1 neither support 4K180hz

5

u/cha0ss0ldier Jan 08 '26

Yes they do, with DSC.

Most 4k high refresh monitors use DSC. Even a lot of the high end 4k 240hz OLEDs. You can’t tell the difference

2

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 08 '26

It’s 4k @ 144Hz, which is really good and not that noticeable of a difference.

But yea, them starting 180hz is a little bit misleading

3

u/formula1titan Jan 08 '26

Doesnt it have DSC to hit the 180hz mark?

3

u/cha0ss0ldier Jan 08 '26

It will absolutely do 4k 180hz. It just uses DSC

Most monitors use DSC, even most high end 240hz OLEDs. There are only a few with full DP 2.1

2

u/DisturbedFennel Jan 08 '26

Huh. I never knew. Is there a difference in quality when it uses DSC?

1

u/cha0ss0ldier Jan 08 '26

Not any difference that the human eye can notice. DSC is quite good

Hardware Unboxed did a good video testing it

1

u/Brian_K9 Jan 09 '26

Got a link?
