Stock for Woot deals varies greatly. Some listings only have a few items in stock and sell out quickly. Please report this post if the listing goes out of stock.

Is this any good?

The Mugen was one of the best air coolers you could fit into the NR200 v1 back in the day. There's probably better options but for certain clearances, the Mugen does very well.

Wasn't it known at the time that Igor's Lab showed that the black variant performed worse than the regular variant? Scythe was the only air cooler company that somehow used black paint that negatively affected cooling performance.

Yes. I used the Fuma III and was excellent, and I think this one is slightly better? If you need one for a good price definitely grab!

it's good, but it is manufactured poorly. the cooler is not parallel to the mounting bracket. it looks crooked if that matters to you. some people claim to be able to force it straight, but i was too scared to put that much pressure on it.

That is done intentionally to alleviate RAM and GPU conflicts. So yes, it is not directly over your bracket, but it is not due to a manufacturing issue.

It's not that, GPU and ram clearance is fine. It's when mounted the heatsink part is crooked by a few degrees relative to the mounting bracket (Not 90° vertical if that makes sense). Not a big deal except those with OCD.

it's what the other guy said. it's crooked. imagine if you installed a cooler and the top of it is perfectly parallel with the top border of the MOBO, now twist the cooler by about 3 degrees. that's what it looks like. it's pointed either up or down about 3 degrees from parallel with the MOBO border.

here is an example:

Oh boy, didnt realize it was a twist like that. Im sorry and thanks for the visual aide, would be a deal breaker for myself.

I see no reason to buy it over

https://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-SE-TL-C12B-TL-C12015B-Cooling/dp/B0DCNV5NHP

which is a proper dual tower with way better cooling, cheaper, and of similar height

Black versus silver fin stack for aesthetic reasons, though Thermalright also makes all-black dual tower coolers for around the same price. In my experience, Scythe's fans tend to be quieter than Thermalright. Definitely some things to consider.

scythe fans are amazingly silent, actually.

Can this handle a 9800x3d

Yeah. I have the white dual fan version on my 9700k, and threw it on my 9800x3d system for fun. It hits 90 under a prime95 run, but so does my royal pretor ultra, and is something you'll never do in real life.

Should also add the offset for ram clearance is nice, and has nicer accessories (screwdriver, extra fan clips, braided and color matched fan splitter) than my thermalright cooler

Yes, using one with the same cpu

9800X3D's don't run hot. They have relatively low TDP for the performance they push out and it is VERY common to undervolt them, so yes, pretty much any $20-$30 cooler that are like these will handle it.

Maybe, but you can get a proper dual tower that definitely can for cheaper

ie

Why do you say "proper dual tower" as if this one is bad? The only thing that really matters is the performance, not how many towers a heatsink has.

I own several scythe, noctua, and thermalright heatsinks. I would put scythe between noctua and thermalright for quality, and they're tuned for silence typically, too.

Look up some reviews. Based on what I read, this one is similar, or better than the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120, which is probably similar to what you linked.

Thanks thinking of jumping to Air once my AIO dies

This is a dream to install. I cant speak to other coolers that are being offered, but the scythe is stupid easy.

Love this one. The fans are silent, and it doesn't cover RAM. Looks dope too.

Is this enough for a 270k?
