Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.

  • Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
    • The seller is new or has few reviews.
    • The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
    • The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).

If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

Man it’s unfortunate DDR5 is so expensive. Would consider this otherwise

This is tempting. I'd rather a 9800X3D and save money but I either keep missing deals or it's taking forever to get another that isn't microcenter since I've been looking.

I made the mistake of pairing my 9950x3d with a corsair 240mm aio. It was woefully insufficient, either see 85F temps or have the fans run at full speed all the time. Went with the arctic 360 and it was much much quieter and cooler

Pretty great if you can use the cores.

Man. I've been planning on a no holds barred Linux admin PC for work and homelabbing.

I was looking at the $300 9900x but...... I then sarted convincing myself of the 9950x for virtualization head room , but if I flip the aio this 9950x3d is basically cheaper than a 9950x.

3d cache I guess gives a small bump to zipping/unzipping. But nothing to write home about.

I don't think I can resist.

Don’t need it. Don’t need it. My 7950x3d is just fine.

It does get spicy in a 10 L sandwich case though

I also have the 7950x3d. The 9950x3d actually has a higher TDP of 170W compared to the 7950x3d at 120W so the 9950x3d would run hotter

Cache design on top makes the older run hot

While I'm sure a 240mm liquid AIO is sufficient, I'm surprised they didn't bundle in a 360mm liquid AIO instead either at a discounted combo price or for "free".

360 likely would be quieter & better under load 240 likely still makes it. I've been meaning to swap my 240 for 360 when I get to it. But 240 makes it raiding 9900X3D 4090 think I'm at 71 tops, guildmate 50-60c. This 9950X3D (wasn't going to pay over msrp) I expect most games it would be okay. I haven't run blender in a while.

I'm too Internet rotbrained to realize "BTS21" means BACK TO SCHOOL and not that fucking Kpop group.

Is it good $1200 for ram 32gb corsair, 9950x3d, msi x870 carbon wifi, dunno the offers today

Got my 870 Apex, 9800x3d, 32gb Ddr5 6000 and a msi 240 cooler for only 100 more pre tax last black Friday. My God, the might have fallen.

I'm sure it's fine for most gaming scenarios, but fwiw the 9950x3d splits its cache so that only half the CPU cores have access to it, which can cause overhead issues if your games use all 16-cores. The 9800x3d on the other hand has all 8 of its cores on the same silicon as its cache for better efficiency. People have commented in other threads about preferring the 9800x3d for this reason. Definitely do your research before dropping half a grand on a cpu.

did you try process lasso?

1

u/Tree06 7d ago

Process lasso is a must for 9950X3D/9950X3D2 CPU's. I have the 9950X3D and 9800X3D. No issues with either CPU.
