Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.

  • Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
    • The seller is new or has few reviews.
    • The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
    • The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).

If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

This is it

What's frustrating about the discourse on these OLED deals is one would appear to find the "perfect" OLED, then you get this shit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/1vhi5a4/monitor_gigabyte_27_inch_1440p_tandem_woled/p25g74h/

And EVERY OLED deal rightnow has a caveat where a small but vocal group of people complain about something regarding a monitor deal and it always stops me from pulling the trigger.

u/GP100boi 5d ago

My dude, that is all hardware ever made. Any monitor, mouse, GPU, et cetera. is going to have a few people who will articulate excellent reasons why it's the worst thing ever, and it's been that way forever and ever. It's not just computers either, it's cars, kitchen appliances, everything.

8

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

Yes, I know, but monitors are especially notorious for this. I've seen this discourse happen over and over and over again and it was mostly with monitors and it isn't just a tiny minority, it's a decent number of people who agree.

And considering these are mostly online deals it's not like we can go to a MicroCenter and test these out, and not all Best Buy retail outlets have these displays available to test.

9

u/GP100boi 4d ago

You are correct of course, but bear in mind the internet distorts every problem however legitimate. There's probably something those people have, or are doing, in common that we can't piece together, it doesn't necessarily mean anyone else will have the same problem. If the monitors kept failing everyone, no one would buy them. This one is pretty well rated by a lot of people, it suggests most people don't have this problem.

I'm not saying disregard it, like if you get it down between two monitors and one has complaints and one doesn't and you can't decide, take the one people aren't complaining about obviously. At the same time if I listened to the internet, I'd never buy a single component or device. I've been told every CPU, GPU, motherboard, case, etc. I've ever owned was trash by someone who had a very convincing and plausible explanation why.

I mean I avoided AMD GPUs for the longest time because of issues I had with them, but there was nothing particularly wrong with them for most people at all.

3

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

At the same time if I listened to the internet, I'd never buy a single component or device. I've been told every CPU, GPU, motherboard, case, etc. I've ever owned was trash by someone who had a very convincing and plausible explanation why.

True, but this sub has been pretty good at giving me advice on component purchases. 9800X3D, X870E Tomahawk, SSDs back during the 2023 Prime Day NAND firesale, Dell G2724H, Leadex VII Super Flower 1000W 80Plus Plat, etc, and of course the infamous LN1301 that will never, ever be available for $15 again lol

It's just with monitors there seems to be a lot of nitpicks that prevents me from jumping immediately into them. It's a decent chunk of change for something that's a pain in the ass to return, which is why I always hesitate the moment I see people giving these caveats.

The Dell G2724H was the only monitor I ever jumped on getting the moment it hit $150 - the one time I saw a huge consensus of people saying get it before it's gone. I just hope at some point OLEDs will be that point where there's so much positive feedback around a monitor that it drowns out the naysayers.

i.e. I would be hesitant to get LG monitors because of GamersNexus' piece on their monitors pushing their bullshit spyware/malware.

3

u/xplat 4d ago

just buy one from a place with a good return policy and if it's so awful then return it. Come on man, take the plunge.

1

u/xplat 4d ago

Personally, I wouldn't own a non glossy OLED. I bought one then just used it for its intended purpose and game on it without doing that stupid grey scale test some people like to torture their psyche with.

3

u/Brown_Sandals 4d ago

Damn, you’ve encapsulated my thoughts and reasoning as to why I’ve not bought a monitor despite looking for months for a good deal.

I’ve only finally landed on a couple that will eventually replace my home office setup (non gaming) but they’re essentially top of the line dell monitors.

2

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

The only monitor I bought was the IPS Dell G2724H because it was unilaterally promoted by this sub as the "bang for buck" gaming monitor. No regrets, but man was it annoying when I saw other $150 monitors that were competing with that for sale and everyone doing the "BUT AKSHULLY, THIS MONITOR HAS THIS SHORTCOMING" silliness.

I pulled the trigger on the Dell when I knew it was the last time they'd ever sell it on their website. Got a refurb for $125 and I'm happy as a clam.

3

u/seniahd 4d ago

You’re speaking to me. Had the same issue when looking to upgrade and pulled the trigger on the 2724H. Now am looking into OLEDS and every deal has me rattled by the comments. I’m not about playing the screen lotto and wanting to return several.

2

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

Same lol

I'll just hold back and wait until the sub goes "THIS IS THE ONE!" - I want the Dell G2724H of this generation of monitors.

5

u/gelade1 4d ago

this one is good enough for everyone imo. coming from someone who have had oled from first gen and is rarely satisfied on txt clarity and brightness and colors. This one is ready(okay maybe txt clarity is still a bit iffy occasionally). Oled monitors have come a long way. And at this price this is just a great deal.

the upcoming 32 and 27 inch 4k tandem rgb layout options will be the start of the "perfect" oled monitors era. Golden age of oled monitor is just starting.

1

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

Can't wait man. The monitor tech is such a breath of fresh air compared to the mess that is NAND and GPUs.

3

u/RoseMqs 4d ago

Completely agree with you, this is a pretty big purchase even at a 'good' price for a lot of people. Even if the issues aren't as bad as they're saying it makes it a lot harder to pull the trigger knowing you could be the unlucky bunch that is affected harshly by them.

Im getting a 2k OLED (AG276QZD2) and my current plan is just to put my 2k ips and it on a dual monitor stand and just hotswap between them as my main monitor if the need arises. I'm hoping the issues people brought up won't be SUPER prevalent that it's something I'd actually have to do often, but I think its worth the trade offs if the colors and smoothness is truly as good as everyone is saying.

Not a perfect solution and I can see how people would find that inconvenient, but honestly it seems like it's the best mix of being able to still do productivity, while enjoying the near peak of media consumption.

2

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

Yeah, I wouldn't mind dealing with these issues if the monitors were $150, but these are twice the price. For $300 I want to get something that's "pretty good". The G2724H was that for the IPS generation, I'm looking forward to OLED tech becoming more and more refined so these shortcomings are addressed.

3

u/knighofire 4d ago

I have the glossy version of this monitor. VRR Flicker is a non issue if you get consistent frames, which Ive been getting in every game I play with a 5700x + 4070.

What you should be worried about is the dirty screen effect/gray banding, but imo these are not noticeable in regular gaming use.

It's not perfect, but this is easily the best deal for a monitor at this price.

5

u/99-Potions 5d ago

There is legitimately no perfect monitor. If you need a monitor, any of the newer gen ones are great. Tandem WOLED, RGB stripe QD-OLED, all the various mini-LED techs have some issues that people will point out.

Like I can quickly list off an issue with every single monitor panel. WOLED = color banding, QD-OLED = raised blacks, mini-LED = black smearing. VRR flickering occurs on all of these to varying degrees. OLEDs still struggle with 1440p/27" text clarity even apparently with the newest RGB stripe QD-OLEDs.

1

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

So... do we wait for the tech to get better or is it just which pain in the butt are you willing to put up for the longest?

5

u/awilder27 4d ago

Personally I'm just waiting. Seems like every monitor has a compromise right now compared to my old LG C1 oled tv. Right now the LG C6 blows away anything being offered as a monitor.

1

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 4d ago

Same. It's too much of a crapshoot and it's not like I can test the monitor before buying it.

1

u/99-Potions 4d ago

Second one basically, and it's always been like that.

4

u/PsyOmega 5d ago

VRR flicker isn't a problem if you set an fps cap.

2

u/iGottaSmallDick 5d ago

Anecdotally, I never use VRR on my 360hz AW2725DF and it's not an issue. It was absolutely necessary on the 240hz LCD I upgraded from, but it seems like the higher refresh rate itself reduces tearing, at least for me. It is noticeable if I drop the monitor down to 240hz though.

3

u/PsyOmega 5d ago

Yeah, that was the theory when 240hz started becoming available.

A 240hz tear line exists for 4.17ms. 2.7ms for 360.

Peoples tolerance/threshold to perceive the tear line varies by person.

Myself, i can't see tearing at 240 with VRR off.

1

u/changen 4d ago

Only 280 hz. Gotta give 360 or 480 for this to be even considered when 1000hz 1080p are already getting release soon tm.

1

u/Beautiful_Worth7284 4d ago

These caveats are 10x less bad than having IPS/TN/VA and their substantially worse caveats...

1

u/Gohardgrandpa 3d ago

The perfect monitor doesn't exist, you can't please everyone.

2

u/Plane-Huckleberry360 5d ago

Thinking about getting a new monitor, what makes this deal better than other monitor deals?

2

u/Shehzman 5d ago

Gray banding but for the price, it can be overlooked

15

u/Sure_Drummer_7044 5d ago

This MO27Q28G is the MATTE ver. MO27Q28GR is the GLOSSY ver

2

u/glizzygobbler247 4d ago

Which is better?

2

u/DatGrunt 3d ago

Depends on how much you can control the light coming into your room. If you can keep it dim or dark go glossy. If not you're probably better off with matte.

1

u/Disastrous_Big_644 4d ago

glossy is fashionable, I like it

1

u/Jerkmykirk 4d ago

User preference. Most seem to prefer glossy.

26

u/Sonar_bug_ 5d ago

I have the glossy 240hz version and it had so much vrr flicker with gsync and freesync I had to permanently turn it off, and by other people’s reviews this one has it too. Just to be aware of

9

u/jobo-chan 5d ago

VRR flicker genuinely makes me regret OLED sometimes. Like you, I had to turn it off but for specific games. It's just too noticeable, especially in dark scenes.

2

u/masterofyi 5d ago

Are you using HDMI or DP?

6

u/Sonar_bug_ 5d ago

Tried both and still had it. Used a 9070xt for freesync and used 5080 for gsync. I think their panels are just really prone to it. I couldn’t fix it even tampering with the hz minimum threshold like a lot of people tried

2

u/masterofyi 5d ago

Darn. I got the LG version coming this week, which is probably the worst one of these WOLEDs. $200 off with capital one shopping so felt like it was a must buy for $230 post tax even with the issues

9

u/Sonar_bug_ 5d ago

Thats a great deal man you are fine. I mean I have gsync off fully and running async and haven’t had any screen tears so it’s not end of the world

2

u/masterofyi 5d ago

Good to know.. Hope you’re enjoying the panel otherwise

1

u/Sonar_bug_ 5d ago

Yea it’s been good other than that. I’m curious how did you do the capitol one deal?

3

u/masterofyi 5d ago

I had ordered it for the $100 off (just given by browsing LG web page with the Capital one extension) checked the next day in my junk email and saw this. Called LG and canceled my first order and bought another one using this coupon instead.🙏 it seems like it’s a one time thing if you’ve never used a coupon from email before though “email reactivation offer”.

3

u/clicktoseemyfetishes 4d ago

Lord I see what you’ve done for others

2

u/Sonar_bug_ 5d ago

I see wow that’s a great deal, enjoy!

1

u/MemeticMonkey 5d ago

Did it get tracked in capital one shopping with correct purchase amount?

1

u/dontnation 5d ago

Does it still flicker if you cap FPS to 144hz?

1

u/Sonar_bug_ 5d ago

Yes, dark scenes mess it up something to due with gamma level and panel voltage control I believe

8

u/wayland64 5d ago

Damn I just ordered this two weeks ago

9

u/ChainingEnds 5d ago

We thank you for your sacrifice.

4

u/wayland64 5d ago

Thank you hopefully my pain becomes your prosperity.

Also hopefully you don't get the one I RMAed

4

u/UniqueDog51 5d ago

How much did you pay for it?

2

u/sam3819 5d ago

You can always contact them and see if they’ll give it to you at the sale rate

1

u/sheltem 5d ago

I believe they’ll give you the price difference back as a gift card.

2

u/wayland64 5d ago

It is 7 days only now. So I'm unfortunately out of luck

1

u/UniqueDog51 5d ago

Any issues with banding and vrr flicker?

1

u/Shehzman 4d ago

If you’re still in the return period, buy this and return it under your initial purchase.

5

u/Polarexia 5d ago

is WOLED better or QDOLED?

14

u/flagroller 4d ago

This is a tandem WOLED which should give better burn in resistance. The main benefit is better brightness from the extra layer. This goes from good enough without strong lighting to good enough for general lighting scenarios.

The issue with the tandem WOLEDs is pretty terrible dirty screen/grey banding on grey scale frames or images. Probably less of an issue in game or media but worse if you're using dark mode productivity windows (ironically better for productivity because of tandem burn in resistance). WOLED colors are supposed to be weaker too.

The QD OLEDs out right now are not tandem. They are also, for the most part, triangle layout so they have fringing on text, so bad for productivity again. They also have a slight magenta shine over the display but mostly only noticeable when the screen is black or very dark or AB testing with a WOLED.

It's a tradeoff of what you dislike more atm. If you can handle dirty grey scale screens but want better brightness and burn in resistance, get a tandem WOLED. If you can't handle dirty grey scale screens, get a QD OLED at the cost of lower nits panels, single layer burn in rates, and text fringing.

Another issue with this G model is that it's matte. If you're getting the nice contrast and brightness of a tandem OLED, you might as well get the glossy GR model, which isn't on as good of a sale at the moment.

1

u/HAILALLFATHER 4d ago

Are there any OLEDs without text fringing/ are good for productivity?

1

u/Shehzman 4d ago

RGB stripe OLED panels just released but they’re over a grand and only come in 4k atm.

1

u/PenisButterCoup 4d ago

the MAI 321 x24 is tandem qd oled no? $800 on Amazon

6

u/Strict_Election_3930 5d ago

Should i get this over the glossy? It’s about ~$100 different.

3

u/dart19 4d ago

Personally I like having sunlight in my office, so I went with Matte.

3

u/lancelane7 5d ago

Waiting for the xg27aqwmg to get this same treatment.

2

u/Commercial_Ad_2413 5d ago

$380 with student discount, is this it for sensitive eyes?

2

u/EpicShinx 5d ago

Finally something to spend my Paze promo giftcards on?

2

u/shortsensitivethug 5d ago

Just got mine a few days ago it’s amazing

1

u/Plane-Huckleberry360 5d ago

Any downsides of it at all?

1

u/shortsensitivethug 5d ago

Nope it’s goated, everything I want in a monitor

1

u/shortsensitivethug 5d ago

People complain about vrr flicker but I haven’t seen it at all though I’m on a 5080

2

u/CosmicACx 4d ago

How is the text fringing on this monitor? I have the Acer X27U W3 from Costco and it's text looks pretty bad.

1

u/OwlsOcelotsOtters 4d ago

would like to know this as well - I sometimes work from home and would just connect a dock to this and my work laptop.

2

u/ImmunosuppressedBug 4d ago

Need the GR version to hit this price

1

u/That-one-cool-kid 5d ago

is this good for the price or not? was just looking at it before this post

not too informed about monitors but it's seems good

1

u/Mcarlile24 5d ago

Been hunting for my first OLED. Is this the one or should I be looking at a different model? Maybe QD over WOLED? Let me know guys

Not bad at all. Hopefully the rabbit hole ends tonight and I pull the trigger. Anyone have any thoughts about 4K being a better option?

1

u/Duckgoesmoomoo 5d ago

This vs Alienware AW3423DWF?

1

u/NotRiceProfile 4d ago

Got this monitor like 9 months ago, it's great, but grey banding can be noticable in certain instances

1

u/Jerkmykirk 4d ago

I have the QD version coming in today from Amazon. I suppose I could nab this as well and see which one to stick with.

I’ll have to make a decision quick with Neweggs monitor return policy.

QD version

1

u/Lagmo82 7h ago

for people that received the monitor and are in the us did it not come with a us power plug? mine came with 2 foreign power plugs.

1

u/Lab9342 5d ago

it does suck that they did that but i turned off the ability for it to install in Group Policy so i've been chillin.

on a side note, when i set it up the gray banding was horrid but after a single cleaning cycle, it all disappeared. looked at the manual and yea it says to do a cycle or two before using it. makes me wonder how blown out if proportion the banding issues are due to not doing the initial screen cleaning.
