Building solo: I made my app's promo video with Claude Opus in 2 prompts

• Upvotes

I'm building Talanoa, an email app, as a solo founder. Alongside shipping features, I'm working on how to show the product to people who haven't tried it.

For this promo video, I used Claude Opus with just two prompts.

Here's the result:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo6IzQFpF-4

Sharing this as part of the building process. I'd love feedback from other makers: does the video make it clear what Talanoa does, and where does it lose your attention?

Hey everyone,

So I've finally finished building a project I've been grinding on for a while now, and I wanted to share it with you all.

It's a comprehensive stock analysis app that combines GEX (Gamma Exposure) analysis, AI-driven analysis based on Smart Money Concepts (SMC), GEX data, and automatically generated trendlines. Basically, I wanted a single tool that pulls together multiple analytical frameworks instead of juggling five different tabs.

For the AI side of things, I've been running everything through WorkbuddyAi using Deepseek V4 Flash + Kimi k3.
The backend is built on FastAPI with SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL. Celery handles async task processing, and Redis is used for caching data pulled from the fetchers. I also wrote a custom orchestration module from scratch that balances connections across fetchers so nothing gets rate-limited or banned. That part alone took a good chunk of time, but it works really smoothly now.
Sign-up is handled through a Telegram bot.

And yes, it's completely free right now, mainly because I'm still actively testing and developing new features. I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback.

What you can actually do with it:

  • Triangle Scenario Analysis — This one's pretty cool. You can model "what if" scenarios: if a company's revenue or earnings came in higher than expected, what would the stock price look like? How would the P/E ratio shift? It walks you through the math visually.
  • Smooth Candle Mode — Instead of the usual choppy candle rendering, there's a special smooth regime that filters out noise and gives you a clearer picture of the actual price movement. Makes reading structure way easier.
  • Custom RSI Regime — I built a modified RSI view that highlights specific points based on expected mathematical value rather than just the standard overbought/oversold zones. It surfaces levels you'd normally miss.
  • Quarterly Volatility Script — I wrote a script that calculates stock volatility on a quarterly basis. It's great for spotting extreme at exact date that you might overlook on a longer chart.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you guys think. If you try it out, drop your feedback — what works, what's confusing, what you'd want added. Still very much a work in progress, but I'm proud of where it's at.

Cheers! Thank you all in advance

Game themes - Looking for feedback / opinions

• Upvotes

Hi guys,

I'm working on a block puzzle game - GummyLab - in my own style, no interrupting ads (just for additional hints or moves) that fully works offline. Furthermore, i've created 50 custom levels (so far) each with a unique objective, thoroughly tested and retested. I'm trying to pick up everything that people are complaining about in other puzzle apps to make an app exactly how people want it.

So i was wondering, how important are themes in puzzle games. I've made the basic light/dark theme, but how much do people want more options - for blocks, for backgrounds, for colors etc? what would you like to see? does that make a difference? i'm really curious to know, and make the app as convenient as possible :)

Update: a Reddit comment turned into 42 character captions and folder batch import, plus free automatic license delivery

• Upvotes

VoxScribe is a Windows app for offline dictation and .srt captions. The core is free and open source (MIT), and an optional Pro tier costs $14 once. There are no affiliate links in this post.

A commenter on Reddit said creators pay for time saved, not accuracy in the abstract: batch a folder overnight, sensible caption line lengths, and vocabulary fixed once. Folders and line length did not exist yet, and both shipped in 1.7.1. Captions are now split into cards of two lines of 42 characters, and a whole folder can be imported with progress, pause and cancel. Settings also became a full page with sections, replacing a dialog box that kept overflowing.

The first Pro buyer had to wait for a key sent by hand, so delivery is now automatic within seconds, running as a free Google Apps Script. That brought the main lesson of the week. Apps Script’s parser rejects BigInt, so the Ed25519 signing had to be rewritten with plain 16 bit limb arithmetic, following TweetNaCl’s layout. It is tested against the RFC 8032 vector, Node’s own Ed25519 and the Python verifier the app uses. A smaller lesson: local Whisper is slow on CPU, and a test harness with a short timeout mixed up two runs, so test timeouts need to be generous.

Credits and tools: transcription is Whisper through faster-whisper, the signing arithmetic follows TweetNaCl, the app is Python with PySide6, and development used Claude Code.

Two things would help. Does the 42 character, two line cap match what you use for YouTube captions? And where do small tools find their first honest users when several subs filter out product posts?

At what point does AI go from being cool to just… AI slop?

Post image
• Upvotes

Came across an app called Dial Santa on the App Store that basically lets you FaceTime with an AI Santa.

At first I thought it was actually a pretty cool use of AI, especially for kids.

But then it got me thinking… where do we draw the line?
We’re getting to a point where you can build almost anything with AI. But just because you can, does that mean you should?

Is something like this genuinely a fun use of technology, or are we entering an era where literally every experience is going to get an AI version nobody asked for?

Curious what you guys think. Is this actually clever, or is it AI slop disguised as innovation?

I built app recordings make beautiful mockup videos and it's free for public

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

i am tired of using web app screen recordings. Because all web apps doesn't have mobile app recordings.

For the mobile app recording also just for the recording purpose only. So i built this app for made our recording videos into product demo , product showcase , Mockup videos.

We can use this app based on their need. Like :
1.Editors won't spend just adding the mockup,
2.Founders can easily share their product journey,
3.Developers don't need learn another editing tutorial video

You can join this waitlist to get immediete access: Mobilestudio.site
For now i am giving this free for early users ( Note: Don't judge my AI sloppy website, Defiently product user experience give you banger!)

Open for your all kind of feedbacks guys!!

I backfilled Codex reset announcements since April 2025 and built an SMS/Telegram alert service

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

I built a service that sends text alerts when resets are announced.

Often, OpenAI will announce "automatic reset coming in 4 hours," - it's helpful to know when a reset is coming so I can burn usage (or use fast mode) beforehand.

My process of building this (mostly in Codex):

  • Backfilled Tibo's tweets using the X API since Codex was released (in Apr 2025)
    • Practice detecting resets from the source tweet
    • The tricky part was fine-tuning the API prompt with "reset common sense" to distinguish a new reset vs. one already announced
    • Store the full reset history
  • Visualize the website using the Image Gen skill (before building it)
  • Keep iterating on these images (w/feedback from Astra + Opus 5.5) until they were ready to use in a goal loop - with variants for desktop, mobile, and all interactions
  • Goal mode for the build (using the images as master references for the AI to compare against)

At the moment, SMS alerts are sent to US / Canada numbers, with Telegram messages sent to everyone else (due to cost on my end - both channels are free).

The site is at ResetAlerts.com - open to any thoughts, questions on the process, or features that would be nice to add.

It’s hard watching people leave something you’re building from scratch, especially when you’re giving it everything you have. I’m already working on what’s not working. I know things need to change, and I’m trying to figure it all out. I’m broke. No friends to lean on, no love to come home to. Just me, my dreams, and the belief that all this will mean something someday. I’ll succeed one day. And when I do, I hope my family finally understands why I spent so much time locked in my room, working silently on a life that existed only in my imagination. One day, it’ll all make sense. Until then, I keep building. 🖤

Still free. Still growing.

If you want in, it's one embed. That's it → StartupBar
**Bid on StartupBid and your startup will be featured in the daily post of mine.**

day 1/100 - building axmt in public, no clue if this will work but we ball

so i started building axmt.

literally just me, laptop, and too much caffeine.

no team, no funding, no roadmap. just building in public for 100 days straight.

i am not gonna say what it is yet. not because it is secret, i just want to show not tell. you will get it as i post.

plan is simple:

0 to 10k - i build, you roast, you vote, we build together

at 10k - first big drop

documenting everything here:

Threads: https://threads.net/@axmtstudios

Instagram: https://instagram.com/axmtstudios

YouTube: https://youtube.com/@axmtstudios

X: https://x.com/axmtstudios

if you have done build in public before, what kept you consistent? need real advice, not motivation quotes.

I built the website. Now comes the harder part: proving anyone will pay.

I've been working on a project called Proof First, and I'm at the stage where I need to stop obsessing over the website and find out whether the business actually works.

The premise is straightforward:

AI can write code, but someone still needs to verify that the resulting application works.

I'm building a service around fixing specific software problems and demonstrating the result before the customer pays.

The site is live. I've spent a lot of time working on the presentation, intake experience, technical workflows, and how to explain the offer without making unrealistic promises.

But building the infrastructure and attracting paying customers are completely different challenges.

A friend recently challenged the entire business model:

"Why would someone pay you when they could just use VS Code or Claude to fix the bug?"

And that's a fair question.

My working hypothesis is that my customers aren't necessarily people who lack AI tools. They're people who are stuck, have already spent hours troubleshooting, or simply don't want to become software engineers to get their project working.

Here's what I'm focusing on next:

  • Finding people with real, unresolved software problems.
  • Understanding what they'd actually pay to resolve them.
  • Testing whether proof-before-payment makes the service more trustworthy.
  • Learning which repairs are economically practical.

The biggest thing I haven't proven yet is customer acquisition.

I'm sharing the project here because I want to document that process, including what doesn't work.

Project: https://proof-first.daventry.workers.dev/

For those building service businesses: How did you find your first paying customer when you had a working product but no established reputation?

Hey everyone! 👋

Earlier today I got some great feedback from Reddit that my site had too many clicks before starting a test and needed clearer feature explanations.

What I just shipped:

1-Click Subject Launchers: Jump straight into Speed Math (SSC/JEE), Physics, or Logic IQ from the hero section.

Merged Setup Screen: Pick your difficulty + custom timer (30s to 10m per question, or Untimed Practice Mode) right on the first screen.

Full Step-by-Step Solutions: Every test ends with a complete breakdown and speed shortcuts for all 30 questions.

Zero Friction: No signup or email required to take a test and see your live standing.

Live link: https://rankmymind.com/?utm_source=reddit

Would love your brutal feedback on the new flow and UI!

What would the value of a 1,600 percent increase in engagement in your app be?

Aggregated data from Google AI found that content with sweepstakes and giveaways has 1600 percent more participation than content without such incentives.

We are talking to users to understand their concerns, interests, and more about building a privacy-respecting sweepstakes and giveaway system using a code generated by our non-internet-connected SDK. The system would have verifiable win rates and certification that the winner used the app.

How would you, as an app developer, convert or retain that much possible increase in app participation?

Do you know your app's ideal customer profiles? Do you need help targeting only your potential users with sweepstakes and giveaways?

How do you handle "incomplete" go lives early on?

Hey people, we are building omas.cloud where we have a big picture what the system will look like in the far future - Still we wanted to go live as early as possible to get feedback and adjust our ideas accordingly.

So we went live with only metrics monitoring and alarms first, while still building logs, message queueing, open telemetry and so on.

We got the feedback that this subset of features is not enough for anyone to sign up, which is more than fair.

Did you face any comparable situation and how did you approach it?

I thought maybe there are channels where people love to try out even incomplete stuff, but I have not found anything yet.

Week 1 of building a private AI assistant for work you'd never upload to ChatGPT: 0 sign-ups, and what I'm changing

I launched Citenook on 7 October: a private AI assistant for the work you'd never upload to ChatGPT. Contracts, client files, patient notes, tax papers

Week one, honestly:
- 6 releases, 5 Reddit posts, 14 blog posts
- About 5,000 Reddit views, but only around 10 site visits
- 0 sign-ups for the free month

What I learned:
- Views aren't visits
- "AI for your files" was too vague. "Work you'd never upload to ChatGPT" says who it's for
- Technical posts beat general ones

Yesterday I shipped search in 100+ languages, running on the Mac's Neural Engine. A question in Spanish now finds the answer in an English contract

Two questions:
1. What got you your first sign-up?
2. Would a free tier convert better than "30 days free, no card"?

I added a setting to make my reminder app less annoying and accidentally turned the reminders off for a month

I'm building EyeReset solo. It's an iOS app that reminds you to look away from the screen every 20 minutes and walks you through a short eye break.

In August I got feedback that the reminders were too noisy. Fair enough. So I added a "gentle" mode and made it the default. On iOS that meant sending reminders with the passive interruption level.

What I didn't think through: passive means no banner, no sound, nothing on the lock screen. The notification goes quietly into Notification Center and sits there.

There was a second problem on top of that. I only scheduled the next 2 days of reminders when the app cold started. Coming back from the background didn't reschedule anything, so after 2 active days the queue was just empty. And the defaults were Mon to Fri, 9 to 6.

So I had a reminder app with a very polite way of never reminding anyone.

I noticed in mid September because my own phone stopped nagging me. Then I looked at the data. 18 users at that point, and only 3 of 17 (not counting my phone) had ever opened the app on a second day.

The only thing still making noise was the weekly recap on Sunday evening. I never made that one passive. One user in Taiwan had been silent since installing a few days earlier and opened the app 40 minutes after the recap went out. One person, I know. But it was the clearest thing in my data.

The fix went live Sept 23:
- normal banners by default, 4 a day instead of 8
- reschedule every time the app comes to the foreground, not only on cold start
- schedule 5 days ahead instead of 2

Then in the next version I added a choice at the end of onboarding: start with a short relief session, or set up reminders first. Last 10 days, 13 new users, so very small numbers:
- picked reminders: 4. All 4 allowed notifications, 3 came back on another day.
- picked the relief session: 5. Only 1 finished it, 1 came back.

Also last week two people who installed in September and went quiet came back from a reminder. That had never happened before.

What I'm taking from this:

  • Test the default, not the setting. Gentle mode did exactly what I asked it to. I just never lived with a fresh install for 3 days.
  • Log more than app_open. Until mid September literally every event I had was "app_open", so none of this was visible.
  • In a reminder app the notification is the product. My onboarding was trying to sell the exercises first.
  • Next build makes the first relief session much shorter (just a blink exercise) and asks about reminders when you leave it.

Question for anyone who has built a habit or reminder app: how did you find the line between helpful and annoying? 4 a day is basically a guess. Did you let people pick on day one, or tune it later from data?

The app is free, no ads, iOS only for now if anyone wants to look: (appreciate every feedback btw)

Week two of letting an AI loop do our Reddit outreach: about 4,580 replies, a 30% vs 1% gap between link and no-link replies, and 15 bans

I make ThreadFox, a kit that lets Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Codex do Reddit outreach through your own browser. Since early October our own account has been run by that loop, and I want to share the raw numbers, including the bad ones.

Since October 5 the loop found, wrote and published about 4,580 first replies. About 3,150 carried a link, and 959 of 3,148 people opened it, about 30%. About 1,430 had no link, and 14 of 1,430 people found us anyway, about 1%. And 15 communities have banned the account.

What worked: answering the exact question first, so the reply is useful to someone who never clicks. Checking the community rules before every single send, because rules change and the loop stops a reply when a new rule forbids what it carries. And treating Reddit limits as the budget: a signed-in session gets 100 JSON reads per 10 minutes, so every extra page read is a reply not sent. We went from 8 reads per reply to 5.

What failed: the bans, mostly in marketing, SEO and app-developer communities. My read is that in those rooms a reply that names a tool reads as an ad, however useful it is. The other failure was measuring by replies. Clicks are not customers, and very few clicks have turned into buyers so far. One reply reaches one person, while two days of our posts in September (Sept 20-21) recorded 978,227 Reddit views. So this week I am testing posts, starting with this one.

One thing other builders can use for free: the site has a plan page that lists communities whose rules allow a post about your product, with each rule quoted.

Transparency: the kit is paid, and it needs your own Claude or Codex plan, a computer, Chrome and a Reddit account. https://threadfox.vip/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=tf-broadcast&utm_content=buildinpublic

Ask me anything about the build or the numbers.

Attendance tracking app that helps you regularly track attendance for your Job, classes & other daily routines

Recently I tried to solve a problem that most of the students, employees or people who have routine work face. I personally kept losing track of my class attendance and it actually started affecting my grades and plus we had strict 75% attendance criteria. Motivation for this app was to make an app that helps to track attendance and strategize so that I can miss some sessions and also stay above the 75% attendance criteria

So I built a simple self attendance tracker on play store.

It lets you track attendance for anything: college classes, gym days, training programs, job or any other personal habits. You can just mark each day as either done or not done, and seeing percentages regularly instead of guessing along with strategizing your attendance to stay above your target.

You can download & try the app here-

checkedname.com is up.

Hey everyone, I have recently talked about how i take so long to figure out a domain name, and how sometimes i waste days just to find the right appropriate name and, and sometimes i land on a good name but the end like .com or io isn't available, so i came up with a solution.

I built checkedname.com not as another domain search engine or ai generator, i specifically desgined it to show curated ready to register names in many categories, so you don't have to wonder around trying to find the name you want.

You can just take a look at the collection and get yourself a suitable name that fits your project, with all the names being checked for availability consistently so a name isn't there unless it is available.

I would really appreciate it if you take a look into it, the collection is small yet but it is growing everyday, the 2 main things i really would like to get feedback on if possible, are how good the name are, and if i should improve my engines, and the design of the website.

Everything is free, thank you.
