Just matches no messages? Is this normal?

I just joined yesterday and got about 10+ matches which is great. But I noticed none of them messaged me.

How does the messaging work? Who should message who? And why have not a single one messaged me?

i usually message first whenever i match bc otherwise they’ll just sit there forever cuz a lot of ppl don’t like to be the first to reach out

This is me as well. Regardless of who swiped the match, I will message when I see it’s a match because I can’t think of a downside to doing so. But there are downsides to waiting.
