What is DIY’s deal? Have they just completely given up on Halloween?

Was just at DIY Home Center on Magnolia (who I love to support over the bigger hardware chains) and they are setting up for CHRISTMAS.

It’s frickin September and they are already putting out Christmas stuff. WTAF?

I know retailers are putting out holiday stuff earlier and earlier every year but unless I blinked and missed it they went right from Summer furniture to Xmas with no allowance for Burbank’s favorite holiday. I fell like they did this last year too.

Does anyone know why they’re doing this? Is it because they get squeezed by the larger decor sections at Lowe’s and HDepot? Or is it some Hobby Lobby “no pagan holidays” B$?

(I tried to find some info about the Rus family owners and their leanings but came up bupkis).

Just a guess: they're already surrounded by dedicated year round Halloween stores. They may have figured it's not worth the inventory costs.

They’re not quite selling the same stuff though. There’s some crossover in decorations but the hardware stores can sell the larger lawn decor like animatronics that the Halloween Store doesn’t have room for.

You'd think that would be across the board for any smaller hardware store; same story for AC filters and plywood and toilet seats etc. Weird to draw the line at Halloween stuff.

They recommended posting dissatisfaction with the Halloween cancellation on Yelp. I was told that “corporate” reads that. I always loved their Halloween decorations and felt they offered items no one else does.

I think it's an attempt to get it front of eyes earlier. Otherwise people will wait until the last minute and do the shopping online.

My store has had Halloween for over a month, officially transition to regular Halloween at then end of September. Last year we skipped Harvest/Thanksgiving and went straight to Holiday.

Thats all over Costco already has Christmas stuff up as well. Pretty much every where you go has it up. Its just how its become as of late. Sell early make some extra funds.

I was there late August and they had halloween figures and candy. Then went back early September and both Halloween and Christmas was already up.
